300w LED - Sunset Kush

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

Hey SS do you ever flush your girls with the OC+? run allot of water threw them for you can get allot of run off? i just did the other day to my girls and they loved it!! but i dont know if thats just because i have high temps and i am just flushing the extra nutes the OC+ might be dumping? The Oc+ is flowering allot better now, but so is the DM.. and the OC+ is not even close..

I also seen that i am getting a little bleaching on a few little leafs, but the weird thing is their not the closes ones to the light? kinda weird their. nothing too bad at least yet.

Cannabis use is not addictive, but growing it can be.
There are about 500 journals in progress, and 700+ completed journals.
Quit your day job, ignore your family and read. ;)
In a couple of months or years, we'll tell you about the really secret ones.
Just kidding, nothing is hidden. Bury a seed, turn on a light and get your grow on.
It doesn't have to be a big deal to be good; we just like it that way :)

that just bears a re-post ;)

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

well i guess people are just going to have to wait and understand that no one should have to pull their plants early because someone wants to get impatient. but i dont think anyone cares as long as you keep putting bud porn up.

:)
maybe it would be a real good idea to LST them or really shorten the veg.. the last thing you want is plants over 4' like mine in a tent.;)
I guess I could LST them before I separate them into the LED and HID tent. The only thing I don't like about the idea is having to transplant after LST. I've done it, but I'm not crazy about it. There's stored energy and potential for mayhem ;).

Good idea though, and I may have to go for it, cause the PPP clones are growing fast under the T5.

thanks bro ;)

Definitely not, I would never pull early, makes no sense to spend that much time for an inferior product. Mids are like Bammer weed, nobody cares. :laughtwo:

They're sucking up water faster than ever, and I agree about having patience.

thanks grandaddie ;)

Times' inflection concerns business investment
For me this journal is a journey, and I'm loving the road

thank you brother

Gator Dome can accommodate 4' beautities! :)

hmmmm, sounds kinky to me, Mr. Gator ;)

Thanks for the trichome pics SS!! Very beautiful. I love them so so much! How close you get is very exciting. You can completely get the best choice bud as you desire it to be.

LOVE THAT!

Thank you muchly!!!

-GO

you're welcome bro Go!

Rest assured that those pics are taken only with the appropriate mind frame :)

Just found this. Don't know how I missed it until now(Maybe something I smoked). Subscribed and watching with interest.

I'm glad you found us bro. I really enjoyed your participation in the last one ;).

I noticed early in the grow that Shrub always looked better after a heavier watering, so I did regular "mini-flushes" throughout the grow, in addition to regular watering where I would stop when I would get a little runoff from the hole. In the mini-flushes, I would water until I got about 1/2-1 gallon runoff, and I probably did that at least once a week.

Also, I got in the habit of shortening my watering cycles, because the plants did better when they got more water, and I'm pretty sure that has to do with the OC+ working better that way in perlite. Osmosis requires moisture, and perlite holds a lot less moisture than soil, which is what these CRF's are designed for and work best in.

I think that whatever soilless media comes closest to soil as regards retention and aeration, will do *really* well with CRF's, and coco might even be better than soil, since it has excellent retention and better aeration.

I took Shrub out for a few pics.

That bud I snipped off of Shrub a few days ago dried nicely and I rolled a nice fatty.

Didn't know what to expect. I've been smoking mostly the VK buds from my last grow and I've become very tolerant. I described it as 2-hitter when I first smoked it, but now I can easily smoke a whole joint. I didn't know whether I would have a cross-tolerance to the Sunset Kush because they share genes or what.

The NL/William's Wonder can be edgy smoke. Whatever headspace you're in, it will magnify it tenfold, which is great if you're in a good headspace, but not so good if you're paranoid about something. I've smoked it a lot, and it's very euphoric, but it has that quality.

The Barney's Farm VK is best described as "comfortable couchlock". Comes on with a warm feeling and has very good pain relief.

The high I got from the Sunset Kush cross was a nice blend of both effects. It's got the VK warm couchlock feeling, but it's a little edgier in a good way.

Can't comment much on taste because the bud wasn't cured, but it was surprisingly smooth for how fresh it was.

Potency was very good, and I put the joint down after 4-5 hits. It had a pretty strong creep, and 5-10min later, I was staring off into deep space with the familiar NL/WW euphoria, but without the edginess, which is cool, because that would often spoil the euphoric effect for me.

Based on the aroma and the smoothness of that joint, I'm thinking it's going to be quite tasty after curing.

Great pics! They look like they could go a while longer....I hope you keep 'em going! That looks to be a very good Gram/watt ratio you got there....

Also, isn't it nice how smooth the smoke is without a flush with OC+ ?

I think they got a while to go too. Based on how much they're drinking, they're in peak bloom now. Buds are still growing.

For uncured smoke, it was pretty darn good, and should only get better from there.

take care doc ;)

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

Yeah Sun, I'm doing good considering... We've just had a lot of stress here, and it's been tough to have time to take care of a grow. I'll probably start a bag seeder grow here soon, just to keep things moving. I really wanted to kill it outside, but that wasn't in the cards for us this year.

Someday I would love to have a green house, and of course for prohibition to end.

As far as watering, I'm with you. I've read things on here from people who say you should go 2 or 3 days between watering, it promotes root growth and whatever. But what I've seen, is that the plants stay healthy and green if you give them some water everyday, or every other day at least. Even if it's just a little water. I've had more dead, or yellow leaves, when I go more then 2 days, then when watering more often. So that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

Whatever you're doing, keep at it! Your girls look amazing! Props if I can. I probably have spread the love around.

Fantastic pics SS. Those buds are looking pretty. I have been away on vacation for a bit and have a ton of reading to catch up on, so pls forgive me if you have already answered this question. How do you do a final flush with OC+ in your setup? Do you even need a final flush with OC+? I think you mentioned the bud you pinched so far had good taste. I am just wondering with the OC+ pellets being time released and if you mix it into the medium how the flush would work? Again sorry if you have already answered this. :grinjoint:

yep, a greenhouse would be wonderful. I hope to have one someday too.

I think that in soil, it does promote root growth to wait until the container is fairly dry before watering, but so does watering with smaller amounts more frequently around the perimeter of the pot.

With the Osmocote nutes and perlite, however, my plants did much better when I keep the medium moist by watering more frequently.

thanks sis!

glad you're back ;)

Actually, nobody has asked in this journal about final flushing, but it has been discussed in other journals where people are using OC+ or other CRF's.

You can't effectively flush a CRF like OC+, but apparently that doesn't cause any problems.

DocBud harvested an OC+ plant and reported that it tasted great, and soon other growers using CRF's will hopefully be providing their experiences.

Flushing is a very controversial topic, and there are quite a few experienced growers who don't do pre-harvest flushing.

I can't really provide strong feedback based on having smoked just that one joint, but I should be able to soon.

welcome back trichtone!

hope you had a fun vacation ;)

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

one very important question i really want to know is how did that nug smell when dried? did it have that wet hay smell at all? or was it a dank smell?

i am really looking forward to hearing about this on ur harvest when they 100% done. but just curios how that sample nug smelled?

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

It smelled like it would benefit from curing, but it didn't have that hay smell at all.

I'm very curious about the final results too, both yield and taste/effect.

cool thanks for the fast reply..

that hay smell you get from certain nutes or whatever the hell causes it? seems nobody in the world knows for sure what causes it? but its the worst thing to me i hate that smell, it just kills it for me.. seems once i changed my nutes to GH it never happen again. so i have some thoughts it might be from nutes maybe, and was worried about the TRF leaving that smell.. so its good to know you didnt notice it from bud that was picked early.. thats a good sing.

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

I know for sure that if you jar it before it's dry enough, you'll get that wet hay smell, but there may be other reasons for it too.

ya theirs other reasons because ive Jared it before when it was crispy crispy dry because i had to leave town when i harvested and still got that smell. Ive spent beyond hours reading on this and tried everything in the book, the only time i got rid of it was when i switch to different nutes. I think it was the lower N in flowering? the brand that gave me this smell every time was Supernatural brand nutes. Once i went to the Lucas formula i did have that problem.

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

Again, there's probably more than one hay factor, but I know that sometimes when buds feel dry and crispy on the outside, there can still be a lot of moisture in deeper that isn't apparent.

Then when you jar them, that moisture works it way out and produces the same effect as if the buds were jarred too soon.

Don't ask me how I know this ;)

no they were bone dry the stem snapped very easy, even after jarring some time they were bone dry.. it was horrible. it has to be another factor.. i feel it was the nutes, because my buddy used the same ones and had the hay smell also. once the nutes were switched it was never that hay smell. but i dont know for sure, ive also heard it will get that smell if the buds dry too fast because cloraphil dosent get to evaporate out. this could be.. but my last harvest dried fast and i had pure dank smell so i dont know?

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

I wasn't contradicting or saying that in your case it wasn't the nutes, it very well could have been, just relating my experience because properly curing cannabis takes longer to learn than other aspects of growing, and I'm still very much a student.

Are you going to use your little RH meters on this harvest?

I'm looking forward to using them!

Water curing sounds intriguing. I may water cure a bud or two on this harvest.

I've heard dozens of explanations and opinions about what causes the hay smell and how to prevent it, but yeah, at some point you read so many contradicting opinions, that you get nowhere.

If your hay smell went away when you changed nutes, then sounds very plausible that you corrected the problem.

My last harvest and cure turned out great, but I noticed that the buds that got a little more drying time before being jarred turned out better, aroma and flavorwise.

It's so subjective though, the whole process, which is why I'm looking forward to seeing how the RH meters work.

A good cure is like walking a tightrope. Like you said, dry it too fast and the flavor is ruined, dry it too slow and you get mold and it's all ruined, dry it as slow as you can without getting mold, and you're golden.

And it's not like we get that many harvests in one lifetime to perfect this craft.

well it could be allot of things that cause that smell. because you are right if it is wet you will get that smell. but it has happen when dried all the way, so i really have no clue it could just be a mix of things?

i am using my RH% meter for sure.. it worked great on my last harvest towards the end of jarring once i received them.. its a bullet proof way of doing it.
