Animal1x's First Indoor Grow

Twisted Sister...LOL

Looks very nice. I think 2 of mine might bite the big one... I believe it's nute burn from what everyone said.

The SNS217 is on the way. I called them last week and they said they are not approved to sell in my state yet. But they can send me samples. So they have 2 samples on the way. Awesome folks at SNS. Great Sponsor!

Shoot looks like you are growing your own Christmas Trees....

Thanks for the replies guys. I really appreciate it.

IG, sorry to hear about your plants. With me being a rank newbie on inside grows I feel I have been very lucky that I haven't killed mine due to one mistake or another that I have made.

That SNS 217 is good stuff. I know one of my friends doesn't like to even think about a grow without at least a pint of the concentrate on his shelf.

I couldn't help the Twisted Sister metaphor, it just came to me!! LOL. In fact, instead of just calling her a mother plant like most normal people, I may name her and start calling her "Dee". Her twisted up leaves have straightened back out and she has recovered a lot of her color although she is still slightly chlorotic. But she is well on the way to being healthy again.

Hey Gator, yep, they're starting to fill in pretty well now. Looks like it's gonna be a "Green" Christmas if not a white one here. Those flowers over on your journal sure are tasty looking!! How much longer you got before they're gonna be done?

Been a while since I posted an update. Hope everyone had a real good Thanksgiving. I know I am blessed with a great family. Anyway, things are chuggin' along here, and plants are about where they should be. We are right between 4 and 5 weeks of flower. So far, knock on wood, the only problems we have had are ones I created myself by being such a newbie to indoor gardening. Pics below, somewhere between 4 and 5 weeks of flowering.

Very nice animal. I can't wait til mine look like that...

Thanks IG. I hope yours treat you as well as these have treated me. They have been real tolerant of me so far. They were somewhat abused and sad when I first got them. And then of course being a newbie I made a few mistakes with them. I only made typical rookie mistakes with 'em, and nothing major that they couldn't recover from, but still they've went through a lot so far. They seem to bounce right back from about everything that has happened to 'em and now halfway through the flower cycle the buds are starting to swell and all covered in sugar and sticky trichromes.

very nice ladies animal!! is that 5 weeks from show of hairs or 12/12?

Hi Clint. Thanks for having a look at my journal. That would be 5 weeks from 12/12. I think I first noticed pistils at around eight days into the 12/12 cycle, so it would be about 4 weeks from the first show of pistils and pre-flowers.

It's been a little while since I have posted any updates and this will probably be the last one for this cycle. We are 49 days or so from first show of pistils, and about 56 days or 8 weeks from the 12/12 flip. Look like I will be ready to harvest very soon and with the holidays here also, I probably won't have any spare time for another update.

Happy Holidays everyone.

Pics from today are below.

Dude those look GREAT! Congrats on the successful grow! Please let us know what your final numbers are, if you would.

Thanks, IG. Yes I will be posting what the total is. I am also planning on taking a few pics as I cut my clones and get mother ready for her turn in the flower room. That's gonna be a trick because she is already over 4ft in height and probably 3ft across. My grow room ceiling is only 7ft 2in or something like that. Gonna have to really chop her top to keep her stretch under control and make her fit, and then she's so wide she's gonna take up almost the whole end of my flower room. Oh well, as long as she gives me the clones I need I'm happy, and on top of that, I've always wanted to flower out a tree anyways. LOL.

Right now, though, wanna make sure I get them flushed good and dried and cured right. They just look too good for me to muck this up!!

More later along with totals and smoke report!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours!!

Had a few minutes so I thought I would add two or three more pics here real quick:

This is just for a little perspective.

Here's mom. There ought to be a clone or two on there somewhere, eh?

I thought I would be busy in a harvest by now, or at least getting ready for one, but you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men. Shade leaves are just now beginning to yellow a little bit. And even though the pistils are starting to darken and turn, the calyx's have not begun their final swelling and the trich's are all still crystal clear, so I'm gonna say maybe two more weeks? Anyway, we'll see.

More a little later.

That mother is a giant! Might be able to snag a couple clones. :;): Those buds look phenomenal by the way, a very beautiful purple hue in them. Great work animal!

Hey, a sponsor checking in!! Cool!! Thank-you VN. I have been very lucky so far and things have worked out pretty well for a first time inside garden.

I really don't know why I let mother get as big as she is. I should have been grooming her a little more that I did. I need to take a goodly number of clones from her for one reason and another, but she should more cover the number of clones I need, and if I can get her chopped down to a manageable height I may try to flower her. I've always wanted to flower a tree!! LOL

More in a few days.

Happy Holidays

Well, here we sit, two weeks or so after my last update, and still waiting on some coloration in a trichome or two. Actually, the last couple of days have seen quite a few start to turn cloudy. Thought I see a couple of amber colored ones last night before lights out, but then I couldn't find them again when I looked this morning. Probably just wishful thinking.

Did you ever see George Clooney in the movie "The Men Who Stare at Goats"? Well, I'm gonna be "the man who stares at plants". I'm gonna go down there and stare at em' and with the force of my mind, I'm gonna age and ripen those trich's...

Yeah, right,...Anyway, before I completely lose it and you guys think I'm a complete and total nut case (if you don't already) heres a couple 9 week update pics.

Great Pics

Thanks Kaiser. Some day I'd like to be able to take some pics as nice as Matanuska and some others on this site.

looks great! what was ur finall numbers on that..?did u use 600s 0r 400? for lighting?

Hi Kush. As far as numbers, I'd like to know what the final numbers are myself!! LOL I haven't harvested anything yet. Trichomes are just not there yet. We are on about week 9 of flowering. Actually about 65 days after showing the first pistils. Still quite a few clear trichs, starting to be a lot of cloudy ones, maybe only one or two amber colored. Still probably a week away. Maybe a little longer.

The grower I got the clones from said they would finish in 8 to 10 weeks. I do know that at least for him there were finishing right in there about 9 and 10 weeks. I did make a few mistakes that probably set them back a little, and my grow room is not exactly optimum either and that may very well set them back 1 to 2 weeks all on its own. We're gettin' there though.

I'm using a 400 HPS for veg and a 600 HPS for flower.

We're gettin' there now! Amber trich's! Two sites on two different flowers on two different plants. Won't be long now!! I thought I seen a couple the other day but couldn't find them again the next morning and put them down as wishful thinking. But tonight at lights off I found a couple different sites on two different plants. This time not just wishful thinking either, I looked em' over pretty good!! Probably should have checked a couple further in the back, but didn't feel like disturbing anything and moving plants around after lights off just to take a quick look, but they've all been on about the same course and track all along. I'll keep a good eye on the ones up towards the front that I can reach fairly easily, and wait unitl I water again to check the ones further in the back.

Ya know, I think I'm more excited about this indoor grow than one or two gorilla grows I have had in the past with some trees!!

Anyway, more in a few days and maybe a few pics.

Well, here it is, the culmination of the last 3 months or so. Almost exactly 11 weeks after first show of pistils. A couple of pics to get started, many more in the next couple of days.

Only ten plants here, one already harvested, last pic of all the sisters together:

IMGP6328a.JPG

My very first indoor harvest. Not a real big plant, just a naked plant hanging, but hey, its my first indoor harvest and really marks my independence. No more running around trying to find, just go open a new jar!!

Anyway, first plant harvested, trimmed, and hanging:

First bud porn:

There will be plenty of pics coming in the next couple of days, plants and nugs, some trimmed, some not, some good, some bad.

Gotta say, this has been kind of cool. I learned a lot, I do know that.
