My 2023 Perpetual Grow - Organic, Partial SIP

Wooohooo, time for my weekly update, and it just so happens to be 420! Happy 420 everybody!

First up this week, I have planted a new strain (for me) into soil this morning, Quebec Blue seed #1, and am feeling very optimistic. The seed cracked open quickly and exhibited nice growth over the first 48 hours.

Secondly, we have the Ghost Train Haze seed #1 after 21 full days veg coming along very nicely. There is nice internode spacing, as it seems for quad-lining I want a more stretchy plant, so the buds are spaced out better. She will begin training very soon so we will see how it goes.

Lastly is the OG Kush seed #16 after 49 full days flowering. This plant is small in stature, but the buds are looking great. The red hairs are really starting to show on the smaller buds, but not on the big ones. This one still has quite a ways to go after 7 weeks flowering.

Alright, up first this week is the newest addition, the Quebec Blue seed #1 on day 7 of veg that I sprouted last week, after many failed attempts at sprouting some Blueberry Kush x AK47 seeds. This one came up right away and is growing out nicely for a small seedling.

Next up is the Ghost Train Haze seed #1 after 28 full days vegging. She is now in training. This one isn't growing quite as fast as I would hope, but still not bad.

Lastly is the OG Kush seed #16 after 8 full weeks flowering. Starting to really show some red hairs and a bit of purple on all the leaves. Not a lot of smell as is usual with this strain, but the end product tends to be very nice with large trichomes everywhere.

Not a lot to report this week other than some nice growth and training for the new plants, things have been so easy.

First up is the Quebec Blue seed #1 on day 14 of veg. This one is growing very short and wide, with short internode spacing. I am pretty happy with the progression so far. I will top today or tomorrow in prep for quad-lining.

Secondly we have the Ghost Train Haze seed #1 after 35 full days in veg. This plant is showing its 'sativa' like traits, with wide internode spacing and some vigorous growth. I continue to think the stretchy plants are better suited to quad-lining. This one will be ready for flowering in a week or two.

Lastly is the OG Kush seed #16 after 63 full days flowering starting to show off her purple colors with a good percentage of red hairs showing as well. This is day 7 of a drought session, and the SIP is almost empty, meaning I'll have to keep a good eye on her over the next week to see when she starts showing symptoms of drought. Then I will water lightly with plain water until flowering is complete.

Exciting times! Relatively lots going on this week as the plants mature, take up more water and require training. As usual, the vegging plants are being fed Alaskan Fish Fertilizer via top-watering, and the flowering plant is being fed Botanicare Pure Blend Pro at the recommended levels via light top-watering and direct fill of the SIP. All plants are in a custom compost/soil mix, in 5-gallon SIP containers. My VPD for flowering is right on the money during the dark period, and a bit dry during the day. I prefer to have things slightly drier during the days than generally recommended to prevent mold and fungus etc. The light used for flower is a Vipar XS2500 250W, and in veg I use one or two off-brand 100w panels depending on the stage of growth.

Up first this week is the Quebec Blue seed #1 on day 21 of veg. This one seems to be coming along really nicely. I started training this past week at around day 15, and the leaves are still getting bigger. This one is about ready for more water and I will slowly start topping up the SIP over the next week via top-watering.

Up next is the Ghost Train Haze seed #1 after 42 full days vegging. The side branches are starting to consume a lot of energy no matter how hard I train them and try to keep them in check, but the main branches are still growing strong. This plant is starting to use up a lot of water and I'll probably give another week before putting into 12/12. Very excited to see how stretchy this plant will be in the first weeks of flowering. Training has been easy, this plant is taking to it very well with the main 4 branches almost completely horizontal.

Lastly is the OG Kush seed #16 after 70 full days flowering. The purpling is really starting to show on the fan leaves and buds. The trichs are popping and coating the buds in every direction. A small plant, but the result should be very nice! I just finished a drought which took about 12 days. It was probably a day or two too long, but I didn't have a chance to water it towards the end, so kind of a hard drought. The smell is a bit stronger now, you can tell there is a difference after droughting.
Now I will continue to feed her plain water until she is almost ready, then I will again let her dry out/drought before harvest. This helps the plant to appear 'finished' and use up a lot of the nutrients etc in the leaves. Then I will hang the whole plant for 10-12 days usually, depending on humidity & temp, and put the buds into a large bowl with a thick cloth over top for a final slow dry before jarring. This is IMHO the most important part of a grow, since all your hard work can be undone by crappy drying & curing techniques. Re-hydrating and drying cannabis through burping etc. seems to kill the terpenes, so I try for a nice slow consistent drying period.

Saturday! Time for another update:

I'm still testing my no defoliation until flower technique, and so far it seems to be paying off. The challenge I seem to be having quad-lining is that the inner branches will take over from the main branches unless they are trained, topped etc. and keeping most of the leaves in tact helps to keep them in check until flowering time.

First up this week its the Quebec Blue seed #1 on day 28 of veg and stretching out nicely, with big leaves/looking healthy. This plant was given less light in the initial stages of veg than I usually provide, partly because I wanted it to stretch, and the next plant up was taking most of the light.

Second up is the Ghost Train Haze seed #1 after 49 days of veg, day 1 of flowering, after some light defoliation starting over the past few days. This plant really popped out branches all over the place. The side branches are growing new branches, and the main branches are still dominant going into flower. When defoliating, this plant already has really nice smells going on, and I'm hoping the flowers have a similar smell. Things are looking good for this one heading into 12/12. As mentioned above the final pic is that of last week vs this week after defoliation.

Lastly we have the OG Kush after 77 full days of flowering. The purples have come out nicely, and I'm just waiting for this one to ripen up and finish now. The water consumption is very minimal, and there is nothing left to do except wait. I'm guessing one or two more weeks should do the trick, putting this one at 12-13 weeks flowering and just over 18-19 weeks of growth altogether. The buds look sick, I can't wait!

And finally a shot of the flowering area under the Vipar XS2500. You can see the GTH is still little, but the flowering stretch will tell how big of a plant this one will be.

Plants look great the OGK looks real tasty

@con Thanks for following along! I have a feeling this year will be even better than last, with these new strains plus the good old OG Kush. Am super proud of how the Ghost Train Haze is turning out, can't wait to see it stretch! Wish I would have learned this stuff earlier in my growing journey.
