NLnovice's Northern Lights - Soil - CFL - Cabinet Grow 2012

Thanks for the link Greenfingers. That was a great read. Love reading stuff like that on NL and also read up about skunk. Thanks again.

Glad you enjoyed it :)

As you can see, Mr. Nice Seed Bank is the holder of all the original genetics that have won all the prizes.

Until breeding was commercialised and other companies just stole the names and claimed it was their strains that won the prizes.

For example, Greenhouse seeds claim that their white widow won so many prizes etc etc.

But it was actually the genetics of Black widow ( re-named to discern from all the commercial or copy cat strains ) that won all the prizes.

Seen as you are interested in a skunk grow next time I can not help but recommend: NL5 X Skunk or SKUNK HAZE by ( Mr. Nice Seed Bank ) as they would be the purest quality genetics Imaginable. They also have the strain ''SHIT'' which is actually the original Skunk #1.

After all they were created by the greatest breeders who ever lived, If it wasn't for Nevil and Shantibaba most of the strains that we know today would have never existed.

MNS uses a collection of both Neville and Shantibaba's plants which are the most pedigreed cannabis plants ever bred.

These two People revolutionised Cannabis and run this company.

Here is a quote from them:

Rather than joining any seed companies' bandwagon by merely chasing money, Neville, Howard, and I dedicated our efforts to make old and new world seeds available for growers. We did not care how many seeds we sold or whether we had a profile in the limelight. We are daily users of cannabis, and the mother and father plants Neville and I have kept alive for the last twenty years are capable of producing every currently existing strain.

I hope this helps your decision somewhat ha ha :)

:peace:

Thanks GreenFingers for the info about skunk #1. I never knew who has the original strains. They are pricey but probably worth it for their genes.

JASPL and K-Frat, thank you for checking in and your desire for an update. Basically I got very busy at work the past few weeks and have not had the time to post updates or keep up on all the journals I have subscribed to. More detailed info to come, but yes I have cut down my girl and she is hanging in the closet.

Hey NL, Great work mate!:goodjob:
Glad to see she made it to harvest for ya!:) And she looks so similar to my last NL grow! Almost yellowed exactly the same, evenbuds are similar.. You did well mate, and now you can enjoy smokin her as she dries.. I put smaller buds on a mesh screen and sat each end on pile of books so air could get around the buds, with a fan blowing in there, no heater tho, they dried in few days, some i wanted to dry faster so i got my clothes horse and just pegged a few small buds on that in front of my heater.. Not too hot! And in couple hours had some nice quik dry to smoke that gave a nice stone :)
Congrats on ur effort.. Here s one of my last NL grows buds:

Minty, citrus, peppery spice.... some buds are all three, others are just one or none at all. The results are uneven. The smell is not over powering. When the buds are airing out on the table the smell is mild, when it's just a couple of small buds the smell is barely noticeable until they are broken up. I have taken the strongest smelling buds and placed them all in the same jar. All the rest of the buds are mixed together in another jar. Will cure the best ones the longest to see where they are at in a month or more. As for the smoke report, results are again uneven. The taste is mild to bland. The high is good. A friend gave me a couple buds so I was able to compare mine to it. It looked, smelled, and tasted better but I found myself smoking more of it then my own. The high from the northern lights was better. The affects start with an up, laughing head high that turns into a body relaxing, mild couchlock great for the end of the day. Buds are not super dense but tighter than expected from a plant grown with cfl's for 70% of the grow. Here are a few pics of some buds.

This plant was nutrient deficient, especially nitrogen. Don't know if it was caused by ph or some other lockout. The main stem seemed to be on the small side. As well as the branches and leaf stems. Roots looked good but appeared root bound. She got to the finish line but hardly at her best.

For better results in my next grow I am going to make a few changes....

1- Blue Planet Nutrients (most likely the 3-part with bloom booster)
2- Smart pot (fabric air pot)
3- 150 watt hps for veg and flower
4- GLR- gas lantern routine
