NuLife's - Soilless - Northern Lights - Grow Journal - 2016

8/21/16 Week 7 Flower Day 2 - It's been a week of feeding everyday using Week3 of the nutes schedule, then flushing and feeding on Sunday. She seems to be handling it well. She's also handling the new COB lights well and at full power. I lowered the light to 26".

I defoliated a few more leaves.

8/25/16 Week 7 Flower Day 6 - Before she was fed today, I defoliated about 60 leaves from her. She gets very bushy very fast.

Even though she's fed everyday now, I don't check ph every single day, here are the results from the days I checked.
8/19: ph 5.61 in 5.79 out 792ppm
8/22: ph 5.65 in 5.81 out 750ppm
8/24: ph 5.65 in 5.76 out 750ppm
8/25: ph 5.70 in (didn't check) out 924ppm

8/28/16 Week 8 Flowering Day 9 - Doing Week 3 of the nutes schedule. Feeding her everyday, with a flush and feed on Sunday. I moved the COB light to 22" from the plant.

8/26 ph: 5.70 in 5.71 out 924ppm
8/27 ph: 5.65 in 5.67 out 839ppm
8/28 ph: 5.65 in 5.67 out 839ppm

Defoliated 50 leaves.

Nice things going on...Bravo! I noticed your new COBs' and just thought I'd chime in a little on the true wattage of these. I have 2 of the 4 reflector COBs also (Mfg rated @ 800w each) and when I put a Killawatt meter on the extension cord for the whole tent with fans on and 1 T2 fixture, it only is drawing 550 watts total. So you may want to check yours and see what the actual wattage used by the fixtures is, the Chinese LED mfgs tend to overrate the output power by using a tricky math formula calculated by a relative par equivalents. But they do work very good for small to medium tents and keep the heat and energy bills down too, as well as the cost so win win either way. Peace and Cheers!

Thanks StonedGypsy, I know, true wattage on most LED light are usually half of what they tell you. I believe mine is 400 give or take a digit. It's why I got 2 for my closet. I don't have a meter to check, but have learned to always consider half of what's stated, is actual draw. Thanks for checking in, appreciate it.

:thanks:

9/4/16 Week 9 Flowering Day 16 - I felt like she was too bushy and her nodes were too close and I wanted to spread her out a bit, open her up. So I decided to deliberately stretch her. I raised the COB light to 25-26" over her to help her stretch a bit. I've decided to let her stretch, then I will see how to defoliate her once she starts showing budlets.

She was given Week4 of the nutes schedule. I did not flush today, I will flush and feed tomorrow.

9/5/16 Week 9 Flowering Day 17 - So I did a flush and feed today, and removed the bamboo sticks and opened her up a bit better with the coated wire I bought. FYI, *Coated Wire is a must buy, this stuff is great, better than the Garden Twist Ties, better than the Garden Coated Ties, and as much as I love the bamboo sticks they get in the way, and I worry about the roots. So yes, Coated Wires, is the best options, I've found so far.

ph 5.75 in 5.78 out 820ppm

Here's a picture with the bamboo sticks removed and the coated wire opening her up in a star shape. Take a look at the difference of training between this pic and yesterday bamboo pics.

9/8/16 Week 9 Flowering Day 20 - Plant looks good, she has little budlets finally showing.

Doing Week4 of the nutes schedule.
9/5: ph 5.75 in 5.78 out 820ppm
9/6: ph 5.75 in 5.86 out 743ppm
9/7: ph 5.75 in 5.72 out 743ppm
9/8: ph 5.75 in 5.87 out 743ppm

Lights are at 30-31" away from the plants. I've decided to return one of the 800w COB lights and get two 600w 3wLEDs instead. After speaking with the company rep, they don't think I need two COBs this powerful in the size closet I have (2' deep x 4.5' wide 5.5' high), especially cause I can't raise it higher than where I already have it. So since the 300w 3w LEDs were working out great, I'm just going to double that. So once I get them, I will have two 600w 3wLEDs and a 800w COB light in the middle. I think this would be a good compromise for the size closet I have with giving full coverage and different spectrums of light. I will move the other 300w LED I have in the closet back into the tent with the Aurora Indica plants, right before flowering for even coverage when they get big, bringing the total of two 300w LEDs in the tent. I hope this works out till I can afford premium lighting next year.

Budlets showing, yay!

9/11/16 Week 10 Flowering Day 23 - Plant looks good. I think lifting the light helped with deliberate stretching. She's about 10" from the top of the coco/perlite mix now. I still have her tied down a bit though. She's quite bushy, so I defoliated her today. I removed around 200 leaves.

Doing Week4 of the nutes schedule.
9/10: ph 5.62 in 5.66 out 730ppm
9/11: flush ph 5.66 in nutes 5.62 (730ppm in) 5.71 out (498ppm out)

I received both my 600w 3wLEDs todays. I placed one on each side of the 800w COB light so now I have an even spread of light. These 600w lights are huge. So I'm loving the coverage.

Here's how the closet looks with all the different plants and the lights.

9/17/16 Week 11 Flowering Day 29 - She looks good, filled in nicely after the aggressive defoliating last week. Budlets are more pronounced and popping up all over too. I did a flush only today with ph water (5.68ph).

9/24/16 Week 12 Flowering Day 36 - She got real bushy again so I defoliated about 125 leaves, and opened her up a bit more with the coated wire.

9/21 ph 5.75 in 5.68 out 698ppm. I did Week6 of the nutes schedule.
