The Hempire Strikes Back!

I know i been crap at updating lately lol. Tonight when the flower room lights go on im gonna grap some bud shots! Lol.

You're way allowed to take any break action you want. Honestly, I've been flakin all around lately myself. The interest and activity at 420 tend to wax and wane as the years roll by.
The only thing I've been keeping a handle on in my own thread... and that's only because I got sexy new lights in place so I'm all excited about the local plants and the shutter on the camera has been working overtime.

Lex I was looking at the difference between Tead's plants before and after the sexy new lights, and wondering how many watts per square foot you are running.

O man hmmmm I kinda forgot how to do the math for that give me a little bit and i will have an answer to that lol

If the calculator i found to help is right then its 3.5 sqft roughly soooo....... I have 235w of leds in a flowering box that is 3.5 sqft roughly. And that is literally all i can fit in there without heat and space issues. Im pretty sure the light is a little too close thus why my girls look rough lol.

Words like these cause me to appreciate every bit of my current ~10sqft.
So, that's almost 70w/sqft. That seems really good... and the plants are so close to the lights.
An elegant design for your size restricted world. Do you commonly dream of huge grow spaces? I sure do.

Ya i was never too sure if I had adequate lighting, yet with the taller girls they always have leaves that look rough as shit, so i think taller girls get too much light lol. I think now you see why its so vital that i grow in 2L-1gal hempys lol. Ya sure icould grow one decent bush (with training) but why have a harvest ride on one plant? Thats always been where my minds at lol. Ya know i can't say i don't dream of bigger space but that will happen in time i need a few more stars to align first lol. The things i could do with 10sqft even........ Lol.

HA! I bet. It's always a matter of perspective, isn't it?

I'm about to gain more headroom and may grow out of the 2Ls. Shame... I've sure spent a lot of time drinkin Pepsi for grow pots. I'm kind of imagining a grow room full of the PVC pots I made... they seem a balance between a wider regular pot and the skinny 2L format. Of course, if I grow taller plants, they'll be wider too... so.... meh! We'll see what shakes out in the coming days.

Here are my 6" PVC pots in action. The PVC itself is a bit pricey, but scrap can be had here and there. Cutting them straight is a challenge. Sealing the bottom must be done with marine sealant.... could use regular PVC glue if I popped for the plugs made to fit.
I feel like I'm pushing the edges of root bound with the 2Ls, so the PVC tubes could be a real fit for me.

Ive always found with 2L's that if ya want wide girls they are gonna suffer, where 2L's have their strength is with Christmas tree shaped girls and the amount of them you can put in a relatively small space. Though you may be leaving 2L's behind your still sticking with the concept just bigger lol. Those girls look great and sure seem to be digging their hempy pvc pots!

That's cool as hell bud! I use to work with that pvc all the time for water well construction, we d have hundreds of cut off pieces like those kickn around, new I should have saved them for something special.... there are caps available for that pipe but to the tune of $40 bones (cdn) and u have to use glue and primer for a proper fusion, so yea a little pricey but I love what you did! That thinner walled green sewer pipe is significantly cheaper if you wanna bring costs down. We d use a sawzall with a long blade to cut a flat cut, it actually turned into a competition to see who could cut the flattest cut lol, its tougher then you d think ehh?! I was always interested in a horizontal hydro setup using that 6" pipe.

It's great stuff. We have a lot of sewer work going around town ALWAYS... so I can see various bits often. The green stuff I generally see is too big... but I'll check the plumbing supply store soon. The dummy plugs seem my best answer... but they can be surprisingly pricey. I've been using those plastic yard signs that pop up around election times as my bases. I tried many sealants and found that only marine grade sealants work.
Cutting them straight is one trick.... cutting them straight, even, and SQUARE is a much tougher trick! Surprisingly hard. Nylon string can actually be used to kind of melt thru it... running it back and forth... it's melting temp is slightly higher than the PVC and you can slowly chew thru the PVC. Still tho... the best way I've found so far is using one of those vibrating cutters. Hell.... even drawing a straight and square line is a helluva trick.

Ha ha I always use the election signs for stuff. I regard them as a rather ugly seasonal crop that grows in the ditches once in a while. They never seem to bother taking them down after the elections so I take that job on and gather a little harvest of 1/8" galvanized wire, coroplast, and plywood.
When I have to mark pipe to cut it I use a sheet of paper and fold it around to mark it square.

Yea... those plastic signs work great for many things.
The paper trick is my trick. Still tho.. it's surprisingly hard to get an exact smooth and square cut on it. I didn't have a chop saw last time I cut some up... I may be able to get a nice cut with the saw I currently have.
