UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GSC

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

I forgot to mention that there's an upgrade coming for both the Veg Garden and the Ganja Grove soon.
There should be a delivery guy knocking on my door in a few days time with 2 each 144 x 5 watt and 2 each 96 x 5 watt Mars Reflector LED lights. UncleCannabis may have to break out the sunscreen soon. :icon_cool

On another note, while bored in the hotel one evening I finally placed an order for my "wish list" seeds. It will probably take about a month before I receive my parcel so while I wait I'll be playing rock, paper, scissors with myself trying to decide which strains get popped first.
:grinjoint:

One month for seeds, thats a long wait, what strains you ordered?

Ganja Grove Update - End of Week 6 of Flower

Tent Temps: @ 75 day / 67 night
RH: @ 50 to 62%
Light Schedule: 13 on / 11 off

As some of you may know, I've been battling a spider mite / white fly invasion in the Ganja Grove for the past couple of weeks. I applied a total of 4 neem / insecticidal soap treatments paced about 2 to 3 days apart over the course of a weeks time, hung a couple of yellow sticky strips, and lowered my tent temps as much as possible. It appears that something must be working because I see no more signs of either mites or white flies.

I seriously doubt if they've been eliminated completely but I'm extremely pleased that I was actually able to make some progress in slowing their spread.
When growing outdoors I've had entire plants wiped out by white fly and mite infestations within a couple of days. They can really make quick work of things once they decide to make themselves at home. In my past experience once you realize that you have a problem on your hands with these little critters it's usually too late to stop the carnage. (My fingers, arms, legs, toes, and eyes will all be crossed for good luck until further notice....)

The neem treatments definitely stunted the buds but they all seem to be recovering from the unpleasant experience. The Soviet Ripper's are beginning to pack on bud weight over the past week. When I returned home from my trip I noticed that most of the bigger colas were starting to lean over. In anticipation of this I already had some bamboo stakes on hand so I went ahead and got them staked and tied up.

Because the sativas have gotten quite large they were really beginning to crowd the side of the tent where they were placed. Because of the crowded situation air circulation was less than favorable and they were all fighting for their share of light.

In order to make the girls more comfortable I went ahead and relocated the Soviet Rippers and Amnesia against the back wall of the tent and placed the smaller Girl Scout Cookies along the front.

Here are a few pics.

Whew!!! Crossin' my fingers and toes along with you UncleC. Way to be responsive. :high-five:

This is my favorite picture in your stunning update. The bold statement of the bamboo and it's rough-texture cut moved my artist's soul. Well framed.

Thanks Sue.
My artistic soul will get moving in another couple of months once those sticky buds are all dried and cured.

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

I've been keeping an eye on those wicker baskets.. I've talked myself into DIYing some geo-fabric pots, cos it is the cheapest way to do it, and I can sew (ish) but have been looking at hessian/jute ( bit worried about the jute rotting too quickly tho') also, and also shade cloth, mainly cos the thick geo-felt is hard to come by here.. If I can find some of those baskets big enough for cheap enough I might give them a crack...

Hey there Santb and thanks for stopping by.
You may want to take a peek at SweetSue's current grow journal. A couple of weeks ago Sue stitched together a couple of DIY pots similar to what you are planning.
If you are interested in using wicker I suggest that you search out a store that specializes in rattan type furniture as they will usually also handle wicker baskets and the like.

UncleCannabis,

Wow, what a great read man! :bravo: Not to mention the bud porn! :circle-of-love:

So glad I stopped in, I've learned so much already! I'm here to stay and look forward to what other growing gems you have to offer with your experienced green thumb!!

I would love to have your wisdom grace my journal sometime, if you get a chance... I'm an LED sister, altough mine aren't nearly as swanky as yours, and use an organic soil (that I purchase, muy impressivo making your own!) so I'm ready to get on this green train and hoping to be as successful as so many of you "420 Gods." :adore:

Happy growing, looking forward to your next update,

BeautyndeBuds

PS you're funny as shit man, keep it coming!

PSS that seed order, RIDICULOUS :green_heart:

Hey there 420 friends. Apologies for the long leave of absence. I've been away for a couple of weeks due to work and an unfortunate computer breakdown but I've finally got my laptop back from being repaired so I'll be posting an update soon.

There you are. I just figured you were traveling for work. The neighborhood is less exciting without your presence.

Welcome back buckaroo. :battingeyelashes:

Ganja Grove Update

It's now been 10 weeks since I moved the first batch of girls into the grove. Since I was away for a couple of weeks I'll begin by sharing the bad news first and let everyone know why it's a bad idea to purchase a tent with plastic corners / pole inserts.

15703.jpg

It appears that one of the plastic pole fittings failed resulting in a couple of damaged poles, a collapsed tent, and several cuss words. The girls ended up with a few broken and split branches most of which I was able to remedy with tape. I made a temporary fix to the tent but I'll be upgrading soon.

The tent repair job was followed by start of harvest with 2 of the Girl Scout Cookies being the first to be chopped. Trichs were all cloudy so I moved them into my drying tent and they were left in the dark for 2 days before being chopped.

Ended up with 178 grams after drying and trim.

After the drying tent became available again it was now time to transplant a few of the next round of Ganja Girls into their bloom pots and get them ready to move into the Grove.
Vanilla Kush, LA Chocolat, and LSD were the 3 that were selected.
Instead of using newspaper to line my wicker baskets as I've done in the past I'll be using plastic screen this round.
For these 3 girls I've also decided to not add coco or perlite as I usually do. I did layer the bottom of the pot with a 2" layer of coco but none was added to the soil mix. I did double up on rice hulls to compensate for lack of coco and perlite.

After transplant I put them alone in my drying tent with a Mars Reflector Series LED (18/6 lighting schedule) for about 4 days then moved them into the Ganja Grove this morning.
But before moving them into the Grove I had to make some room so that they would not feel crowded. :)

I woke up very early this morning and chopped 1 of the Soviet Ripper's and the remaining 3 Girl Scout Cookies before the lights switched on.
15704.jpg

After about 5 hours of trimming I'm now finally done and ready for a meal, a few bong hits, and a well deserved power nap.
17265.jpg

Drying Tent Conditions:
65 to 68 degrees F
RH 55% to 60%

They should be finished drying and ready to transfer to jars in about 4 days or so.

Not including the 3 girls that were moved into the Grove today there are now 2 more Soviet Ripper's and 1 Amnesia left to harvest all three of which should be ready to chop within the next week or two.

That's about all for now but I'll post another update within the next day or so highlighting the shenanigans in the Veg tent.
:blunt::peace:
