Now that I've got 3 indoor grows under my belt.. it was high time to upgrade the equipment.. I'm hooked on growing and want to advance further. I was thinking about going Hydro but after some reading.. I'm just not ready to take that plunge.. so for now, it'll be a soil grow. Here's some intro info...
For the Tent, I've upgraded the Apollo which had a max height of 5' to a Gorilla Grow tent with 6'7 height.
The added height is VERY nice.. The one and only thing I've found I don't like is there are no vent holes one either sides of the tent, just the back. Not a huge thing, just I would rather have the vents where I can clean them easier. Along with the height.. is the extra support bars on top.. They make hanging a 20-30lb light up there a hell of a lot more easier on the mind.
Now onto the light. I've replaced my (3) 300w LEDs for a brand new 550W.
If you followed along on my last Journal I mentioned I was thinking about it but couldn't see spending the money just then. After debating and then getting a 11% discount on all the new stuff I said why not! This LED is just beautiful.. Among the many features, the control panel was the main reason I chose this LED. Being able to control the Red / Blue / White LEDs and having an internal Timer.. so delightful. I'm just hoping this LED holds up to the companies statements. Seeing as I've not seen one single 'real' review this LED.. I'm delighted to give it a go. If this pup doesn't do better than my Apollo Panels.. well.. It better do something! =)
Here are the 4 shades, full white / red / blue / view mode (which has some red on)
Here's some tech info on the lights..
My old (3) 300w lights were 3.76amp 444watts at the wall. The 550 is 3.44amp 412w. So less amps! I may be able to use my microwave and not blow a breaker! (not!) (and the individual LED's at their peak)
White - .90a 107w / View Mode
Red 1.74a 209w
.96a 115w
I also did a PAR test just to see how the Light would be based on the height.. The coverage @ 30" is what I'll end up going with. Unless it's 2 plants.. then I'll wing it.
For nutrients I also changed from the Gen Hydro to Fox Farm's line. Why? No real reason other than I like trying new things =)
Now.. onto the the Strain. I went with my Girl Scout Cookies Auto seeds.. And after cruising the Forum.. I see they're very popular on here =) so tons of info!
I originally planned on going with 2 plants, but decided 3 may be a better option in case one decides to be a male. Or two!! But shhh.. we won't talk about that =)
I'll be using my usual wet towel
between two plates
I don't plan on scrogging these plants but that may change depending on how they grow. All I know is since harvesting the last plants.. I've had empty nest syndrome.. I miss the sound of the fans! So rather than waiting till I moved and the holidays are over.. HERE WE GO!!
I'll dig into the soil and ratios in rest in a few day(s) once I have something to go with =)
Cheerio!
