I'd be interested in hearing about your homemade soil if you don't mind posting about it. I've stumbled across a few threads in the last couple of days that cover this and it's got me pretty excited to take my soil growing skills to the next level. I'm leaning towards subcool's supersoil method but I'm going have to wait a bit longer to try that out.

Here's a quick update on the Black Domina,
She is starting to grow some serious branches...

I'd be interested in hearing about your homemade soil if you don't mind posting about it. I've stumbled across a few threads in the last couple of days that cover this and it's got me pretty excited to take my soil growing skills to the next level. I'm leaning towards subcool's supersoil method but I'm going have to wait a bit longer to try that out.

My soil is mostly peat moss with a little bit of coco coir, some earthworm castings, pearlite, a little bit of Mexican AND Jamaican bat guano with a tiny bit of native soil. Then I use my organic liquid fertilizers as a supplement, and everything turns out as well as~if not better than expected.

I just made a couple batches of QWISO, check it out
I didn't weigh the trim in the first batch

I started the second batch with one ounce of trim, and I used my double boiler to speed things up a bit

First batch on the right second batch on the left

I also made a screen. I think I might have to drop it down a lillte bit though

Please explain what QWISO is and how to make it. I've been learning a lot about hash, BHO, cannabutter and other extractions, but never heard of QWISO.

Also, the grow looks great! I would definitely drop that screen down if your going for SCROG. Other than that, looks like you know whats up.

QWISO or Quick Wash Isopropal Hash is very similar to BHO. Instead of using butane as your extraction catalyst, you use rubbing alcohol. Soak your trim in rubbing alcohol for 5-10 minutes, strain out the plant materiel, wait for the liquid to evaporate off and you are left with pure Hash.

That is pretty simple. I plan on trying a few extraction techniques, but have been really leaning towards BHO. Butane has a much lower boiling point than alcohol (lower than H20 even), so it's easier to make sure there are no more chemicals in your final product. Only draw back is the potential explosion hazard. But as long as you are careful, that's a non issue.

But then again, I guess if you let the alcohol sit for a day or 2 that shouldn't matter too much!

Ya, as long as you can be patient long enough to wait for all the liquid to evaporate, it turns out just like BHO.
