Hello and welcome to the next episode of the grow show. I'm using Mr. Canucks method of dry amendments in coco. You basically treat the coco like soil and add dry organic nutes to start with, again when you up-pot, and then topdress once every 3-4 weeks during flower. My plants did well using this method during my last grow and I'm hoping to have similar success this go round. I ran into some issues with fungus gnats last time too. I think it resulted from opening the window in the room... won't be doing that again. I cleaned the tent and all of my equipment with hydrogen peroxide to be safe.

The set-up: 4x4 Homebox Growlab grow tent. 1000w lumatek digital ballast - runs anywhere from 600-1100 watts. Starting with a 600w MH conversion bulb for vegging and bumping it up to 1000w hps during flower. I use a Sunsystems Blockbuster 6" air cooled reflector and a 400cfm canfan and matching can-filter. Phresh Intake filter hooked up to another 400cfm fan for clean fresh air.

I've decided to change things up a little and start by breeding a mother to take clones from. I'll take 4 clones once she shows sex and grow them to 15 inches tall (Scrog) before starting flowering. I had some issues with Sour Diesel growing WAY too tall my last go round, and I'm hoping to finish with 30 inch plants this time. Also going to try out MH for the first 2 weeks of flower for the first time in order to try and prevent too much stretching. I'd rather have smaller and more manageable harvests going forward. I'll be keeping a close eye on height. No more light bleaching, burning, and foxtailing for this guy!

Once I have rooted clones I'll be moving them in to Autopots 4 pot system. I'm going with the regular size vs. the XL. It comes with 3.9 gallon pots and a 45L reservoir.

I popped a bean directly into amended coco and tossed a dome over it this morning and have the light about 4 feet away. Let the fun begin!

I do 1000w HID to finish, too. Nice setup. I made my own tent with white/black poly. My first scrog ever is in week 6 of bloom right now. I left my 6500K MH lamp in for 2 weeks during bloom. I don't know if it reduced stretch, as first time with these strains, but I did not get excessive stretch. First time I've ever started bloom under MH.

Nice. The stretch is very much strain dependent, but I've heard that metal halide for the first two weeks helps things
I've got 4 strains in week 6 of bloom in my scrog. What surprised me was that leaf structure(as an indicator of Sativa/Indica ratio) did not predict stretch. The Cheese with the longest thinnest leaves stretched the least, and a very Indica type plant with short wide leaves had quite a bit of stretch. I'll finish these with a 10000K MH lamp. I've read that it stimulates trichome production.
