First Time Grow 4x4x6 Tent With 600W LED

looking good man, how come you're not veging a little longer? you've got plenty of space
I started low stress training so I'm going to veg for like 3 weeks to get more growth for the extra colas.

I think I finally got the fungus gnats under control and pretty much gone. A few left but I spray almost every night once the lights go out with neem oil or the sns 203. Seems to be working pretty good so far but Damn neem oil smells like shit wrapped in a shit sandwich. Other than that I've been doing some low stress training and Joe's Dirt is responding well to it. The others are doing okay with it but till they mature more I'll keep it simple with them.

However, one of the plants is having curls on the tips. Can't tell if it's a deficiency or wind burn, the plants aren't directly in the path of the fans except the oscillating fan. Any ideas?

So my morning consisted of wake and bake and a cup of coffee. So i decided I wanted to experiment with main lining one of the carmelicious girls. Let's see how this goes. So I'm low stress training the Joe's dirt, going to main line this one, and I decided to just let the other two do whatever they want but I'll come through and trim them when necessary. I may decide to top one of them one more time so there would be 4 main colas. This 1st grow is more of a learning experience for me so I'm not expecting much so I'm willing to take a few risks. The next strains I'll be grow are gunna be Headband, gorilla glue #4, blue dream, and a high CBD strain for a friend who has issues with pain and a skin condition, that'll be all theirs. But I wanted to grow some sativa dominat plants, an indica dominat plant, and cbd only plant. I felt like if I continue this then I'll need some diversity so all my bases are covered. But I may end up with 2 plants of each and see what happens. After this grow I'm going to make my own soil so I know it's sterilized and exactly what's in it.

So i bought a few new things, one of which was a shelf, so I repurposed the steel wire shelf into two stands to put the plants on. Seems to work out, and going to get a dehumidifier that can handle more but I'll wait since i won't need it till flowering so it'll be atleast 3 weeks or so, depending. But yeah, here's an update. Oh! And found heaven! Just found and went this warehouse style hydroponics store and I wanted to buy everything but I resisted and just got some more stuff for fungus gnat and other pest. prevention.

So got a ppm pen, I had flushed my plants with bushdoctor sledgehammer because it appeared to be nute burn on the plants, ppm went down to around 150 on all the plants in the run off that I tested, but I had a resurgence of fungus gnats again so did a neem drench and sprayed at night with azamax that was measured out for the highest percentage for it's recommended foliar spray per 1 gallon of water. Also bought gnatrol from Amazon since I've heard good things about it. I'll do that during the next feeding. All water going in is 6.0-6.5, my ph pen stopped working and waiting on a new one to come tomorrow so I've been using a liquid indicator ph kit and it's been working. Seems like these plants are so stunted though. I think it may not have been nute burn and maybe the fungus gnat larvae killing the roots since I've read that it'll sometimes be mistaken for nute burn. I had cut off the heavily affected leaves and did some foliar trimming.

After this grow I will NEVER use black gold or miracle grow soil, both appeared to have came with fungus gnats in it.

Definitely going to use fox farms happy frog one for seed to veg and then when I transplant it'll be in fox farms ocean forest. Or I may just mix my own super soil so I know there's no bugs in it and the proper amount of nutrients that won't be hot like miracle grow and black gold seem to be. Any input anyone? . . .

As a new grower I am glad I went with Coco. You re in charge of all nutrients. Impossible to over water. Is forgiving when you make a mixing mistake, flush with 1/4 mute strength then remix correctly. Cheers!
Yeah, both soils i had at the time have stuff in it for water retention and even with 30% perlite drains nice but stays moist way too long. Hopefully i can make it through this grow and get something going right afterwards.

I'm using 1/4 strength nutes and I'll bring it up. Hopefully after I use that gnatrol stuff my gnat issue will go away so these girls can grow properly.

So due to my constant fungus gnat issue, i decided to take the top 2-3 inches of soil off and covered with 2-3 inches of natural play sand that was prewashed and what not. Going to cover the bottom of each pot with something like panty hose or something like that so the little bastards don't go in through the bottom. Also removed the fabric pot that had carrots growing to outside since didn't wanna do the same thing with it. I had did a soil drench with Sierra Natural Science 203 to kill the larvae and eggs in the soil. So with the sand I should finally start to get everything back on track.

In a few days when it's dry I'll water with some 1/2 strength nutes since the ppm since the flush doesn't seem to wanna go over 150-200 ppm in the run off. All my water is ph'd between 6.0-6.5 and I try to keep it at 6.5 going in.

Here's an update, things are looking good. Still one or two gnats flying around but they'll die soon. More growth, not a ton but enough to show improvement. Did some trimming.

So a few updates, I removed the sand because I think it started to suffocate the plants. I instead put a half in layer of perlite and then an inch or so of perlite and sand mix. This mix seems to be much better, drains better and sand dries out quicker. I've also been doing some low stress training again and with the corrected soil PH to 6.5 and PPM staying around 800 or so in the run off the girls seem to be showing signs that they're improving and starting to grow faster. I think I'll be fine now lol in a few weeks I'll switch them to flower for 6 weeks or so.

Germinated two more carmelicious seeds, and one unknown blue dream seed. Soaked in water for 24 hours and popped into jiffy peat pellets. One popped so far, second one is about two and blue dream is still under the peat. It's in a micro CFL grow box I made, had one 120mm adjustable speed exhaust fan and a smaller 93mm intake fan. Three 6500k Phillips CFL lights, and a small humidity dome. I have a wireless thermometer and humidity sensor to keep it all in check. Keeping humidity above 60% with max of 70% RH. I've been watering with ph 6.5 filtered water, enough to let it dry a little on top then I put a little bit of water on it. So far so good.

Things are starting to pick up. I don't want to veg for more than one week since that fungus gnat issue set me back by a month. Finally getting the girls on track and over 15 days have seen alot of growth of healthy leaves. No more gnat issues. I'm going to flip to flower and change time to 12/12 in a week since I just fed them yesterday. It'll give time to water with ph 6.5 water for that first week and next feeding I'll in tiger bloom. I don't expect much since it's a first grow and I had alot of set backs. But got two more carmelicious sprouting right now. I'll build a larger grow box when they get to big for the current one. Once my current grow is done I'll sanitize and clean everything and transplant them into 5 gallon fabric pots which will help tremendously with over watering. I'll be using fox farms light warrior for first few weeks of veg or so. Then fox farms ocean forest cut with something lighter like light warrior. I think I got this now lol just gotta keep learning.

Had alot of growth lately and later today they'll be in the dark for 24 hours and then I'll switch the lights to bloom, change the light cycle to 12/12 and start using fox farms tiger bloom. This last week I flushed with 6.5 ph water and haven't watered in like 4 or 5 day so after the darkness I'll wait a day and then start feeding. Also, carmelicious #5 popped above soil and is a week since then, he's in black gold all purpose potting mix with added perlite and small amount of recharge. Only 6.5 ph water going in and so far run off ppm are at 800 and on at 6.5-6.6 so looks good. I'm gunna buy a 2x2x3 grow tent to grow the carmelicious till the big tent is ready after I harvest in like 8 weeks.

I wouldn't start flowering as small as your plants are. You will most likely be disappointed in the yield. I grow in a 4X4X5 tent and use a 600W HID light. I like to start flowering when my plants are around 24" tall and are filling up the tent. Typically sativa dominant plants will double in size during the stretch and indicas will usually grow around 1/2 again thier size. At least thats been my experience. Both will get wider and bushier as well. Running 4 plants and letting them fill up the tent I average a little over a pound. Don't be two anxious this is a labor of love.

I will on the next batch, this was kind of a test run with everything. Had setbacks due to soil and fungus gnat larvae infestation. Set me back by a month, got them back on track like 3 or so weeks ago, I'm flipping them because I'm getting 3 new strains coming my way and a veg specific tent coming and some t5 lights. I'll have a propagation grow box, a veg tent, and a final veg through flower tent. Those I'm getting way better soil and I think I have most of the kinks worked out to where the next grow will go much better. That's the only reason I'm not waiting lol I don't expect much yield wise, this was just a learning experience and I've learned a lot since I first started and I'll keep learning now that I've decided to keep going with it :)
