Just A Quiet Country Boy Growing Some Bag Seed, Sept 2019

Interesting. It could have some effect. It would be difficult to tell for sure without some sort of control group, but I like it.
Blue spectrum is compact growth and red allows stretch. I start my babies under 7000k to get the compact growth that I want.
My led in my tent is a mixed use 3500k. This gives me red but just enough blue to keep them from stretching out if control.

Carry on. Your plants look great.

This one should be showing it's sex very soon.... It is in great shape.. I sure don't want to lose it.

Real Purdy plant's you have there. :yummy:

Today they are all doing fine. Their heights from soil level are 24" for the untipped one. 18" for one that I tipped out and pruned... And 15" for the one that the grasshopper chewed on.

I did take some photos a bit ago... see below.

The temptation to do too much is strong.. but I don't want to screw it up.. So I am extremely conservative about what I do. So far so good though.

Trying to get some great details in the photos.. Love the idea of journaling my first grow. A place to keep a record. Cool.
Anyway... I pulled them out for a good dowsing and drain this morning... The one in the 5 gal bucket (it is sitting inside another bucket to collect drainoff) Has developed roots going all the way through the layer of rocks in the bottom and out the drain holes. It has been feeding on the runoff water, which is basically a great hydroponic drink for them. I use an awesome nute supplement. Still not a hint of anything I am worried about, at this time... Here are the best I can do for today. Enjoy

It got down to 40 degrees last night... and will be even colder tonight. I have been running a small electric heater to keep the shed warm at night. The lights do a great job keeping the temp acceptable during the day. I decided to bend the colas down on two of them.. Still letting the taller one grow naturally. My intent is to cut a few clones from it in a week or two. It has a nice bud developing on the tip of it and I am just fascinated with the way it grows. Still happy with the progress as of today.

Beginning of the 9th week, yesterday....Lots of nights when I have to let the heater stay on coming up... a few already past. They seem to have slowed a little.. Fan leaves at the bottom of the single stalk plant turned yellow.. I deduce that I may have overwatered it for a few days... I had previously watered lightly every other day...But with the temp going down significantly since fall set in, they are not needing as much water... So I am going to let them dry out for several days...I have been using the HPS lights for several days, exclusively, but it is definitely making them stretch....They seem strong though... There is some trichomes that are developing and the buds look healthy to me... So Ill just keep doing what I am doing...I did tie down the bud on the single stalk so that light gets to the rest of the plant. That seems to be encouraging other buds to come out of the second and third nodes... Anyway, here are close up photos of some of the buds... The HPS light makes it difficult to get great shots but I can still document what is going on. The one plant that got chomped by the grasshopper is still hanging on with the new leaves on top.... I hope I can keep them all alive....lol

Hiya. Good to see your garden going well.
If you get yourself a pair of those light-correcting, eye-protecting glasses for working under HPS ($12 at a grow shop near me) you can take photos through them and they look fine.

Well we are into the 9th week today. I decided to go ahead and top the single-stalk plant. It should now make better buds at the nodes as well as at the top. Wanted to do it before I got too far into flowering. It has already started to pick up again.
Also, since I trained the other two plants from the beginning they are both growing 4 colas each. The most healthy and faster growing one is producing some NICE looking buds. All of them are getting frosting on them from the heavy trichomes I am expecting. I don't think I have done bad for a first time grower.
My biggest challenge is going to be keeping them alive during the cold spell coming up this next week. I have a radiant heater that I bought and I believe it will do the trick.
I took photos of the buds today.

Next time I believe I am going to set up a SCROG net. Since I needed them to be small I accomplished the same thing with training.

Now halfway into the 11th week. Last night it got down to 24 degrees and I put a little heater blowing directly on the plants.. So far they have survived getting these unseasonably cold overnights.. My buds are still packing on size and the stuff I have been feeding it to enhance the terpines is working well.. It smells great in the shed. Frosty and lots of resin oozing out. I can't wait till I can smoke some of it.. Most of the photos are just of the individual buds on the plants, showing their progress. Kept these plants pretty compact, just the way I wanted to.

Passed the twelfth week, now into the thirteenth. The last few nights have been extremely cold, down to 14 degrees with a very strong wind. My little heater didn't keep up, and the one plant that is sitting directly on the floor had a layer of ice on the overflow pan. I know the roots took some damage as evidenced by the side by side photo. One is before the cold windy night.. the other is the day after... Might lose that one.. but it IS still growing. Will it recover? We will see...
The rest of these photos were taken only with the flash from cam. Really shows where the resin is thick on the buds. They are still filling in nicely.. The weather is going to be a little more agreeable for the next few weeks, supposedly. So maybe I am getting close to harvest. All of the pistils are still white. Stay tuned.
