LED & HPS Combined Grow

It is indeed my absolute pleasure to have you looking over my journal Sue! Im currently finishing my medical science degree and have exams tomorrow, but I just wanted to ensure you that I will catch up with you on all the things you mentioned! Can't wait infact! Seems like we can learn a lot off eachother.

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter, it's really hard. My partner has severe anxiety and paranoia so I do my best to find the medicine which will allow her to find comfort!

More later when I'm free!

The WW wounded auto, coming back hard! Just at 3.9 weeks.

:laughtwo: A true live-and-learn moment. Lol! Thanks for the clue about the air line through the lid. Haha! The little things we don't consider, eh?

You simply hit the button again and it removes the like.

Well.....this was delightful to follow. I believe I'll stick around to watch you get this grow firmly established, and that wounded WW to harvest. I find that the wounded ones give me the most powerful oils. They think you're trying to kill them so they develop more potent concoctions to try and improve the chances of survival. That is not an encouragement to abuse your plants, just a soft reminder that we don't need to beat ourselves up when we hurt them.

Kuddos for putting the tent up yourself. Please tell me you were able to get the glasses repaired. Losing clear eyesight isn't supposed to be part of the plan.

I have to share, this is my bedroom.

I have a 4x4, but I also have a daughter with a severe anxiety disorder who lives in the next apartment, and there's no way to be stealthy with a 4x4 in a 12'x15' room, is there? We compromised for her peace of mind and got two 2x2 tents instead. As you can imagine, it cut down slightly on the number I can grow in big pots, but I grow for her, and it made no sense to stress her out while growing meds to treat the anxiety disorder now, did it?

That compromise allowed me to hang these curtains to disguise the space. I get inspected periodically too, and the last time the inspector pointed to the curtains and asked what was behind there, to which I sweetly responded "Old Victorian buildings have no closet space. That's my Christmas decorations and dead storage." He accepted that explaination and moved on. Made me smile that it can be so easy to be a kindly old woman. :laughtwo:

I have to jump back and give you some reps for the grow. You're doing a great job with the Hydros. I'm running a hempy pot next to my Doc Bud soil pots just for the fun of it. Well.... I say just for the fun of it, but the truth is I've been tremendously pleased with the quality of what I've grown in my hempy pots so far. All this bias in the soil communities about increased quality...I don't find the hempy pot plants to be deficient in any way, so I don't know where that comes from. It's a good argument for finding out from your own experience.

Mr Am4zin, thank you for pointing me in his direction. :Love

Haha ahhh the lovely old woman card! Works every time!

I love your curtain idea, that's just such a fantastic innovation! +rep forsure.

I wanted to ask you, what strains have you found really help the most?

I'm much like you on the opinion amongst mediums, as long as you keep your optimals, optimal for the specific medium used and you're laughing.

Also, did you say Mr Amazn sent you in my direction? Such a bloody top bloke, he is.

- Alex

P.s I'm going to swing over to your journals and have a bit of a sticky beak when I get home :)

THE UPDATE:

Day 35 from seed for the Heavyweight - Fast & Vast auto and AK47 fem.

Day 53 from seed for the WW auto.

The ppm for the hydro plants this week is at 750ish and by the next day it drops to about 730. I feel as if this is an indication that the plant is happy with this level of nutrients :)

I also learnt a little about the relationship between EC levels and the internodal distances of your plants.

Very long story short, maintaining a lower ec through the plants life will make the internodal distances further apart, creating a larger plant but you also sacrifice potency and dense nuggage. Alternatively, if you run a high ec the plant will produce very tight nodes, but ends up shorter but incredibly potent.

With all that said, I feel as if a nice middle ground can be met.

Anyway! Some shots!

First up AK47 fem (Never trained, Topped)

First " knock your exams out of the park"
I also monitor EC and have the same prognosis doctor. Ha ha So serious question. Do you change out reservoir water weekly or, when EC goes above set tolerance level?
Right now I'm growing only WW photo (until I can afford feedbank prices.lol) anyway have about 80 plants in different grow medium/style/phase. Have only been able to get up to 470 ppm. Probably nutrient difference.
Not quite the jabberwaki Sweet Sue is (bless her heart) but, like what your doing.
Be back......NICE

I'd be pulling off them dying leaves, wouldn't be able to help myself. What happened down there? Looks brutal.

*edit* I went back to read, missed the part where you said the light fell on her. :passitleft:
I'd leave it as a reminder to secure lights better.

Happy humpday homeskillet! Everything is lookin good. :volcano-smiley:

Trust me, I've been picking . but some are just so darn stuck on still, and at the end of the day I'll just let my little one cannabalize herself (brutal) then tug them off later ;p

The full story is: I set up my new tent and "secured" the 400w lamp alongside the other 600w and led panel. Then I decided too close up the whole thing to see what Temps got too. Then I smelt something from outside the tent which resembled burning green matter and pop corn :( :( :( :(

80 plants!!!! My god! Lay some pics on me brotha! If you have some time, show me what you got ;)

I love that you mess with different mediums, keeps things exciting and allows plenty of tinkering . which I love!

I would have to agree with both of your above statements; I would definitely change the rez every week or so, but also if the levels climbed too high. Mainly due too how the laws of osmosis conduct themselves. Water always follows the highest concentration of salts. Therefore, if your ec has climbed since the day before, it means the plant is draining its water back into the rez from its leaves in order to follow the highest salt concentration. Which is suppppper not fun.

The short long gist is. I've changed why I grow medical / recreational Cannabis. Thus leading me into the joys of experiments. So right now I have a WW strain from a 98 seed stash growing. Until I have remodeling of flower room done. And, funds avail for seeds. WW and a single "girl scout cookies" egg. This is what I'm working with.
I also like to take a lot of pics ( helps me remember what the he'll I did that day) lol.
Nothing staged here. Pics while checking on the girls tonight.

Latest projects. The 36 in an SOG (36"×22"×6" water volume). Went in Sunday. All were cut during the flower phase (10-21 days in). Hoping to have some very interesting Budsicle's develope.
Oh, before you say anything about the white lid. Light barrier is on the underside. Haha
Anyway the 4 girls in the black tub are a......don't know what LST or training I'll do yet. They were cut from a 37 day flower plant.
We will just admire them for now.

Tray of 21 Budsicle's.
24 days in flower. Clones cut around 9 weeks ago

420-magazine-mobile1121977350.jpg

11 plants. All cloned from flowering plants. Taken 10-35 days in flower. They will end up in various grow sites outdoors. There are 9 more already in the ground on a gorilla grow.

420-magazine-mobile680890763.jpg

These 3 girls oh... a... 4 girls with the runt on the bottom right.lol
Let's see.... 166 days from seed, 66 days in flower. 14 days to go.

And just chopped these in the last 3 weeks. 1/3 harvest each week 8, 9, 10

420-magazine-mobile89727631.jpg

Small SCROG (20"×14") yielded 5.3 zones of bud.
And I still have a couple of rooted clones to play with yet.

I think I covered them all.
Only if I had the room? Hahahaha
I'm doing a lot of experimenting with limited funds. Repurposing and a lot of DIY. It will be slow until I get it all dialed in.
But, it is always fun. Enjoy!

Lol woops I was typing this while walking to work and I was in a bit of a rush. Accidentally messed up what I was trying to say:

If your ec climbs since the day before, your plant is only drinking the water in your rez, and not the nutrients. Which means you need to drop your ec level.

Osmosis doesn't come into what I was saying until we start talking about not washing your rez frequently enough and generating a salt build up, which in turn causes your plants to dehydrate themselves, since all the water in their cells are drawn back down the roots and into the rez. (Where the higher concentration of salts are)

Sorry for the confusion!

My GOD man! Now THAT is some beautiful sights to behold. Constant bud porn, all round. Love it.

Now, serious question. How much time would you say spent everyday on your girls? Just as an idea of how much man power is required, because I must say you have the prowess of someone who has done this MAYBE once or twice .

Also, the experiments of the budsicles are hilarious, beautiful and awesome ALLL at the same time. It's sublime! Hahah

God damn that is a small runt of that age, it's kinda like....I'm not even mad...I'm amazed.

Anyway, thanks so much for sharing that tri!Love your work.

Oh that new tent is gonna be great! Looking real good in there!
Just need to get more plants on the way.
I just need some help, since I have all hps running at the moment (1x 600w and 1x 400w) and running 12/12. I COULD potentially start autos and run them with the full hps spec and led until the harvest of my latest girls. But I'm just not sure if it's worth it.

Probably going to post the question in a more relevant sub forum and see what I get, but if you have any thoughts I would love too know!

First nice tent! Makes things easier and quick.
Girls looking fantastic
I don't know. Running autos to fill up space and get a decent return? Less maintenance. Not much training involved. Why not? Let's you get better dialed in with new tent. Experiment with combined lights.
