this last one is 31 days in flower...but lookin at the pic you could never tell lol

hey legal, plants are coming along. Whats going on with the last one? Doesn't seem to be paying much attention to the flower cycle.

Now you've tried large plants and small plants. Third time is the charm. Even tho they may be small they look like you are gonna get decent colas out of them.
good luck.

Thanks Mmmmick... The little one was put to flower when she was still sexually immature

Yeah, I definately have high hopes and big ideas for my next grow... Gonna be a couple months before I do it tho

So as of tommorow it will be 6 weeks in flower. I've been asking questions around the forum so I might as well ask here as well...

The trichs on the plants are mostly milky (95% I would guess) and some kinda clear. That's not a perfect guess bc I'm working with a simple 5x magnifying glass.

I've decided to flush for a full two weeks bc I've heard some good benefits from it. The question is... Should I start flushing now?

I know I'm supposed to start flushing when i anticipate the trichs will turn 50/50 milky-amber. I just don't know how long that would take from where I am at now.

Bc I tend to see people harvest around 8 weeks a lot, the plan AS OF NOW is to start flushing after one last nute feed... flush for two weeks...then harvest. BUT that could always change based on some of YOUR KNOWLEDGE?!?lol

any help or comments appreciated!

Legal, I just harvested on the 3rd after 8 weeks of flower. I'd givened them a full nute feed along with a weak solution of molasses (6 gals)two weeks before harvest. The last watering was an 8 gal h20 flush one week before I harvested. I'd recommend waiting for the plant(s) to dry longer than you normally would after the last straight water flush just before you harvest. The trick is out guessing the trich's, knowing when to take her in combination with the watering schedule.

Any new photos before you yank her?

Your latest pics don't look like they're very close. No browning on the pistils at all. I know the pistils aren't the best guage. A 16 buck scope would help you decide using trichs. I wouldn't consider the seedhouse estimate to be exact when it comes to finish time.

Buy yourself a scope, you'll find a lot of wonderfull things to look at in your garden other than just trichs.

I took a quick read back through your journal to see if you swapped the MH out but didn't find anything. Do you think the metal halide might take longer to finsh the plants?

OLDSKOOL - so your saying wait longer in between waterings? and only water one heavy time a week prior to harvest?

Mmmmick - my latest pics do not do it justice...there are several brownig hair...also i take pictures with a phone and its not that good

what do you mean by seedhouse estimate?

and how do u use a microscope on a plant? u pull one of the leaves off?

from what ive read i havent heard anything about a MH making it take longer to flower...all it said was that it would produce smaller yield...but higher potency

I'm saying let the plant dry out longer than you normally would after the last h20 flush. I'd recommend using 4X the volume of the pot size on your last flush......example, 3 gal pot, use 9 gal of h20.

Opps, head up my arse...3 gal pot, use 12 gal of water, insures a complete flush. Take your time, water, let it drain, water again, let it drain. Repeating this cycle until complete.

Yes, you cut a small piece of leaf, then check it with your scope. You can check it on the plant, but you'll mess up a lot of trich's, and cover the bottom of your scope with sticky resins. Know from experience:cheesygrinsmiley:

Oldskoool is right about the flush for sure that what I did it 2 weeks before I believed they would finish flowering. Then I watered as needed after the flush. As far, as figuring out when to harvest, I tried my best to pay attention to the color change, and trusted my gut, maybe I just got lucky, but I ended up with a good tasting and smooth draw, with a great high! ...... So trust your gut I'm sure, you be fine, keep us posted, and don't forget to take some pic's of your bud porn!

Oldskool- so how many times shold i flush total? gorrilla makes it sound like i only flush once 2 weeks prior to harvest...and then water regularly as needed

i get the whole let it dry longer part...but its the whole flushing schedule...originally i was under the impression that the "flush" period of preharvest just meant to use no more nutes when watering for the remainder of time

so what exactly should i do from start to finish?
after the initial flush (4x pot size, 2 weeks prior to harvest)

do i flush every other watering? do i flush twice? or do i flush everytime they need water?

Gorilla
thanks for the advice and the pep talk...man its getting down and dirty now...its crunch time so im tryin to get all the help i can

yea ill be posting some pics soon

Quick Update

i bought a microscope from radioshack that was a really good deal...10 bux and the mag is 60-100x...

anyways i took a better look at the trichs and confirmed that one plant is about 80%milky and 20% clear

the other plant is more 50/50 with milky and clear trichs

so the plan for now is to go ahead with flushing the more milky one...and let the other ride it out a lil more

comments welcome!

nice buy..Yes I would start to flush after the last feeding then check the trichs starting at week 7 jsut to make sure you dont have an early finisher. Its happened to me before. I thought a certain strain was going to finish at week 8 and didnt check til week 8 and it was 75 % amber. This was not good to much of a coucklock!! so check starting at week 7 but most strains finish up around week 8. And like Gorrila said trust your gut. But dont trust your impatience, this always pops up when it gets close to harvest. IMHO
