MGD420 Grow Journal: Jan 2022

While raking through cupboards for the Epsom I decided to look for anything that could be useful, would this be any good if in future the plants need potassium.

I wouldn’t use this as a source of potassium. There’s too much chloride and there are better sources of K - like potassium sulfate and potassium silicate.

Hiya MGD
That mix is good to go - it should come in around 300 ppm TDS/0.6 EC
YMMV

@FelipeBlu

After mixing the following
1 Litre of tap water
0.8ml calmag
1ml micro
1ml grow
1ml bloom
0.2g Epsom
THE nutrients readings on the bluelabs truncheon sit between PPM500/TDS
500 and 600.
EC 1.0 - 1.2

Wow! AN has more non-nutritive ingredients in their products than I thought. The elemental ppm is less than 200. Well, it’s a great starting mix anyway.
So it's still good to mix and go, no need to dilute any further ?
I have another TDS meter there I could check it next time to give a more accurate reading if you wish.

Thanks again

Yeah, they can handle it
:morenutes:

They are looking great - perhaps just a bit pale. They are ready to eat!
:morenutes:

Would you suggest keep feeding them
0.8ml calmag
1ml micro, grow, bloom
0.2g Epsom
Per litre of water.

I also have the Voodoo juice and B52 supplements that's recommended by Advanced nutrients and the rhino skin that bill suggested should be here sometime this week

Hey @MGD420 hope you are well today.
All you need is the cm,micro, grow, bloom.
200-300 ppm is plenty.
Or your 1ml formulation.
For now.

Stay safe
Bill

Hi Bill.

Thanks for the reply.
I'll keep them on what you've suggested for now. Would it be a good idea to up to say 1.5ml or 2ml per litre of the micro, grow, bloom over the next week or two

Week by week yes.
Do you have a schedule for your nutrients?
Your goals here are
1) build roots.
Build roots as big and as fast as she possibly can.
Fill that pot.
Always water where you want the roots to go.
Don't get lazy roots.
Now is the time.
2) get them eating as much as possible.
Coco right?
Feed every day at 5.8
No plain water ever.
Take control get them on the schedule asap keep pumping the ppm's.
Turn them into a bunch of hungry big girls.
Strong, fit, healthy :thumb:
Take control.
That's the beauty of coco.
Your in control, they will respond almost immediately to your inputs.
Nutrients, temp,rh,and light.
Keep pounding the light into them once they get rooted in the final pot.
It's going to be a great grow. :yahoo:

Hi Bill. Thanks again for the reply and advice.

I've got the Budlabs app that has a schedule I could follow, it's meant for the advanced nutrients line up.
Budlabs recommend

Week 1
For every 1 litre of water add
1ml micro, 1ml grow, 1ml bloom
2ml B52, 2ml Voodoo juice

Week 2
2ml micro, 2ml grow, 2ml bloom
2ml B52, 2ml Voodoo juice

Week 3
4ml micro, 4ml grow, 4ml bloom
2ml B52.

Week 4
Same as week 3

I think the B52 and Voodoo juice help to promote root growth.

How do I go about building roots faster and preventing lazy roots.
You mention water where I want the roots to go. What do you mean by this ?

Yes the plants are growing in coco/perlite.
The humidity in the tent could be a bit higher at the moment so I'm using plastic food bags to cover the pots to create more humidity. The plants are being fed once daily with the advanced nutrients.
Once they get big enough to transfer they will be going into 25L hempy buckets with a 50/50 mix of coco and perlite.

I think you have it right I'll see if I have the base chart for AN.
What I mean is don't water her roots water away from them so they follow the water tword the outside of the pot.
If you just flood that pot there is no incentive for the roots to grow.
You want them chasing the water to the outside of the pot.

Stay safe
Bill

I think this is the chart

Thanks for the reply Bill.

Yes that's the chart. The budlabs app uses the same feed chart.

Thanks for answering my questions.
Makes perfect sense that I should water around the edges as apposed to in the centre to encourage the roots to grow outwards and fill the pot.

Peace.

The Week 2 dose provides:
120 ppm N (probably ok for most vigorous strains but some may complain)
26 ppm P (ok)
132 ppm K (probably ok for most)
48 ppm Ca (low)
2 ppm Mg (low)

I would add 1.2ml/L CaliMagic and 0.33g/L Epsom to bring Ca up to 108 ppm and Mg up to 52 ppm.

The Week 3 dose is too high - it doubles the Week 2 ppms
May I refer you to my previous post re the Week 3 dose? Myself, I would stay at the Week 2 dose unless I saw the need to raise it (lower leaves starting to get light green).

I need to get a chem schedule. Like y'all got. I just pour some in gallon jug and water them
Do you measure
or do it like GrandMa cooks?

I presume that you are an experienced grower and know how to read your plants - otherwise..

I acknowledged it in another post my friend and took on board what you said about the nutrient dose for week 3 being double what it was in week 2.
I was replying to Bill that the feed chart I have on the budlabs app was the same.
