Day 49, as in 49 days from day 1 of 12/12 or 49 days from first signs of sex?
I'm a little unsure of when flowering ACTUALLY starts?

Being an inside grower, you have control of the environment, so day 49 in this case means 49 days from when I changed the lights to a 12/12 cycle.
most indoor growers start flowering time at the first day they flip to 12-12, outdoor growers count their first day of flowering as the day they showed signs of flowering, confusing i know, some growers go by one or the other, for me its 12-12 is day 1 of flower

do you prefer to harvest when you have a higher amber count, the buds are at their ready stage when all trichs are cloudy, what i do is cut a few of the sweet leaves off, well not cut them off, but you know the single blade leaves that come out of the bud that are covered in crystals, well i cut a few of these off all over the plant and have a look at the one by one, usually the ones at the top of the plant are ready first unless you are using lst or scrog grow, but a normal grow is usually done at the top first, now when i harvested last time i waited till all the bottom ones was cloudy but this meant the top buds or higher up buds had a higher amber count, which is good if your looking for a couch lock affect, but i have been reading that the plant is at its best and ready to harvest when its all cloudy, which isnt so easy to ensure as the buds lower down might not be ready.
anyway ill stop rambling on and boring you to death, what i did with an auto is i harvested the top when it was ready and put it back under the lights, and i found that once you remove all the top buds or say the top half of the plant, what happens then is the plant then thinks the buds that are left are the main buds, so what i found was this, if i harvested my auto in one go i would of get about 25 to 28g dry, but i harvested it 3 times, the 1st time i got 20g dry, then it went back under the lights, then i was amazed that all the small buds left on the plant suddenly started fattening up really quick, so then i harvested again, this gave me more than it would if i harvested it in one go, then i left the smallest of buds and i do mean small, the inner buds that would normally go in the trim box, i put these back under the lights and i got to admit it took another week or more to get these buds ready, but i harvested it again and i recon when its dry ill get between an 1/8 and 1/4, so i actually harvested it 3 times, i only did this as it wasnt taking up any room in the flower room as it was an auto, so i know this is not always the best idea and means more flower time, but just thought id pass on what i found when i did it myself.

Well done mate, I'm on day 42 today for me. Got my mate coming over from Amsterdam on the 31st, I'm hoping to have the tops off mine by then and leave the bottom under, especially my Chocolope as it has a little birds nest in the middle of the six tops.

Here's GDP chopped at 62 Days. I have 1 GDP left in the room after I took 3 of the 4 mains. I wish the GDP had the big main colas that the other strains have, I will do better next time. There is a bright side, lotsa material for bubble hash and they do smell really good.
Both the Bay 11 and Ken's Kush are still not ready, they are at day 64.

And here is the last of my first grow. What a great learning experience, I can see why it takes years to master this. My hats off to all of you.
All of these colas are well over 6" and sticky as hell.
