OldManJJ Grows Again!

Ok, update time!

Things are humming along nicely in the garden. The girls are all transplanted, scrogged and almost ready to flip. I say almost because, well, there were some hopefully minor problems to correct. As I was getting ready to transplant, I noticed a problem on one of the clones I received from my brother. The dreaded powdery mildew. Perhaps the humidity went up too high during lights out, who knows. Maybe I should invest in a controller but, with the price of boat gas and my love of the water, it's not a high priority. Especially being that this is the first time I have encountered something like this in my garden.

On a positive note, I can't say enough good things about T-Drops, I have been adding 2-3 drops at every watering during this grow and the annoying little black bugs are not liking it!!

Things are humming right along in the garden. Still see some small signs of powdery mildew here and there, it's contained to the lower inside of the girls. They were treated last week and will be again today, hopefully that, with some defoliation will finally wipe it out. No real signs of deficiency except for the cotton candy in the small tent. We will see if I can get her back to happy again. Looks like she want's a little more nitrogen than the Michigan Mediums soil is providing (to me). Maybe one of you will spot something different.
After confirming compatibility with Michigan Mediums, all girls are getting 10ML of Sweet Stash from All Day Organics. Hopefully, this will make the buds fat and full of resin.

@Bill284 There are 2 Co2 bags in the 5x9, and 1 in the 5x5. Both tents are in flower now. They should be done with stretch this weekend and then we will do a heavier defoliation. After that it will just be maintenance until it's time for chop.

Well first I have to get over the shock of seeing an update.

Wow! Those look awesome! That first picture canopy is spectacular! (They’re both real good). Plants look pretty healthy and I agree, whether it’s the soil or not they appear to want the N. Fricking junkies. Nice update!

We made it to week 3 and the girls got a haircut. Still seeing some slight Powdery Mildew in the little tent but it seems to be just a few fans, low in the middle and those were trimmed away. I will spray them again this week with this:

Hopefully that will knock it out for good.

Buds seem to be stacking nicely and they are starting to show some frost. By the look of things, trim jail may SUCK.

On another note, I am anxiously waiting for my screens to arrive so I can make old school dry sift hash, Frenchie Cannoli style! I have so much trim and other buds that I need to do something with it before harvest. My friends are going to enjoy it for sure.

I have all the materials to make dry sift hash and will be doing that buuuut, it's a hella long, labor intensive process. Since I don't want to invest in a press, I have been looking at different extraction methods. During my search, I came across some using Acetone as a solvent. I had a chance to try it as a kid but at the time, all I saw was acetone and I was like nope, not for me thanks. Perhaps I was wrong? Thoughts?

Ha! Thanks for the heads up on the rabbit hole @oldmanjj! I’ll give you my opinion: I’m not putting acetone anywhere near my buds. Not when there’s so many easy extraction methods that don’t involve industrial chemicals. Hell I have a pound of kief just using the Trim Bin. My next move is the dry ice/bag extraction. Seems to get the most out of it - significantly more than a trim bin, and you can easily control the cleanliness of the end product simply by using another finer screened bag. My two cents!

I was gonna say, yeah, that doesn’t quite explain. You have 3+ pounds and a ton more coming. I get that. I still wonder what “too much” means.

@Bill284 that's the thing, I don't smoke much. In a joint, it all tastes like shit to me, no matter who grew it. Pretty much the same with bowls and bongs. I smoke once a day before bed in a dry herb vaporizer, about .3 grams, LOL. That will take a LONG time!

I'm with Bill on the dry ice hash. Seems the simplest way to me and it's how I'll be processing any "extras" going forward.
