subbed in now :)

I'd stop with those foliar sprays if I were you, not necessary. Especially while the lights are on. I can't believe this journal has gone so under noticed. I'm also new to 420 mag, but I've gone through a few grows in my time. It looks like you've read up on what to do for your first grow, you have a pretty nice set up, though CFL's aren't the best for flowering. Here, have some reps, welcome to 420 mag. I'll keep an eye on this for those issues we talked about in the other thread. good luck!

I thought I was doing a good thing applying a tiny mist on the leaves...
But I am stopping those effective immediately...
I just read somewhere that the water droplets could act as tiny magnifying glasses and burn the leaves...
Could explain those spots we talked about already...which dont seem to stand out as much today as they did last night...

I truly appreciate your interest in my journal and all your excellent advice!! I do hope you follow me along this journey...:high-five:
Thank you for the reps and the welcome as well...

As far as the setup goes, its basic at this point...
The ATTICfail pictures you may have seen on the first post didnt work out...LoL
I know CFLs are the "bottom of the barrel" when it comes to lights, but affordability prevails hahaha...

Im about to post yesterday and todays progress and also another update in the "problem" thread as well...

talk soon!!!

Day 13
Veg. Day 2
06-24-14 6:30 pm

-Plants growing in succession
-One large one medium and one small
-All growing well and looking healthy
-No Nutes
-No poured water / slight misting of each plant
-No domes
-Temp.: 84 deg - 106 deg
-Hum.: 265 - 43%
-24 hr light

Hey Raven, Those seedlings don't need any nutes this early. The soil is enough for first 2-3 weeks at least. Your temps and humidity are all over the place. You need to get them under control. Be consistent, it's ok if your temp is a little high as long as it is consistent and the plant isn't showing any ill effects, but personally I wouldn't let the temp get above 90. Same with humidity, be consistent, try to keep it between 35% and 50%. If you are supplying air and venting the grow area, your intake supply should be down low where the air is cooler and exhaust up high where the air is warmer. Supply cool air, vent the hot air.

Day 17

-24 hr light
-Fanned plants for 1 - 2 hrs

IMHO I wouldn't mist the seedlings, the water will magnify the light and can burn the leaves. I would just water them when they need it and would leave the misting alone. They look good at this point, Keep up the good work.

Subbed! Looking good in here...I love a cfl grow as that is what I am using, but I don't think you will have a problem misting them using cfl lights, I use cfl's and mist everyday and have not had any problems...just my 2 cents...No offense intended Shadowman.

Hey Shadow!
I started the nutrients at low strength but pretty early as you said and I agree...
It felt too early but I was going by the FF soil feeding schedule which shows to give a little bit of nutrients even starting as early as seedlings and cuttings (see image on first page for chart)...
I know the temps and hum has been all over the place but I thought that ranges throughout the day were ok...
I realize the temps have been getting to high but I am not setup with any vents or intakes at the moment...
It was way too hot in my attic so my plants are using up my MPC table in my music studio room at my house...They are not contained INSIDE anything...They sit atop a 2'x2' table I made a long time ago...I have two towels hanging from the ceiling to block their view from anyone outside but thats it... the room itself gets really hot some days and even with A/C on constantly its hard to keep it under 75 (in the room) but the temp behind the towels directly under the lights it stays hotter...Could my readings just be off? From the group shots of the plants you can see how they are sitting there and I usually put the temp/hum meter lying on top in the middle of the pots facing upwards directly under the light...
I have plans to build a box with vents and intakes very soon...I will make a separate thread for that build and document everything...
:peace:

Im 100% with you on this now after talking with SoilGirl and a few other threads I read into...
They said exactly what you did...
The water droplets can act as tiny magnifying lenses and burn the leaves...Which could explain my fears about my Large Plant in the "problems" thread you have also posted in...The upper fan leaves were showing white and or yellowish spots on them...and I couldnt find any traces of mites or anything else...

:peace:

Thanks again for the subb!!
Per my last post I am going to stop the misting for now to see if that indeed was the cause of the spots I have been seeing...
I love CFLs so far ... they are low watt but still do a great job... As Ive said before, Afford-ability Will Prevail!! LOL

Hey Raven, it's all good brotha, I hope I didn't come off too strong in my post. If I did I certainly didn't mean it. I understand budget issues, I deal with it myself. Your readings are probably accurate, if you know the temp for a specific area, place it there and see what it reads then you'll know for sure but it's probably reading correctly. try moving it away from the lights and get a temp and humidity reading for the room in general. My tent stays around 82-84 during lights on and 75-77 when it's dark buts that's every day. It looks like your temps spike and then fall off drastically and humidity is about the same. That's not good for them, it stresses them. Try to stabilize them. You'll do fine and obviously they are not dying on you. I would leave a fan going 24/7 but not directly on them constantly, just move the air. They do look good. I hope I'm not being too critical of you. That's not my goal. Take care and I'll shut up now.

Shadow my friend! Nothing strong about your post other than its validity!! LOL
I know all too well how difficult it is to discern or convey TONE through text...so no need to apologize for anything, as youre only doing me a favor by looking into my grow and providing your expertise...
Same goes for everyone who posts to my threads!! :thumb:

I completely agree with you on the temps...I am going to try to control it with the A/C starting today...The room that the plants are in is all over the place with temps...
During the day its cool in the morning then gets super hott then cools down again at night...
Its frustrating and I have to build a box to truly control the situation...

I have also started leaving the fan on all day (not directly on plants) to move the air around to help the issue...

The last thing I want for my plants is a stressful environment...

Anyway...Please be as critical as you can! I want the constructive criticisms and all...
And plese DO NOT shut up hahahahaha
