This is my first grow and I'm currently 9 days in, hoping everything goes to plan. I've done so much research and come to the conclusion that this community seems to be the most informative, helpful and friendly that I have found. Wish me luck! ✌

Day 9 - First pest problems.

I found 2 or 3 whiteflies on a couple of my leaves this morning and I'm not sure whether this is damage they have caused or eggs etc. I've already ordered some Neem Oil but it won't be here for a week or so, I've made an apple cider vinegar jar trap in the meantime. Any suggestions are more than welcome. ✌

Howdy WreckLoose! I hate when the bugs start eating the leaves the second they get big enough to chew on. It happens to me a lot outside. Neem might be a but strong for something that young, but white flies are easy to kill.

Hydrogen peroxide will do it (3 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide, and a few drops of dish soap. Pour it in your spray bottle, shake it up and spray), along with Safer brand insecticidal soap spray, and if you have any Dr Bronners unscented castille soap, that is great for bugs of all types.

Keep us updated!

Thanks for the help and speedy reply Shed! It's tough to get my hands on any supplies in a hurry right now due to the lockdown but the H2O2 shouldn't be a problem. I reckon I'll keep them indoors until I can go buy some on Monday. Do you reckon they are just chomp marks rather than eggs then? I sure hope so!

Highya WL,

Great job so far! I used the yellow sticky traps that worked for me. Oh, and the eggs - they'd be on the underside of the leaf. Ima follow along. Looks like a fun learning experience (autos). Happy Smokin'

See these are the types of posts that confuse me. Battling pests is all new to me. Mixing the H2O2 with water and a couple drops of dish soap is easy enough. You say how much of each to use. BUT then you "throw in" along with Safer soap spray and Dr Bronners unscented soap. Are those two in addition to the H2O2, water, and soap? Or are they used separately?

Options. They're options.

Thanks Bode! I feel like I really did my homework before starting but just didn't foresee pests showing up quite so soon. I'll definitely add some sticky traps to the shopping list, thanks for the input. :)

In! @WreckLoose I'm glad to hear you say that you did your homework. By doing your homework before starting, I feel you'll have a much more successful grow. That means you'll have less stress and more enjoyment. And isn't that part of the reason why we do it. I'm look forward to your grow.

I couldn't agree more. :) Saying that, I assume I'll undoubtedly still make my fair share of mistakes along the way but just trying my best to minimise as many rookie mistakes as possible. It's all a learning experience after all.
