My First Grow Ever!

Hump Day Cannaporn Update

Looks like I was right to let plant 4 keep going. I have had to use pipe cleaners to help support almost all of her branches. They were starting to crimp and fall over from the weight. WooHoo!! I've smoked some of plant 3, and wish I had let her go a bit longer. Nice heady buzz but not the punch I was expecting. I am definitely going to have to invest in a better loupe, or microscope to judge ripeness. My OEM eyes and the cheap tools I have are not up to the task. Lesson learned. No big deal though, still good smoke and enough of it to last almost four months.

#4 has been a thirsty girl. Already 4 1/4 galllons this week and two more days to go. This will be her biggest water consumption week so far, as she usually only takes the aforementioned 4.25 gal in a week. I said early in this journal that I thought #3 was going to be my big producer, I'm not sure now. I'll leave you with some pics I took earlier today, hope you enjoy.

BTW, today is day 108 from breaking ground.

Man Riffleman, those pistols are crazy-long! There's your biggest producer right there! That, is going to be sweet, my friend.
Keep 'em green! Andy.:goodjob::Namaste:

Genius!

Hey Rifleman!!:welcome:

I am new myself, but this site is really nice. A lot of people actually take the time to respond and help others out. In regards to ur heat issue, i would imagine if you could keep a good supply of clean cool water available, you could try to control your temps that way. I see that having a lot of issues though. A lot of wasted nutes and making sure your water is perfect every time. If u can get a fan and place it up higher to act as an exhaust, that would help. Keep it as high as you can as that's where the hot air is. Even just a little desk fan or something to at least create a flow or draft. Just getting the air moving will help cool it down some. You can also try something like this to blow cool air in:

This seems like a pretty simple setup as long as you're not blowing the air directly on the plants. They may not like the cold air.

Good luck and I'll be watching with excitement!!

When did you start? I am about half way through flowering now in my journal. Is it too early to start on mine?

LightAddict is the back building guy. He can probably give you a better idea of when to start, but since you asked....I clipped mine when the buds finally looked like buds, still with white pistils and green growth below. AND again later on after they had swollen and it appeared as if the plant might go longer and have time to benefit. I think it was worth it... :)

Ok cool. Hopefully he moseys on in this thread and can lend some advice. I will definitely be backbuilding but I just dont want to do it too early and stunt the growth ya know?

Just took a look at your pics. You're right where I was the first time I did it. Good luck.

Omg, I'm an idiot. I accidentally posted this on your journal. My bad man!!!

NoSweatyDah, thought it was funny myself. Hint; you're not the first one to do so.
Also FYI, I have snipped that top bud a couple of times...just couldn't help myself.

When you say you snipped the top, did you just repeat the same top cutting or did you work on some side flowers?

Just the top, but a little here and there all around it. It is as big around as a soup can. Next time I will do each individual bud site up and down the branches. :)

Why? Why are we doing this? I don't get the concept.

I see. Humm. Just the thought of chopping the tops is a little scary.
Thanks :)

It's only about a 1/8 to a 1/4 '' snip ya I was too but like the results I like a nice NUGG instead of a long bud they fit nicer in jars look better in bags. Weather or not it adds more weight is up for debate, the first time I tried it I only did a few tops on each of my plants. So go ahead its not like you need to do the whole plant just try a few buds and decide for yourself.

Rifleman I have to say outstanding grow you had here buddy, a harvest to surely be proud of buddy nice job and your only gonna get better each grow. :bravo:

The strain im growing at the minute (big buddah's blue cheese) foxtails like crazy at the end of flower, would this backbuilding technique stop that ?
