Thanks Bode! Been fighting the urge to cut a tester. I have enough stuff I can wait and be patiently impatient for the full on harvest. We're getting real close on her. Smells devine as well
:thumb: Nice pics:cheer::high-five::bongrip:
Thanks Dynamo! Broke out the Nikon again....seeing if we can't break down some of this communication barriers that seem to always be lurking lol.

Alright, alright, alright!! Harvest day again here today. Got two of the three remaining girls in Flower tent 2. Was considering taking the Garlic Sherbert but she's still drinking so I'm going to let her go another 3-5 days. That means we took down the Super Lemon Haze and the Triple OG.

Triple OG (Reg) - Exotic Genetics - Flip Day 70

Super Lemon Haze (Clone) - Greenhouse Seeds - Flip Day 70

The Super Lemon Haze smell like straight up Old English furniture polish. Excited to try her in a few days! Cheers!:ganjamon:

How can I have a favorite with them looking like that man! Dang! Maybe the garlic sherbert no wait, beautiful work Van!

:thanks: Hope you are having a stellar day bud!

That's a common theme for me a lot of times.....this one is my fav...wait, no, this one is...nope, this is it. Every once in a while I get one that holds that spot the entire time its in the tent. That Jelly Wifi that is almost done has been one for me....but she's in the other tent, in this tent in was more of the rotating favorites theme. Once that Garlic Sherbert comes down, I'll give the tent a good cleaning and move two more into the opening spot and I get to do the "pick the favorite" all over again. I will be moving the "blueberry muffin" pheno of the Stankberry into flower. I kept that clone off the outdoor mom small for a while as I cleared the logjam, but I am excited to see her grow indoors. That whole outdoor Stankberry is gone! First empty bucket from the outdoor harvest.....I tell ya, its some seriously good smoking weed brother!
Absolutely stunning as always.
Thank you my friend! While I might not always respond to each comment, I do greatly appreciate the kind words.

Ya know, its kind of funny. I was helping a buddy with a harvest here recently and he was sharing sentiments that others had of organic water only growing. Lots of them believe you can't grow organically in small containers and keep plants happy and healthy from start to finish. I always smile when I hear that same sentiment being shared by others and walk down into my garden and smile.....Good thing it can't be done right!!

The Super Lemon Haze flowered for 70 days in a 3 gallon pot, and you can see the pictures above...nothing bad looking with that plant. Don't use a pH pen, don't own one. No bottled nutes other than 2 or 3 feedings of hydrolyzed fish fert, and those aren't even really needed (I just like to keep the energy of the soil up) at a rate of 1 tablespoon for 4.5 gallons of water, along with one top dressing of my homemade all purpose fertilizer.

Same story with the Triple OG, another 70 day flowering plant. One top dressing and the same 2 or 3 feedings of the fish fert. She was in a 5 gallon so she had a bit more room, but she still looked really healthy. A bit more of the bigger fans starting to get consumed so she looked a bit more haggard.

Oddly enough the MOB, which was grown in the biggest pot of the bunch (8 gallon) looked the least healthy at harvest. Just goes to show, each plant will behave a little differently. I've had other plants start just absolutely devouring every single fan leaf beginning as early as 25 days into flower. That happened in a 15 gallon pot and she still produced a pound so it certainly didn't hurt yield at all. They won't all be the apple of your eye, and you will get the occasional ugly duckling, but generally they stay relatively happy and healthy in my soil even in small pot sizes. 2 gallon is as small as I have gone flowering and that got almost 2 zips.

One warning though, don't expect the same growth rate as the bottled guys or hydro, it just won't happen. You just gotta build the longer veg time into your schedule if you want bigger plants. Figure the balance that works for you between bigger plants and longer veg times or more plants and shorter veg times. For me its all about maximizing my space being used. I've got 25 square feet in each of the flowering tents, I need to get the most out of them and not waste the energy being used in there. I also like variety over quantity, so I prefer running six 5 gallon pots with lets say a 60 day veg time than running four 10 gallon plants with say a 90 day veg time.

I use a base of 70 days as a guideline for flowering times. Going off that, I can get 5.2 harvests in a year in my flower tent. 4 x 5.2 is 20.8 strains if I grew in four 10 or 15 gallon pots all the time vs 6 x 5.2 is 31.2 strains in that same year. I get roughly a 33% increase in variety, while keeping the yield per cycle roughly the same. I've hit yields as high as 7.25 zips from a 5 gallon pot and generally average right at 5 zips from a 5 gallon pot. I lose an ounce in the winter grows and gain an ounce in the summer grows it seems. So its common for me to see the same strain yield 4 zips in the winter flower cycle, 5 zips in the Spring and Fall cycle, and 6 zips in the Summer cycle....all because of my temps in the basement. I see a 25 degree swing from hot to cold season.

Sorry for the rambling guys, I get carried away at times! Time to take the mutts for their daily mushing! See you all back here in a bit.

Hey Van, that's not rambling man. Appreciate you taking the time to share your approach. Awesome growing! :thanks:

Highya VS,

Love your not rambling. I like to learn things, like how much the cellar yields summer vs winter. I tried a couple times but couldn't get the room warm enough throughout. I'll stick to outdoor growing. Thanks for that! Happy Smokin'

I fear often times, I am repeating things I have said at least 14x in the previous 2 years worth of ramblings and I would hate to do that so often times I start to ramble and then delete 3 or 4 paragraphs I had written LOL.
That's not rambling, that's hard core analysis. Love it! Of course, you're the guy I got grams/day from so it's no surprise there.

And though those harvested plants are beauties, my fave is also the Jelly in the other tent :).
Well as much as I would love to take credit for that, the credit for grams per day over the course of the grow was @Graytail .

Well lets see.....I have been running Grandpa Tokins GG4 for a while. She will generally get me 30 grams per gallon in fall and spring, 35 grams per gallon in the summer, and I just harvested one a week or so ago that was grown in a 7 gallon pot, and yielded 175 grams which equates to 25 grams per gallon.

That would be about my best description of the impact of temps in my basement has on my growing. I am not mathematician but I'd say the temp swing impacts it about 30-35% from the warm to the cool season. Quite a bit for sure, especially considering that the electricity ain't any cheaper in the winter!

Keep rambling, I'm learning. I have seriously learned quite a bit since reading your journals. I have changed my setup to all organic, stank recipe. I have already acquired everything to mix it up, just waiting for warmer temps to throw it all together. I prefer quality and variety over quantity.
I do have one question, when u too dress your plants, what do u use and how much? And as to the fish fertilizer, when do u use it?

Please make sure you get a good cook in, that's really the key with my soil I have found out. Bad cook.....bad grow.

Top dressing....depends on the phase of growth. I always add in glacial rock dust, kelp meal (The finer the grind the better),Epsom salt, and gypsum. The reason for those always is the demand cannabis plants put on soil for calcium and Magnesium. The kelp meal also provides up to 70 micro nutrients so it might be the best overall amendment you can top dress with. Go light, you don't need much.

The glacial rock dust is for the herd. Some people like to feed simple sugars. Well, what's more healthy for them? Minerals or sugars? Hint, it's the same answer as with us. Also add in some EWC to help kick everything into high gear.

In veg, I might add in a bit of nitrogen with the above items...bat guano or something similar. Keep in mind, all the soil gets reused so anything unused is there for the next run.

In early flower if i top dress, I will use all the stuff for veg and add in some seabird guano or other amendment higher in "P". Kelp meal will provide any potassium boost needed at any of the dressings. Notice I keep harping on kelp meal....lol....its organic gold.

I always urge experimenting when u grow. Try different stuff, what's the worst that can happen? She will throw a hissy fit and flip you the middle finger.....lesson learned!

Fish fert....hmmm...when to use and how do I describe watching the energy of the soil. The plants, when u are in tune with how they grow in your garden, will have a rythem to them for lack of better description. When one or more fall out of rythem, they are telling me there is a dip to the soil energy. It becomes much easier as you attain strains you keep and become intimately familiar with for sure, and it becomes easy to pick up when things are out of rythem. I also like to use fish fert anytime there is high stress. It can be at up potting or after I snap a big branch accidentally. Fish fert has about anything a plant needs for a boost and it's immediately available to the plant. Not to mention it feeds the herd too!

When something is off in an organic grow, it is likely something off in the relationship with the roots and the herd. Get them back on the same sheet of music and things will just start clicking. Healthy herd, healthy plant.

But here is the hard part.....Stank, you say adding stuff can help, why not do it more? I know it's gonna happen, cause it happened with me. I kept putting more in with some experiments. There is a tipping point and I find less is more most of the time. You can throw the herd out of wack if you go crazy.

Our work is done in the labor it takes to mix soil....put in your time, cook it good, and sit back and watch the show. In all honesty, you could likely grow start to finish without adding anything and be perfectly fine. I have just been fine tuning what works in my set-up.

Also one more disclaimer....i use top end LEDs, no cheap Chinese blurple here. Quality lighting is on the top of my list. I started on the cheaper side when I started growing but quickly realized it's hard to replicate that burning ball of gas in the sky and if you really want top quality buds, you get what you pay for. I'm not knocking anyone that makes or uses the cheaper LEDs and I understand people who have budget restrictions that keep them from higher end lights. Good lights, good soil, great meds!!

Great info there VS:bravo: I'd been put off going the fully organic route due to using small pots. I could probably use a 2 or 3 gallon with a single plant in my little flower tent. Plan to try a hempy grow next but that will give me time to figure out and make a good quality soil to try at the end of the year. Got to be worth a try.

Good morning Stanks. Hope all is well. Thx so much for the response. You always detail out exactly what someone asking is, of which I really appreciate. As to cooking, I plan on cooking for 60 days, just to make sure everything is broke down. And I totally agree as to lights. When i orginally started indoors, i went the cheap route, blurple. It did ok for what it is worth. When i upgraded to "real leds" I noticed a huge difference in denseness and penetration. I now have two goliath v2's 40 x 40 inch, covering my 5 x 10 tent. I am so ready to put nutes behind me and getting the best tasting medicine available. Now I am rambling. Lol. Hope u guys have an awesome day
