A little detail

Seedling problems: When it finally sprouted seed shell was still attached. Used a water drop to soften it. Didn't detach after 1 week so i had to manually remove it with tweezers in two separate operations.

When I finally removed it first to leaves where encapsulated inside, and cotyledons where damaged. One was almost non existent. This happened on May 28th.

Lola struggled for almost a week:

In June 3rd new growth appear and she started to pick up a pace. She's not going to get too big after all the problems but at least she's a fighter.

Yesterday (June 5th) I noticed it was getting bigger and better but some curling on the edges of the leaves alerted me of a possible heat problem (25º Celsius but probably lights were too close). I raised the lights and now they are further from the plant.

Here's the heat problem I just told you about:

I'll keep posting daily updates and see how it goes from here.

Any advice is welcome. Remember I'm a non native English speaker and a rookie grower so bare with my lack of experience. I'm just happy I saved Lola and get to see her grow. I'm actually proud about it.

Hey welcome to :420:

So long as the plant is not an auto it will still grow large if you give it enough time, that's the great thing about photoperiod plants. All the best with your grow and good luck, I'm subbed :thumb:

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow (Her name is Lola

She is recovering from a little heat. She almost doubled in size since June 5th (24 hours)

I'm afraid it's an auto

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

Apparently the heat problem is solved. New growth appears normal and Lola keeps growing in size.
This is day 15 since sprout, approximately day 6 of veg state.

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

Growth has really improved in the last couple of days. I calculate this is approximately day 8 of veg stage. Here you can see Lola gaining some width. I gave her 200 ml of water 6 - 6.5 ph just in the center area.

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

I added 1,2 liters of water to the rest of the pouch. Remember it's a 5 gallon. I want the outer part of soil to keep moist in case roots decide to grow out of the central part.

As you can see, now Lola is about 3,5 cm tall and creating new growth at a very satisfying pace now. Cotyledons are completely dry and about to die and fall. No longer needed, I guess.

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

Veg day 13:
It seems the new watering regime has improved conditions. RH levels are stable between 42-48% and temperature is 23-28º.
As you can see in these pictures this is their 4th day after giving her 1,5L of water and the leaves indicate thirst, since they started dropping a little. Right after taking these I gave them another 1,5L (4 days after the last watering) so today I should see some improvement.

However things look good and Lola is creating her 3rd node at the moment.

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

Well. Bad news. Solvable, but bad news. Apparently Lola suffers from Magnesium deficiency. I went to a grow shop and the guy argued it wasn't mag but nitrogen deficiency. I mad the rookie mistake of trusting him since I'm a newbie. He gave me nitrogen-potasium-phosphorus nutes. You can see the lighter parts around the leaves' veins.

This afternoon I'll go and by magnesium to try and solve the problem

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

She's growing at a very good pace. More than 1,5 cms in 24 hours was my last measurement. Working on the magnesium problem still. I'll keep you posted

DAY 27 since Sprouting

Incredible growth these past 3 days. She's gone from 9 cms. to 18!!! She doubled her size and the only reason I can find is the NPK nutes I gave her friday.

2016-06-18_13_19_07.jpg

Sunday I gave her her first dose of Cal-mag to treat her deficiency. I expect new growth to be mag-deficiency free.

DAY 27 since sprouting

Here's a detail picture of the new growth coming out of the nodes and the strength of the centra stem (Sorry about the rotation, it was Ok on my phone but it rotated when I uploaded it and don't know how to solve it here)

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

Thanks a lot. I'll check those links out.

I'll upload some more pictures today. She's growing fast and smells already although she hasn't started flowering and hasn't shown sex yet.

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

As I promised these are 2 days ago. She was on day 28 from sprouting.

Amazing growth after her first dose of cal-mag to treat her deficiency. It may also be the reason for that splash burn. No more have appeared as of today.

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

day 42 since sprouting. In the last couple weeks the magnesium deficiency has been taken care of with nutrients. She has also grown a lot and started preflowering. You can see the evolution in the pics below. She's well into her 60 cms (62 as of this morning)

I added two extra 25W CFLs to help flowering and get a (slightly) bigger yield. So at the moment there are 170W and 10.000 lumens to feed off for Lola.

Let me know what you think. Btw, the rotating crazy thing keeps happening when I upload the pictures. Sorry

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

Well. 50 days now and she started showing the goods. I moved all the lights upside to boost the cola, where all the buds or at least most of them are forming.

She is 74 cms tall now. I started her on flowering nutes: BioBloom and TopMax by Biobizz. 2 nutes watering 1 plane watering a week. I gave her 1/3 of recommended dose first watering, 1/2 recommended dose the second time.

Leaves are starting to glow with resine now so I'm really excited. It seems that after all the problems I'm going to get something out of her besides all the knowledge for future growing.

Let's see the pics:

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

What do you think? Three more weeks at least? End of July - early August for harvesting?

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

Hey Juanelepe, the plants are looking good and seem to have a fair way to go yet. It's good to see the sugar there on those leaves and in the final two weeks you will notice the white hairs (pistils) will start turning orange and receding back to the bud, and those buds will fatten up in the last two weeks :)

Congratulations on your great work so far, it shouldn't be too long until your looking at some beautiful medicine grown by yourself :thumb:

Re: Juanelepe - Blue Mystic Auto - Soil - CFL - Indoor - First Grow - Her Name Is Lol

Hey there,

I am on my first CFL grow as well. I'm still at the seedling stage - super happy to see how nice a CFL grow can work out. Your flowers are coming in nicely!

You are doing great. I'm eager to follow along and see what Lola produces!

Cheers
