1st Grow With DWC

chcked on grow nothing much to report really topped up buckets checked ph was 5.3 or something hope this is ok 1 plant seems to have come on alot more than the others

quick question for someone if my water out the tap is ph 7 can i calibrate my ph pen this way?

you use calibration solution only. At least once per month.

bassman 59 i didnt say i didnt need help i was just asking why i couldnt sorry if i pissed you off lol peace brother

im using ionic 1 part for grow 1 for when i flower called bloom im planning on 6 weeks in veg 6 in flower hopefully

Hey nice setup. I'm doing my 1st dwc too. Fun stuff. I had a little burning as well early due to early feeding but mine are really starting to grow

hi bobulak thanks for stopping by its a bit nerve racking at first but think im doing ok now really i should of tried soil for my first grow hear its forgiving but i do try my best checking ph daily and i started off abit mad on the nutes but they seem to be coming along ok now apart from one plant which will hopefully catch up with the rest

hey man im sorry i havent been on in a few days hows things going? ill pick up where i left off. i noticed there was a quick rebuttle for my info on 24/7 lighting. i know plenty of people who run 24/7.but i also know poeple who ran 24/7 and got hermies (i have also). its not the most common thing to have happen but studies do show YOUR PLANTS ARE MORE SUCCEPTABLE TO HERMIE IF UNDER 24/7. ive read that in ALOT of places. i wouldnt want you being misinformed my brotha. long extensive hours spent researching my decisions on 24/7 to 18/6.
now one more time id like to clearify this..... you can still do 24/7 all through veg, you may not ever get hermis BUT by putting the plant in 18/6 you will lower your chances of having it happen. in no way am i stating your doing this wrong or your is anyone else doing it wrong. i just want to share the knowledge i've stumbled into earlier on that helped me decide my approach

your plants look like their getting better! DONT calibrate your pen with you tap water lol. my water fluctuates from 6.7-7.2 those are drastic when calibrating. your water will chage its PH from time to time. it sounds like a good idea but avoid trusting what your tap says.

other than that i see recovery going on so keep pics posted i hope these things make a full recovery

thanks m8 for dropping by with that info when i checked the ladies this morning i was suprised how much the stunted 1 had come on hopefully the third does too im going to 24/7 this grow then the next 1 im going 18/6 ive also learnt a valuable lesson with the nutes staying low is cool going high is burny lol ext time id stat at cf of 8 and no more than a cf of 10 i might even try the dutch pro nutes next time there a 2 part but i hear good things about them ive been and bought some ph7 calibration fluid i was calibrating every other day now i know once a month is about right talk about keen lmao the 1 plant does look alot healthier than others i just prey the smallest of the 3 makes a come back like its sister thanks again for dropping in i sent you a friend request too:)

i know someone that grows and they keep there cf at a constant 10 throught there grow and seem to do ok and they use 18/6 lighting my friend said do 24/7 trouble is you cant always do what other people do ive found the best way to learn is by your own mistakes yes take onboard what people say but the true learning is in your mistakes

Please show me " A LOT of Places" and Studies. I have tried a few google searches and cannot find any such info.

This is a direct quote from Ed Rosenthal whom most of you know is a marijuana growing guru:

...marijuana plants photosynthesize as long as they receive light as well as water, air, nutrients and suitable temperature. Photosynthesis is the process in which plants use the energy from light (primarily in the blue and red spectrum's) to combine carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air and water (H2O) to make sugar while releasing oxygen to the air.

Plants use sugars continuously to fuel metabolic processes (living) as well as for tissue building. The plant combines nitrogen (N) with the sugar to make amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. They are the substance of plant tissue. When the light is off, the plant's metabolic processes, respiration and growth, continue.

The plant can photosynthesize continuously so it produces the most energy and growth when the light is on, continuously. Continuous light does not stress the plant, which reacts somewhat mechanistically to it.

Plants under an 18-6 light-dark regimen are producing sugar only three quarters of the time. They are thus growing at only 75% of their potential. Leaving the light on continuously will result in bigger plants, faster, which leads to higher yields."

"The following information is straight from Greg Green's "The Cannabis Grow Bible"

Cannabis is a light demanding plant. Professional growers keep the light on their plants using the 24/0 photoperiod for this reason. Plants that grow under 24/0 flourish and do not need a quantity of darkness in order to rest and perform photosynthesis properly. Plants that are grown in optimal conditions under 24/0 light regime grow vigorusly and the benefits of a 24/0 photoperiod can be seen actively in the results. More nodes are formed, more branches are created, leaf numbers increase, the plant is growing at its finest.

Some growers opt to use 18/6 as their photoperiod. This is 18 hours of light, six hours of darkness light regime. Under these conditions the plant will grow quite naturally but not as vigorously as the 24/0 photoperiod.

The 18/6 photoperiod expels 3/4 the amount of light that a 24/0 photoperiod does. Although this does not mean that a plant produces 1/4 less leaves, branches and nodes under the 18/6 photoperiod, it certainly does show the correlation between light and cannabis growth. As we have said already, cannabis is a light demanding plant. There are no problems associated with 24/0 and although some have attributed cannabis sexual dysfunction (the hermaphrodite conditon) to 18/6 photoperiod these problems are actually the result of heat stress.
A 24/0 photoperiod requires that your grow room temperature be kept well monitored. The 18/6 option is cheaper to run. You use a quarter less electricity and this will have an impact on your electricity bill. Also the 18/6 photoperiod will generally extend the bulb's lifespan. During the 6 hours of darkness the grow room is allowed to cool down for this period but a well maintained good grow room setup should not require a cooling down period.

24/0 and 18/6 both share the same problem though. Once you start the photoperiod you should keep that way especially when the plants near maturity (the preflowering stage). An irregular photoperiod can cause more males than females to develop. It can also cause sexual dysfunction to appear. Whether you choose 24/0 or 18/6 as your vegetative photoperiod try to keep that photoperiod unitl your plants are mature enough to express their sex."
24/0 is superior insofar as plant growth

In nature you find that the sun is not on all the time, but in places like Alaska where it isn't too cold for vegetation but the sun shines for 6months out the year and their vegetables are enormous! I choose not to run my light 24 hours a day but the 18 six, mainly because of heat and the fact that my grow is in my closet in the room I sleep so when the light goes out I go to sleep for 6 hours. I do attend a university where I have access to advice from PHD holding botanist who is a master gardener, look it up it is a real title, and will ask him about the 24 hours of light.
