Did they change the rules on this ? First time I've seen it done this way.

Ohh that’s different...

so it’s going to be a nominating/voting system like the plant, nug, and member of the month? :hmmmm:

that’s different...

I could have seen you guys doing this in January, but the last month of the year...

either way, it’s different, it’s exciting, and good luck to everyone!

Yes, it's different. Teddy verified it to me in PM. Aught to be interesting indeed. But still needs a few extra details.
It doesn't state whether it has to be a "Current Journal In Progress" or if a past journal you've done qualifies too.
Just something that crossed my mind.

The process was just too cumbersome for us to handle every month, so we decided to turn the power over to the people. Thank you for catching that, we'll get that edited in.

Journals in Progress only, that have been updated by the original poster within the last 30 days.

:thanks:

Personally, I love seeing the GJOTM done by member voting, that way everyone is more apt to actually visit/read the journals, therefore getting more education in the process by seeing all the different methods of growing being done.

Also, it's so much more member oriented and interactive for us to actually have the opportunity to weigh in and vote for the best one, not to mention how much fun it'll be..If we all don't go blind from all the reading first...?

I wonder why they doubled the time limit before you can win a 2nd time. It use to be 6 months. Now it's a year.
I don't like this rule being changed without a 30 day notice. Time limits didn't change on other contests. Still 3 mo. & 6 mo. So why change this one ?
It's not really fair to those who just waited 6 mo. in hopes of trying for a 2nd shot at the title. It would be fair if a 30 day notice to the Rule Change was posted prior to the change so everyone was aware of it prior to putting the effort in to go for this title.
Very disappointed in the way this was done during the last month of the year without notice.

What about those still trying for a 1st on Nug or Plant of the month ? Yet they can win every 3 months & 6 months.
Why don't they have to wait a year ? Why just this contest's time limit change for a 2nd win & not all of them ? Lot's of why's. Why not keep it simple & make all the contests where you can only win once a year ? Then those with all the great photography skills wouldn't win the other contests over & over. Then again, why a time limit at all ? If you've got a winner, you've got a winner.

What about those still trying for a first?
It isn't the fact that they changed the time limit itself amongst the other rules for the contest. It's that it should have been given a prior notice so we all knew what to expect. I'm sure some of us included content in their current journals to try to win this that we would have held back on till we were eligible again if we'd of been given notice.
Damned, now this has got me 2nd guessing whether Trump really did win ???

Why do we complain so much about contests?

Seriously the last few contests have really turned people into whiners. There could be no contests like the majority of the forums out there are like. Be grateful there is a contest regardless of the rules and when the people putting on the contest, the ones giving out the free goodies, decide to change the rules for the benefit of the 99% and not the 1%, don't complain. So what if 420 decides to only change the rules for only one their contests, it is their contests to do as they please. So what if Mars is a day or two late announcing the winner of a contest, just be happy you have sponsors willing to giveaway their products/profits and wait a day or two to find out who the winner is. Can we seriously please stop whinging over the free stuff, it's the holiday season aren't we supposed to be grateful for what we have?

I can't believe I have to go over this, especially to someone who is upset over not being able to win twice in a single year. Imagine some of the members who have been here for years, trying their best to just grow quality medicine, never winning a contest, being nominated, or recognized for their accomplishments.

If you are purposely going out of your way to create a journal to win a contest good for you but don't get all butt hurt when the rules unexpectedly change, or that 420 didn't consult you about it first.
