Grandpa's White Widow - 1st grow EVER

Thanxxx 18NightSkunk...I think that's one of the site I was checking out last night, there were so many. But I am gonna check it out to see. :rollit:

Grandpa I guess that's me. I see something and build it. So your a musician I've played Guitar for 30 years now. I was very good til I messed up my hand and can only play 3 finger rhythms now used to be 5.:smokin:
Vermiculite is a heated and expanded mica and retains water.
Perlite is a rock that has a very porous structure that aids in drainage.:smokin:

Keep up the good work.:grinjoint:

Pan4

Yea Pan...I started with piano lessons as a child, then I tried guitar (couldn't get it), and at age 12 I got my first drum kit and the rest is history. I guess growing up when KISS...Led Zep...Alice Cooper (etc) were hot was a big help. I was a founding member of and played with the metal band Point Of Terror (P.O.T.) for 13 years...most recently I worked with porn star Monica Mayhem and her band on some projects.

Sorry to hear about your hand dude...but 3 finger rhythms could easily get you into a decent working bar band. :rocker:

Thanxxx for the advice on the perlite dude...that's what I'm gonna use.

Grandpa...

Here is what is involved in making a DWC/Deep Water Culture system...

1-buy an 18 gallon tote at wally world...about 15 bucks
2-cut holes for net cups in lid
3-drill hole above high waterline for air tube to run through
4-insert air tube and airstone into res...cost of tubing/airstone/airpump less than 30 bucks also available at wally world in the pet dept.
5-Done

You just built a DWC/Deep Water Culture system for less than 50 bucks. you still need netcups, hydroton (or equivelant cup stuffer) and rockwool, but these are quite inexpensive and readily available at any hydro shop or online.

Now you can spend all that saved coin on better lighting...building/buying a cabinet, or beans. You don't need alot of know-how to do this...drill one hole and cut the appropriate amount of openings in the lid. Piece of cake!

You put it like that...it seems so simple dude. I might get really baked and give it a shot...it's worth some thought. Better than spending $500.00 + that's for damn sure. :bong:

THANXXX FOR EVERYTHING YALL :thanks:

LMAO ! My 2 year old son is already determined to be a better drummer than me...now my youngest daughter has to show the old man up with her construction expertise...or exposing my lack thereof. Oh well...we all get old.

I am transplanting to outdoors this weekend. I will post pix then...

Yall stay baked...:rollit:

My parents got me my first gun when I was seven or eight years old (we hunt around here). But I think I must have been about 12 before Pop trusted me with an electric drill. And then it was a couple months before he tried THAT again, lol. "Boy, I bet you could break an anvil with a rubber mallet!"

Yeah, but just think of the alternative! I'll take getting old over pushing up daisies any day!

Yea...I ain't ready for the dirt nap just yet. Lots more living to do...loads more green bud to consume :bong:, a hell of a lot of rockin' left in me :rocker:...and tons of pretty girls I still need to introduce myself to:smokin: !

Oh and by the way...since my home kit is WAY too big for my little dude, he already has his first kit. And he is banging away ! Being a dad is so f*cking cool !

nice grandpa,

LOL the Family Guy bag o weed was so funny.

Will they be have'n at least five - six hrs of sun per day at those spots, by that I mean will get'n at least 5-6 sun when harvest?

Good look'n areas.

I am not really sure. I saw that other greenery was there, so I figured they were getting light. But I will check it out more this weekend. Thanxxx for looking out...:thanks:

And Stewie is right...it's all better with a bag of weed ! :rollit:

I took the only ones outside earlier tonight, and planted them. Although with the way they look...I felt like I was digging a few graves. I don't give them a shot in hell...but I am a man of my word and I said I would give them a fighting chance in the sunshine.

Who knows ? Stranger things have happened...we'll have to wait and see.

Did you prep the soil with some good amendments and dig a good-sized hole so that the roots would have an easy time of it?

Speaking of the roots, did you mix in a good amount of perlite?

If so, you might end up with some nice healthy plants and decent bud.

Wishing your girls much luck and an easy summer!

Did all of the above brother...now it's all in the hands of the 420 gods.:yummy:

Grandpa,
I really try to save all my plants if possible... It's in the nature of what I do... And who I am.. I truly believe that your first grow, however it turns out is an eye opener for new skills and knowledge.

I saw on TV a show bout MJ stating "tis aint your poppas marijuana " But it still grows and it may have tons of new strains and new everything but it is still a plant. Brushing up on any plant knowledge from any gardening books, even the internet... read how they grow ,what they need how they utilize thier nutrients, light needs for different seasons, the growth life of a plant like MJ (naturally) how they react to stress Like LST or topping or scrogging or just environmental stress. your experience with all the experts here will help you along.. But knowing about plants, roots, leaves, and how they get their growth energy is very similar amongst most plants... Keep on readin, and keep on growing..

When All is not well in my grow room I go and get a small cheap pack of flower seeds at the dollar store of marigolds or other easy and they grow up fast and make me feel more confident in my growing skills (plus you get flowers too!) DOing that is where I realized that jamaican guano makes marigolds expand and have hundreds of flowers...

I'm old too can hardly see and a little decrepit... But this hobby has made me feel young again... (except whenI have to haul thos 5gal jugs to the grow room loL)
lUCKY i HAVE MEDS AND YOU WILL TOO..
bRO KEEP THE FAITH WE ARE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU...
SOrry bout the caps..

Marigolds are very useful in a grow room. Their natural pyrethrum is helpful against insect pests (someone also told me yesterday that rabbits can't stand them either). And they also control certain nematodes, so if you grow in soil, consider planting a couple in each container.

Thinking varieties advertised as being Mexican and some French are supposed to be among the best. Not positive, there seems to be a gaping hole in my mind where that particular memory used to reside.

I think youll be surprised with how they do, if they make it through it initial transplant phase. keep in mind though you should still ph balance any water you feed them, and when they are big, and they will get big, make sure they have enough foods/nutes. :nicethread:

very nice

Thanxxx 18tnightskunk for stopping by. :bong:

I think it could grow. Lets just watch

and.. :roorrip:

Maybe DankMe...we'll see. And if it does, :bongrip:

Good luck grandpa.:smokin:

May the god's take care of your plants.;)

Pan4

It's in thier hands Pan4...:rollit:

Thanxxx fineas, I have always been a student in one form or another. Even when I was out on the road, I always kept a copy of Lao Tzu or the like on the night stand...next to the condoms and rolling papers. I am gonna look into your suggestions. There is never enough knowledge. :thanks:

Useful against pests huh...thanxxx TorturedSoul could always use that :bong:

A fellow member suggested chives as a complement to Marigolds. If nothing else they will be good in my food.:yummy:
