The buds in this picture are from two different plants. Its so crowed in 4'x1' that the lanky bagseed Sativa stretches her buds from one end of the cab to the other.

The Lanky Bagseed Sativa.. Not the biggest bud on the plant, but the Trichomes really showed up clear.

The frost on this little bud almost gives me wood when I look at it. Dayum!

Thats all I have to update today.. Lots of pics I hope I am not boring anyone with so many. I though each one tells a story... to me anyway.

I almost forgot. I pulled a bud off each plant today to sample. I should be stoned in a couple days. Its been a long wait.

I also am updating my BLUE PLANET ORGANIC GROW. If you your inclined to, click the link in my sig to see how that is progressing.

everything is looking amazing 70sG! I am hoping to get some lovely looking ladies like that in the next more or so. Mine are still swelling and I hope they don't stop! I want them to get as fat as possible.

How much longer do you think you have till harvest?

+reps and 5* worthy for sure!

Thanks for the compliments!

I have to share this.. As I have mentioned before, I hadn't smoked a bud in almost 2 years. Last weekend I picked one small lower bud off each plant and did the quick dry/cure with all 4 buds on the cableTV box.

Thursday, I shared a 1/2 bowl of plant #6 with my brother on the way back from the Hydro store. Holy crap were we medicined up! I feel extremely pleased that I have a whole plant of this stuff. 5 hits each and we were toast. I rate it a 9.5. I can only remember better smoke once and that was in 1983 in Hawiaii on Maui Waui. Once this is cured correctly is going to be awesome medicine.

On Wednesday I tried some from plant 1, my hermie full of seeds. It was very disappointing smoke in comparison. I should have removed it from the garden a long time ago to give the other 3 plants more room. I learned my lesson on that one.

I pulled the Hermy today, trimmed and hung it. I am now down to 3 plants. Trichomes are clear to partly cloudy on the remaining 3 with plant #3 the with highest percentage of cloudy at roughly 40%. Plant 6 is next at 20% cloudy. Plant 7 is all clear. I will probably harvest plant 3 next weekend.

Hi Mr Smith, thanks for subbing. I expect to harvest one plant this week. Trichomes were 40% cloudy so its almost time. The remaining plant will probably be cut down next week.

I cut down my hermie yesterday as Trichomes were cloudy with a few turning brown.

Well excuse me while I say, WE NEED some hanging bud porn! At least I do! I seriously can't wait to harvest mine. Since I have never had a harvest before or anything I am both nervous and excited. Each day that passes brings me closer to it.

Like I said, I can't wait for your harvest! :thumb:

11/8 Day 58 of 12/12 Are we there yet? Are we ever going to get there?

I was taking some pictures today for an update. I used Twelve12s white balance tutorial found here to get some pictures in the 2700K CFL cabinet. Its a huge improved in actual color.

I don't have time for a full update, but will later. The question for today is about harvesting... more specifically manicuring. I am old school.. in the 70s we smoked the wholed fricking bud, we didn't trim any leaves off. I find now in the 2010's everyone cuts the leaves off.

I am not trying to be cynical and really want an education. Here is a picture of a small bud that turned out in perfect focus.

Here is a zoom of a leaf from that picture. Now why would one want to trim this leaf? Just look at it! Its full of Trichomes and soon will be awesome smoke.

Someone help me out here... I know theres a good reason for trimming this... I just don't know what it is? I can tell you that based on my current knowledge I will be trimming no leaves off my buds if they at least 1 Trichome. Someone please educate this old fart.

Thanks in advance and reps to anyone who gives an opinion either way.

Hey 1970's, looking great, can't wait to see the harvest.
Next to the buds (usually around 5 - 20% THC) the trim leaves have about 3-6% THC, trim leaves are best for hash making/ edibles (of course other than the bud) as the next best would be fan leaves that only have about 1-3% THC. If you are only planning smoke then I could see why you would leave them, however if you want to make hash or edibles I would say trim it.

Day 58 of flowering... Update with some pics of my bagseed bitches.

Things seem to be slowing up considerably. I watered only today... The girls have have been living on water alone for the last 8 days in anticipation of harvest.

I harvested the Hermy on Sunday morning. It's a pitiful looking plant. Once it jizzed on itself flower production pretty much ceased as all energy went into making seeds. Next time the at first sign of a hermy, I am removing it from the garden.
When I took this pic it had been drying for 2 days. Nothing to brag about, but I want show the bad with the good. I am going to cut and jar it at 72 hours.

The remaining 3 plants in the garden have slowed growth. I still am not seeing any yellowing of leaves. THe only leaf damage is old damage from a few weeks ago. Also trich production is increasing but bud growth has slowed. The buds are getting wider but not taller. I hope thats good. Trichomes are still pretty clear for the most part. I keep wondering if these will ever be finished.

Heres some random pictures.

This bagseed Sativa dominant has a very lemon like smell to it.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe in the last bit of flowering buds will spend most energy plumping instead of lengthening.
Do you know at all what kind of sativa dominant that is? I was always under the assumption that indicas stayed real conical like that and sativas branch out a lot.
Out of curiosity, what did you do with the hermy to keep it from knocking up all your girls? I am keeping a male for pollen and figuring out exactly what I want to do with him.
Everything is looking great and thanks for the Reps.

I just think its a Sativa dominant by the lankiness and narrow shape of the leaves. Its bagseed so I can't be absolutely sure.

I kept the hermy next to the exhaust fan and on one end of the cabinet. There are very few seeds on the plant next to it and I have found none on the other 2. I picked the balls off as I found them too (extremely time consuming), but I could not get them all. It seems that most polination in the garden was only to pistils directly below the male flower.

i remember back in the day..we smoked everything, leaves, stems, sometimes seeds...seeds were always a blast when they went off...then again nickel's were nickel's and dimes were dimes...
i would still trim them back at harvest,so it can get dry inside better, keep the cuttings for smoke,i guess most make hash, bubble hash?i'm impaitient...or what i do is throw them in cheese cloth and melted butter, make whatever? popcorn,cookies..enjoying the posts,cheers..

Congrats on the harvest. Once the bud dried break them up good before smoking just to clear out any seeds it may have.

Are you trying to be funny:) Or did you forget I'm and old bastard. I can't resist :) I was smoking pot before there was such a thing as Sinsemellia.... I very much remember how to clean a bud with seeds. I can break up a seeded bud, roll it with a single short paper zigzag, all one handed. Done it many times... not a skill I like to brag about, but I did it none the less.

I was buying oz's of Mexican in 1972 for $10. Buds full of seeds. Sinsemilla didn't come to the midwest until arround 1978/79.

As DannyHoo said when they popped it got real fun. I burned holes in many a shirt and car seat that way.... missing a seed wearing loose 70s style basketball shorts got real interesting. Burned my balls more than once..

Haha!! That sounds like one helluva night! Exploding seeds and burn scars.

70's, I just read your whole grow, and I'll be heading over to see your new one shortly. +Reps on doing a great job on your first run in so many years! I use FF soil, FF nutes and CFLs as well, although it sounds like you'll be upgrading soon if you haven't already.
One thing I need to mention, though, is that your issues you had a few weeks ago, in my opinion, were 100% nute burn. What happens with flushing agents sometimes is that when they break up and loosen the built up salts and nutrients, it actually causes the plant to over absorb a bunch of those newly freed up nutes, too quickly, before they have a chance to run out with the water. I'm not sure if anyone has brought this to your attention yet, so I just thought I'd throw that out there. I have burned my plants a couple times, and that is EXACTLY what happens to them, 100% The curling up or "cupping" of the leaves, the "rust", the crispyness and all, it's classic nute burn if you ask me. Looks as though you recovered nicely though so congratulations! I'll be over to sub to your new grow shortly!

Thanks for stopping by Quixilver. What you say about flush and nute burn makes alot of sense. It sure baffled me. So probably another gallon of straight water through each plant and I would have been good? I will keep that in mind.
