Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2016

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

So I started training these plants, but after reading about fluxing on LightAddict thread, I felt reluctant to top them and split them, since they are right now about 10-15cm above ground. But I am planning to modifiy it a bit. Firstly I am going to bring the main stem closer to ground and then from then on split the two top branches to go separate ways, perhaps circling the pot around its perimeter. And then top top top it so each plant only grows two main branches. I think it can be done. We will see whats gonna happen. Maybe I will chicken out and let them be with only so little training. Cant post pics right now since somehow the upload pic function is gone from the app.

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

Here are pics from few days ago. Changes have been made by now and I will post latest pics, but I'd need to take them first haha. Basically, 3 seeds popped, so that would make it 3 out of 7. Here is hoping for max just one male. I would like to try making my own seeds, but obviously having all females would still be more preferable haha. We shall see what I'm getting later.

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

So here are the most up-to-date pics of my ladies.
The 2 seeds have popped out and are growing well, the 3rd one is still trying to stand up. I helped by making some opening so she didnt have to try so hard to break ground. Hopefully by tomorrow she will already be standing up like the other 2. As for the ladies, just regular vegging time. I have plan to defoliate later when they stretch more and have grown more leaves. Enjoy them pics.

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

Reporting in today August 1st, looking nice, but now I am thinking what if the young seedlings could not catch up with the rest. I now have concluded that starting in smaller pots is best looking at their growth, but I still fear that if I am going to flip in 4 weeks, what to do with these seedlings, because I have no vegging site. Well, maybe I should have thought about this before haha. O well, lets hope they grow faster than their friends in the big pots.
Here are their pics.

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

Wow. I got a case of unwanted germination here. Well, I did want it to happen, but then as I thought it had failed, I got a seedling sprouted right next to mystery seed #2. So the Nirvana freebies germination rate rose to 4 out of 7.

So then I thought for a sec whether to let it grow together or do operation separation right here right now. And then I did. Got a spare 5L pot filled with good soil laying around. I picked out the wild plants growing somewhat big and then I started digging the myse#2. I was about to dig out the myse#2 and let this newly sprouted myse#4 stay in there, but as I was digging around it, I found out that it was harder to transplant the more mature myse#2. So I picked my mini shovel and tried to raise the soil from way below to keep the root intact. I made it and I managed to extract the myse#4 seedling. It looked like seed which just grew its taproot, but with initial leaves already growing. So it was a success I would say, but we will see in the next few days if it's making it or not. The myse#2 was doing okay i guess. I hope she didnt mind a little shock from below.

So here they are now in pictures. I also made more ground tucking to the rest of the teen ladies. Whichever branch with new growth on it with considerable stem length got tucked to the ground. I also added more soil to the myse#1 and #2. It is ironic that the ones growing well are in the small pots while the problematic ones in term of rough or late growth find themselves in much bigger pots. O well.

420-magazine-mobile973576878.jpg

Myse#2 post 'surgery'. Added extra soil to cover its stretched stem.
420-magazine-mobile664412637.jpg

Also added more soil to fill out the small pot and cover the stretched stem of myse#1
420-magazine-mobile11885037.jpg

Myse#3 was laying down flat on the ground. It seemed that the soil was too sandlike, maybe because of it drying out so quickly. So then I compacted the soil around its stem and saturated the whole soil. I hope that was the right thing to do. Also added extra support.
420-magazine-mobile1817261208.jpg

There it is. Our unplanned germination. The taproot was healthy though. It was just a single 4-5cm long taproot. I didnt want it, but it is already there, so I hope she will make it out alive.
420-magazine-mobile676189572.jpg

Covered it with a fence, since mice love them seedlings.

AK48 obviously. She and Haze x Kali China got the most tucking actions out of all 5.
420-magazine-mobile1145876465.jpg

Here she is. Our Haze x Kali China. Look at them leaves. Sativa is dominant here. The rest are all indica dominant so she will be the special one coming harvest time.
420-magazine-mobile248766233.jpg

Last but not least, Misty Kush. She was struggling really hard. Almost died, I think. But she made it. And she should be doing fine in maybe 2 weeks time?

That is all folks. See you later ;) and oh I chopped the auto completely. Pathetic yield, but the smoke was awesome. Pretty sure it was a Bubblicious or Lemon OG. But I was and am still unsure about it.

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

Shit. Just as I thought the rats already left me be...it struck me back. Myse#2 the poor baby got cut leaving only its initial leaves and the stem below the soil. I did not put any cage on them and now I paid the price. Even though the young seedlings are just small part of my current grow, it still stings when something like this happens. Myse#1 only got chewed lil bit on its leaf. It is now caged. So are myse#3 and myse#4 the unexpected one. I know see what the rats are after if they do want something of my ladies. They do not go for plants which already developed thicker stem. They are after the soft ones. O well.

I saw back then in someones thread a case of young seedling growing back after it got beheaded by a feline. Do you think myse#2 will be able to grow back again?
Another question from another topic is if it is bad to flux with a flexible aluminium wires around half cm by making a curve to trap the stems inside and push it down by jamming both ends of the wire into thr soil? I read somewhere that its better to tie them down to the edge of your pot rather than trapped them with this kind of wire jammed into the soil?

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

is it down to cotyledons?

about the lsting i use wire and poke through the growbags to tie off.

if the limbs of your plant outgrow the circumference of your container then you got to tie off .
what your doing is working for you when or if you need to change/adapt you will know

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

Hey photos, it is the whole leaves including cotyledon leaves. Only the stem below cotyledon is still intact and that is because I added more soil to bury the whole main stem. She is a goner, isnt she?
About the wiring, my only concern is if the aluminium wires would poke the soil and hit the roots? And maybe if it gets bushier it would be harder to manage the wires since i'd have to go through all the leaves.
O yeah for sure if it outgrows my container, it wouldnt be possible to use these aluminium wires normally used for bonsai. I see that you use such wires too right? Or did I see it wrong?!

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

Just watered my babies with grow more 30-10-10 mixed with seaweed extract and foliar nutes. 3L solution spread for all 5. And for the soil: humic acid, molasses and fish emulsion. Also 3L solution. Extra activator nutrients mixed with water, a 3L solution. And in the end plain water 1.5L.

The seedlings are doing well since caged. I have nowhere for them to go, so when it goes 12/12 its gonna be interesting what theyre going to do. I'm planning to flip end of this month. I think 3 more weeks we are gonna see some nice growth out of all 5.

Re: Mondstern's First Official Attempt - Outdoor/Indoor Hybrid Environment - Newbie 2

Hi Snid! Yeah it is coming nicely. I am pretty satisfied. Here are updates from them. The mystery seeds are growing slowly, only one is on a fast track. So sad not being able to identify it. Here are them pics. At this rate I am on-track to flip them end of this month. The mystery seeds wont be treated differently, I will just let them flip if they desire to do so.

Pics:
420-magazine-mobile352259437.jpg

Just a lil bit of adjustment. I have decided to let them go bushy now, no fimming or topping and then will defoliate right before flipping.

All the MySes are still caged. I will take the cages off once they are older. Maybe next week or the next two weeks. It rally doesnt matter. Rats can go fuck themselves really.

Update this week after watering. Looking good I must say. Very happy with this development.

As you have already read in previous posts, not gonna bother much with these unidentified regular seeds. Just checking out Nirvana freebies germ rate. 4 out of 7 is good enough hehe.

Hi Snid. Thanks again, my usual tuner haha.
Hi AngryBird, it is thin steel wires covered in green pvc. And thank god they dont chew it off. Omg, i would be so stressed if they were that crazy haha.
