Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains Grow Journal

Re: Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains grow journal

Hey Mr. Rocket,
Welcome, it's good to have you aboard. I just read up on your journal, impressive and reps to you for it. The link in your signature didn't work quite right for me when I clicked on it. It just took me to the gallery. So hope you don't mind a little bit of promotion, Rockets journal can be found Here

There, now you'll have my legions of dedicated journal followers hounding you night and day and asking stupid questions.:) Seriously anyone interested in this type of growing should check out his journal. This guy can build a freakin grow op. I wimped out and just bought mine.

I can't wait to start so I can ask you some stupid questions of my own...
I don't mind the promotion. I appreciated it. I don't know how you found my journal when my sig sent you else where but thanks. Stay tuned as I'm do for a complete and thorough journal. I ordered DNA's holy grail kush today. Also feel free to ask me questions anytime.

Re: Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains grow journal

Thanks guys, Bolivar, sman, Green Crome, and anyone else I missed, I will try and keep it interesting. Only 28 days till I can start some seeds. Don't get too excited about the broad range of genetics, I can't start all of them at once unfortunately. Kind of leaning on going with the Lucys and Skywalker for the 1st run. Still not totally decided. I will probably change my mind like 10 more times before the 1st seed is sown.

The final shipping price is in as of last night and it's only an extra 90 bucks. That helps a lot, as I'm sure I'll hit some cost overruns somewhere else. Everything should start to work its way across the country in the next week. Its like I'm a little kid again wanting to go to sleep early every night so Christmas comes faster.

Sky Rocket,
The way I found your journal is by going to your name and left click it, that takes me to your profile. On your home page under your picture one of the options is to find threads started by user. You can also choose find all posts by user. I was digitally stalking you man.:)

This has come in handy in the past when finding a member that is good at what he does. You can see where they are posting and chances are that those places are good journals as well. This has helped me save a lot of time finding journals that pay knowledge dividends immediately.

I would love to sit here all day and look at all the new guys stuff, but my time is limited. I can only read the "MH vs HPS", "HID vs LED", and the "to defoliate or not" debates so many times. For the record I am an HID, MH and HPS, and defoliator, as that is what works for me. I try and make my time on here count so that as little time is wasted as possible. I already excel at wasting time in other ways. Your journal was definatly not a waste of time and I can't wait for the new one to start.

If you guy are interested I can post a link to some of the journals that have helped me the most over the years or I can give you a PM. You could start with this Dude.

Re: Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains grow journal

By the way,
While I'm on the topic of other journals, Bolivar has and has used the other system that I purchased. It is called the Rain Forrest. His signature will take you there. Can't wait to ask you some question as well friend.

Sman, You are freakin ambitious, a DIY project of the scope that you are undertaking gives me shivers dude. I was already subbed to your journal and I'm rooting for you.

Mr Crome,
Can't wait for your set up pictures man. Room porn please..

Mr Rocket,
Your sig is still screwed up man. I can guide you through fixing it real quick if you want to send a PM.

The only one of those I've grown is the Super Lemon Haze, and although it's very excellent smoke, it will go vertical fast. So if you've got a low-hung light and using the RF, try some of the other ones first...

Yes the SL haze might give me problems. Your one up on me as I don't have any experience with these strains.

The plans for the first run of all them is pretty close to the same. I will try and run all the same type at once to keep the canopy uniform. Since I have two 600w lights I can hang the lights at different heights, but when you take into account that the light and reflector hang at a minimum of about a foot and the aero flo stands almost 2ft high that limits me to about 3ft plants 4ft at the max. Seed vigor can be a b%tch as well. In my other journal they got out of hand on the 1st run, but I learned that if I bush them out real good by topping and fimming, veg them to 1/3 of the planned height and then stay on top of them during the stretch, it can work.

I want clones of all the seeds that we have so that I can pick the keeper phenos for mums. It will be a challenge to keep the plant count down though as the clones will have to be kept until late into the flowering cycle of the mums to really pick the winners.

I would like to average at least 2oz per plant eventually to make it worth while for us, but to find the keepers in a timely manner I am just hoping for 1oz per plant to start and the veg to be bare minimum. Most likely the tops that I cut will turn into the clones and I will flip them a couple of days after taking them. Future runs that don't require seeds can be veged in the Rain Forest for a month and then transferred to the Aero Flo.

That is the plan for now anyways. Blah Blah Blah... I'll try and keep my posts to a minimum until I have something of substance for your viewing pleasure.

Re: Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains grow journal

I think you will get far more than 2oz per plant with that setup. If I remember correctly, I got nearly 2oz per plant on my first grow under a 250w cfl, and in 3g pots that got so rootbound they stopped growing midway through veg. I think you will be in for a nice surprise!

Re: Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains grow journal

ShepxDane sounds like a cool strain:) My security system is more of a lover not a fighter, but she looks and sound real mean.

Have a small update,
I was planning to get all of these things from the local Hydro store but things are starting to get a little tense with MMJ in our state. The not messing with people that are in "clear and unambitious compliance with state laws" as stated in the Holder memo is starting to look like it does not apply anymore to any of our care givers. I don't know and have not heard of them staking out the grow shops but it would not be above them to watch a place like this that specificaly cators to indoor horticulture. I try and keep my money local by spending local whenever possible but these guys are way overpriced, don't know what they are talking about sometimes, and worse won't tell you when they don't know what they are talking about.

Long story short for multiple reasons, mail order got my money this time.

The shopping list is as follows;

For seed and clones
2' Rockwool cubes
Rapid Rooter plugs
Clonex gel
For res maintenance
PH up
PH down
For the Meter
Electrode storage solution
1413 PPM cal solution
7.01 pH cal solution
Timer
ART-DNe - Adjustable Cycle Timer

The total price was $175 with shipping. This should be it for the gear, at least it for this run. Someday I will be able to walk away from my costly hydro habit...maybe. Better yet maybe my wife will step in and organize an intervention. I need one.

Re: Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains grow journal

Think of it as an investment. These things will pay for themselves in a grow or two, and you will have higher quality meds in abundance. Sometimes I have to remind myself that these plants thrive under the environments we give them, but they also do fairly well outdoors on their own, where ever that seed happened to land.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Rapid Rooter Plugs. They work well, but if you try to vent the dome they dry out quickly. I lost about half of my clones, and added about 2 weeks to the cloning time because I left the dome partially vented for a day when they started to show roots.

Re: Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains grow journal

Thank you 420fied, Mr Smith, Xlr8, Aberration, Pit Viper, Old Med Man, your journals and many other members of 420 Magazine have helped me immensely in different ways. I have been formulating this plan for the last year and ma finally able to start the execution phase.
This will be slow to start as I am still out of town for a job but that will be ending thankfully within a few weeks. The seeds have arrived and I should be making my 1st large purchase in the next few days. Perhaps this weekend. I have time on my hands now so I wanted to get this started and get alot of the hard boring stuff out of the way so that I can focus on family and room contruction when I arrive home. So here it is;

Strains
This is what we have in the home seed bank all of which arrived this week.

From an Non sponser
Barneys Lucy Fem 5
Reserva Skywalker OG Fem 6
CH9 Blue Lemon Thai 1
CH9 Jack 1
Eva Jamaican Dream 1
Eva Monster 1
Eva TNT Kush 1
CH9 Cluster 1
TH Mkage 1

From Herbie's
Green House Super lemon Haze 5
Barney's Tanjareen Dream 5
DNA genetics Lemon skunk 1
Reserva Purple wreck 2
Big Bud #2 Regular 5

Total Seeds: 36
Not decided as to which strains to go with this first run. I need to get some mothers out of this my intent is to get the best pheno out of each but I cannot go over 5 mums I can spread the rest to our local community med co-op . I would love to have some member input. You have approximately 32 days until I have to decide and throw 10 or so into a medium, so let me know what you think..

Looks like you have quite a grow in your near future! If I were to choose which strains to start with I would choose between:
- RP Skywalker OG
- Ch9 Blue Lemon Thai
- TH Mkage
- RP Purple Wreck
- BF Lucy

Can't wait for the grow to be underway :cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains grow journal

Subbed...I' be interested to see the Skywalker OG and the MKage...Oh and SLH.
The setup sounds devine, I'll be watching.:Namaste:

Re: Mr White's Aero Flo Assorted Strains grow journal

Didn't you post pictures last night? I came on to write back, and either they disappeared or I smoke too much.
Nope, no pictures yet. Musta been the medz. Still 24 days out from anything worth chronicling. The Blue Planet juice arrived on Monday. Thank you Corey. Still waiting on the larger stuff to get into the mail. Some of the supplies are back ordered but nothing to critical.

I am going to try and limit my posts as we are already at 3 pages with very little to show for it. I will just have to live vicariously through your journals till then. That said please keep your updates to them coming.:)

Hey guys,
Getting closer, by my guesstimate we have 16 days till some seeds have their first sip of RO'd water. Quixilver, good to have you. ChefGreen and GreenCrome, thanks for the input and your informative Journal, I really like your start date. The rooms ventilation plans are still crystallizing in my head and your layout has given me some ideas. Also great cookie recipe Mrs Green. Stoned4daze61, I can't wait to start either. As far as the first seeds to pop I have it narrowed down to the Skywalker or the Lucy. Anyone else I missed, good to have you and sorry for the delay.

The shipped items have started to come in. I have all that I need to pop some seeds and get started now but the big items are still out there in the logistical vacuum . They don't even have a tracking number for me. Do you believe that sh*t? No tracking number in this day and age.

I may be starting off with some Kandy Kush for the 1st run because a friend will have some clones waiting for me that I can go straight to flower with. That way I could experiment on the systems 1st run with a strain that I am familiar with. It would also give the seeds some time to get going, give me some time to stand up the clone army, and get us some good ganja while we wait for the new genetics.

See you soon

STILL USEING THE EDGE OF MY SEAT:popcorn:

I am hoping that everything will be delivered by the 14th or so Mr Green. I've never had that particular blight Daze. I am very clean in my grow room especially when it comes to the clones but I kind of wonder if it is just less of a problem for us in the mountain states. I have never had to do the research on PM because it has never reared it's ugly head in my garden before, so I don't know if it is a regional thing or what. Come to think of it I don't remember any of my friends bitching about it either, and some of them had very large gardens and were not so very clean.

Spider Mites though are a different story. When my buddies had their commercial med grows going it was a constant battle with the mites for them. I have not had them in my comparitively tiny grows since the 1st time they hit me in the 90s, but I still suffer from post traumatic stress disorder over that incident and the ensuing 100s of hours of work that it took me to limp that harvest in. We had 90+ flowering and we did little else but fight those little bastards.

So when it comes to bugs, I do not f#ch around anymore. Nothing goes on the plants except for Bio-neem on infected or suspect clones (clones from outside sources) that I get occasionally, but the room is another matter. The preventive chemical warfare campaign that I unleash on a yearly basis would make Chemical Ali proud. Other preventative practices for me include; no outside shoes in the garden, no pets, and no house plants unless they are started from seed and are germinated in the grow room. All passive intakes get a custom cut furnace filter and the only time i visit them is right when the lights come on after my nightly shower. It seems like a little bit of over kill but living with spider mite PTSD is a bitch.

When I clone with rock-wool, the water in the trays gets changed every couple of days and the trays and domes themselves get scrubbed with a bleach solution on change out. Roots are usually peeking out of the cubes by the 7-10 day mark if I use a seedling heater pad, so there is not a whole lot of time for the bad stuff to develop. I will journal my method when the time comes.

OMM's journal is one of the ones that I am subscribed to, love his air-pots, and now so is Yours, looking good:thumb:. I have yet to hear anything bad about the Lucy, and am curious to see if the Skywalker is the same stuff the California peeps talk about.

15 Days and counting.

Mr White, first off THANK YOU for choosing a larger font! I didn't realize how hard I was trying to see what I was reading until I scrolled down to your post and felt instant relief. Great detail in putting names in bold. You are definitely easy to enjoy!

No outside shoes in the garden, great idea, I wouldn't have thought about that. We have taken care of what clothes we had on; if we had spent the day tromping around outside, we would change before entering.

15 days! You must be so excited!
