WHOOOOOAAAAA! Be still my heart. You've gotten so good with the camera.

Looking really great PeeJay.

Glad you're back PeeJay, but hope you had fun while you were gone! Your plants look really nice! and they actually look a lot like mine to me haha. I must be doing something halfway decent, and our similar environments can't hurt.

about a week ago I mixed up some soil based off of what you did for yourself and what you recommended to Dennise and Reg, I really appreciate all the help you've given around here, I'm pretty much copying your style of soil growing to a 'T' for my upcoming grows, no more GO boxes or bottled nutes for me. :)

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Fun, SG? I've been like a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest. I just met a major deadline today and have had about seven total hours of sleep in the last two days... It has been fun work for the most part - just time consuming.

Temperatures have dropped sharply in the last week or so. I'm seeing highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s with bright sun durring the day. The plants are responding by making resin like crazy. I'm still not seeing much in the way of amber trichs but pistil formation has dropped drastically. I'm just going to watch closely for the time being. Here are a couple of pictures I took this morning.

Oh good heavens above. Fabulous photos, PeeJay.

You met a deadline? You know, I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make when they go by.

LOL. You and Hunter Thompson, Mr. Teddy. I think my years as a chef ruined the joyous sound of deadlines whooshing by because if they did I didn't stay employed...

For fun, find the ant that got stuck in the goo and died in one of the pictures.

hahaha found the Ant. There's worse ways to go than getting stuck in THC I'd think :laughtwo: sorry you were/are so busy PJ! I assumed you were on vacation or something >.< silly me.

Meeting Deadlines. I'm usually too early to meet a deadline. ::raise your hand if you believe that:: ::raise hell if you don't::

I'm not as computer literate as I'd like to believe I am, so give me a few days to figure out the avatar process.

I've been mesmerized by this journal for days now. It was the first journal to hold me from beginning to end. I just caught up and am anxiously awaiting the next installment. You have a natural talent for teaching PeeJay, and a wonderful way with growing technique. I have learned much from you and your cohorts in this journal. I was searching for an effective organic soil that I could pull together with limited storage space and without breaking our already limited budget and stumbled into your soil recipe in Raiven's journal. You inspired me so much that I took on a painting job for the landlord to cover the costs of soil components.

The Yum Yum is being shipped as we speak. The orders for the rest of the components stand waiting for my compensation to be delivered. What have you started? My seat is surrounded by sheets of notes and figures and I have a plethora of open tabs on the iPad as I explore one topic after another. This has been equivalent to a seminar, filled with the spirited debate and loving banter of old friends. You all have created a friendly atmosphere of open discussion and exploration that I find warmly inviting.

I'm getting ready to start my first grow from scratch in a tiny closet under CFLs and on a shoestring budget. The idea of building quality organic soil that only requires water appeals to me. My life is quite busy caring for family members with disabilities, so low maintenance and quality harvest was what I'm seeking. I've rescued two plants back-to-back from a challenged grower, improving technique as I saved them. Now I'm ready to start from the beginning. When you spend that much on seeds you'd be foolish not to build the best soil you could.

This is all new to me and I think I'm going to start my own journal when everything gets going in the next couple weeks. That will be a new experience for me as well. Lots of new things as I slip into the sixth decade. I look forward to getting to know all of you better. I'm deeply impressed with the wealth of gardening knowledge available on this site. Thank you all for sharing.

Susan :Namaste:

I think that avatar will suffice. This is a beautiful Desert Rose that I inherited years ago. Every year I winter it over in my daughter's apartment (we share the balcony) and completely neglect it. Every spring and summer it rewards my neglect with these stunning blossoms. Maybe using it here will remind me that it needs watered and it can regrow it's leaves. Last year was rough on it. I can do better.

Keep on rockin PeeJay.

Hi Susan. I get nice results in the soil. The two big plants needed a little help the last month with fishy ferts and two major flushes this time, but only because they went in the flower soil very early. They were in the same pots for 19 weeks instead of the 9 or 10 weeks they usually are. The clone went the whole way through flower in 3 gallons of soil. It just got a few shots of kelp foliar and water.

Harvested Beta last Sunday and it's in jars. The other two got chopped and trimmed on Friday. I didn't take any pictures but everything looks really nice - I'll get some dried nug shots up sometime soon. Beta and her clone and Alpha are quite different. The Beta pheno had a much higher leaf/calyx ratio. The colas had lots of tightly embedded fan leaves that made trimming it a pain. In the end it is much lighter and fluffier than I had thought it would be. I've smoked some of it a couple of times and it is very very good. The chlorophyll degraded quickly.

I'll get some pictures when I get back home - out of town for a few days. Here are a couple of pictures of Alpha and the clone ~ 4 days before I chopped 'em.

Impressive PeeJay. I found your journal inspirational. You motivated me to take that leap and get going. I have supplies and components ordered and being shipped, so one day this week I will be mixing soils and preparing the grow space to accommodate three Autos. I've incorporated what you taught me with what COorganic led me to on LOS and will be mixing my own batch. I'm particularly excited about the yum yum mix. Between that mix and the nutrient kit for CC soil mix and some exotic Japanese river sands and zeolite we had laying around from past bonsai growing I should have a lovely environment to get my plants through to harvest with an occasional ACT and top dressing with yum yum. I've started my grow journal to document the process. Hope to have you drop by now and then to check up on me.

I'll be watching for those pictures of nugs and waiting to follow your next grow journal.

Susan :Namaste:

Everything is in jars. The summer was good to me, just over 8oz of nugs and a ton of popcorn for cooking, extracts, etc. The buds smell fantastic - like fresh brewed espresso when you squeeze the lemon zest over it. Gets me way baked - a little more sativa forward than I like but not jittery, just crisp. It should develop nicely over the next few weeks of curing. Didn't turn out super dense and was a pain to manicure due to a high leaf to calyx ratio in the colas, but overall a really nice smoke.
