Phantom's Multi-Strain SoG Pheno Hunt

Update #8 - Week 7.5 of Flowering (12/12)

Well let me start with the bad news, last week I was battling thrips on my mother clones and on my indoor SoG. I took drastic measures and defoliated my indoor SoG 2 weeks early. This helped knock out the beginning of the infestation and I was able to stay in front of it. The solo cup clones weren't so lucky and received the worst of it. They are just starting to recover. The good news is everything is dead and I may only end up losing 5-6 of these mother plants. Tonight I was able to move the SoG tent, allowing me to lower the racks the plants sit on and setup my temperature and humidity controller. The flowering tent and veg tent in the same room was just staying too humid. Tomorrow I'll give all the SoG girls a watering with 2.75-3 gr/gal MC. The solo cup mothers will get 2.0 gr/gal.

Now onto the outdoor girls, they just started fattening up the last day or two. Tomorrow they will also get a watering and I'm thinking about cutting back on the MC 0.5-1.0 gr/gal and adding in 0.5-0.75 gr/gal Bud Explosion.

When will you move them inside?

Update #9 - Week 8 of Flowering (12/12)

Thrips are completely under control and the plants are starting to recover indoors. I fed the indoor SoG 2.75gr/gal MC and all 3 TPS supplements I've been running on the outdoor plants at the recommended dosage. I had considered cranking up the cal/mag but everything seems to be turning around after the infestation. I did have to toss 2 of the mother plants, they died back and rotted away. I think there will be 2-3 more that don't make it. One looks like it will survive, all the others have bounced back and are being fed 2.5 gr/gal MC with cal/mag and silica supplements. No photos from inside this week, that shit is boring.

The outdoor ladies were dropped back from 2.5 gr/gal MC to 1.5 and given 0.5 gr/gal Bud Explosion along with the 3 TPS supplements.

Sorry about all the white fluffy hairs on my plants. I have, to quote my landscaper, "the largest desert broom [he's] ever seen" putting out this crap everywhere. I'm also really liking the early morning sun on the garden, the golden hour is between 9:30 and 10:30 back there.

Pictures don't do it justice. You can tell the bud is deep purple but it looks white from the frost.

Looks pretty good dude. That purple reminds me of a friends Spicey Thai.

Phantom are you using filters while taking the pic?

Looking good my friend, I love the colors. I wish I could grow in my greenhouse this late in the season. I love the hi desert but it does freeze at night here.

Update #10 - Week 9 of Flowering (12/12)

Good afternoon! There's snow on the mountains today after the rain we had yesterday and early this morning. The outdoor ladies are adjusting nicely to being indoors, no cold feet this morning. I'm currently working on a fresh batch of nutrients to feed them with, some were a little light yesterday but today is when I would have fed them anyways. The SoG is staying outside but will be moved to a better place in my yard for more sunlight throughout the day. The SoG is roughly 3.5' square by 3-4' tall, so it hides easily and doesn't smell as much as the larger plants did.

Anyways, things are just chugging along now, both indoors and outdoors. I'll be starting seeds in the next week or 2, '79 Xmas bud for an open pollination project and potentially something more.

Photo time...
So here's the ladies inside, sorry about the yeller.

So they are looking good but I wish they would have filled in more than what they have. Who knows there is still a few weeks left, I'll be checking a few plants this weekend that are supposed to be "fast" versions that flower a week or 2 quicker. I believe they were made by breeding and auto and photo plant then selecting the the plants with the faster finishing traits.

Onto the existing indoor plants.
20201210_202132.jpg

The color is back, growth is coming back fast and buds are starting to grow. It will be a few days before they are thirsty again, they had 15 gallons in 3 days this week. When they are thirsty again I think I will bump up the MC on them just a bit. As I mentioned over on the Skull Cave thread, I will be doing some more defoliation and leaf tucking this weekend, as well as, moving around plants for better light.

More photos in the next post, be patient.

Lastly I want to tease you all a bit by saying I will have some big news coming soon in the next week or two. Plus a chance to vote next week on which seeds I plant for 2021.

Ok that will do it for tonight's trichome and tent check. Have a great week and don't forgot to keep the journal clean by dropping by Phantom's Skull Cave with your comments. Thank you.

Update #12 - Week 10 of flowering (12/12)

Alright doing this update in two parts, mostly because I need to be on site tomorrow morning around the time my lights switch on/off (two 12/12 grows running at opposite times for those unaware) so I won't be able to post both grows at once. Tonight's post will be on the indoor SoG.

I slacked by a day on watering and am now playing catch up. So far I'm 10 gallons into watering the ladies and will probably give them another 5 gallons before I'm done. I've upped the feeding to go a shade greener based on Mega Crops color feed chart. They are now being fed 3.0 gr/gal MC and at the recommended dosages for TPS Silica Gold, Signal (trichome/terpene enhancer), and nitrogen free cal/mag.

Alright enough of the talking, here's the photos.
20201217_212238.jpg

I still have a few of the thrip damaged leaves remaining to be removed. I'll also need to do some more tucking and defoliation.

Update #12 - Continued

So since I had given an update earlier this week during the trichome check of the 5 gallon outdoor gone indoor plants, I figured I would just focus the last half of the 2 part update on the mini-SoG. I will just throw this in there that the outdoor/indoor ladies are at 1.5 gr/gal MC, 0.7 gr/gal Bud Explosion, and the full dosage of the 3 TPS supplements I'm running on all the other plants I have.

Ok, now for the mini-SoG, these little ladies are just chugging along enjoying themselves in the natural sunlight and the free sample of @GeoFlora Nutrients Bloom. I hit them with the garden hose and not much else. These ladies are frosty but not large buds. They are pretty carefree and are setup next to my outdoor sofa and coffee table where I go out to drink my coffee at in the mornings. It's beautiful catching that first ray of light illuminating the colas and trichomes. Reminds me of the winter frost on the trees back in Minnesota, glistening in the light.

Update #13 - Week 6 of Flowering (12/12)

So the week number is a little messed up, that's because we are no longer worried about the outdoor girls gone indoor.

20201224_210546.jpg

They all got the chop tonight. Any larf or buds I didn't feel like trimming went into the Kroger hash bags. I ended up filling 5, they went into the freezer to be made into hash at a later date. Any buds worth trimming stayed on the plant and are hanging in the tent.

20201224_205137.jpg

Terrible photo, I know.

20201224_233751.jpg

So with these ladies chopped I needed to update things to the indoor SoG, which is at week 6 of 12/12 lighting.

20201224_211316.jpg

Last week after bumping up the MC dosage most the the light green disappeared but as the week went on it returned. The ladies received a watering of 3.25 gr/gal MC and the 3 TPS supplements. I can't wait for these ladies to start to swell.

Tomorrow I will be starting a poll containing my feminized seed collection. I'm looking for people to help select 1 of the 4 seeds for my new grow I will be starting after the New Year, so stick around for that.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone, no matter what you celebrate enjoy the time with your friends and family!

Drop by Phantom's Skull Cave with your comments. Thank you for stopping by.
