Two Tents By Twox: A Memoir Of A Monthly 8oz Harvest

New bulb:Namaste:
I've been using the Eyehortilux for a long time and it was a great bulb. Never had any issues and works like a champ but it has some hours on it and is long overdue for a replacement.

I went with a Digilux this time. I've heard good things about them and there spectrum looks really good compared with the Hortilux. The bulb is freaking huge though. I had to check the dimensions to make sure I Bought the right bulb. Some nice packaging with this digilux..

I'll switch bulbs once I harvest the Birthday Cakes... Looks like a nice bulb.

I cannot say that I have seen larger yields from regulars so far, actually it is the opposite, but I have found some nice females so far. .......... The seed addiction is real.

Of course it is. I'm partnering with :420: and opening a clinic in 2018.

There's a reason for your observations. Right here..
I'm right there with ya... Yeti. Been running REG seeds for a while. At the end of the day, the phenos worthy of flowering is worth the PITA selection and males and all their drama. I just went thru selecting 4 males (looked like fems) in a row to transplant into 7gal containers only to find 5 days later balls... Mofo... finally the ladies showed me the goods after 10 days in 12/12ish. That's the extreme for me.

I get better yields from the non-fem'd seeds. Usually 2x yields (or more), so it's worth it for me. Only issue for me with REG seeds is height... and running out of it indoors. Rope some dope.. easy 'nuff.

REG seeds takes a larger dedicated VEG space.

That's a testament to bob's pheno hunt skills. That's were it all starts. A feminized seed is only as good as it's parent. From what I see, and this is opinion based solely on my observation and interaction with professional US breeders, feminized breeding is fairly new. For years it's been it's been considered taboo by breeders because it narrows the gene pool. Some of the even older school of thought believes it breeds hermaphrodites. I'm sorry but if you are breeding hermaphrodites from your fem seeds please go back to the beginning of this paragraph. If your not then still go back. :laughtwo:
The problem is yes it is a narrowed gene pool and some production breeders have trouble grasping and working within the feminized breeding concept. It's not just spray a plant with colloidal silver and go like a home grower. You have to be every bit as selective. Perhaps even more so due to the narrowed pool. They are great at what they do but they are discovering it's a brave new world. A sort of green rush inside of a green rush that they want a piece of but have neither, or either or, the time/space or hands on knowledge to make it happen. Those that do have the resources from a production stand point are still learning and forging. Unfortunately the results hit the market in floods. When the dust settles all shall be revealed. ;)

Do they make any 400w ones?

I splurged on an Ushio a while back but it came dead so I still haven't tried out any nicer bulbs. Just been running generics.

Oh ya, they make a 400.. I was going to just get another Hortilux but I wanted to try something new.. My local grow shops carry cheap ass bulbs for $20... I had to pass.

There doing good, well at least one is... I hate the taller one, 5ft is too damn tall. Lol

:thumb:

If I sneak out the window I probably won't come back... lol, I'm free..

Nope, no kids. I practice a lot though... Hahaha... come on, that was funny..
I plan on it but not quite yet. My friend Electro here has some breeding skills. Hella babys.. :thumb:

Purple Urkle Photo Dump.
Yeild sucked this month, 7.9oz.... The top I lost would have made my 8.. oh well. I think I over crowded the Urkles and I'm due for a new bulb..

The Urkles smoke really good though. Not a lot of color due to the heat wave I wasn't prepared for during late flower. Taste is still fruity and the buds are still frosty and rock hard. I may have over defoilated these ladies too but I'm not worried. On with the pics because I need to check my little ones.

Cool story of the day:
In house Genetics had a contest on Instagram to help name some new strains an I decided to participate. If he choose to use any names the winner would get a free pack of the strain he named. He choose a strain I named and I won a pack...

.... :high-five::idea::yahoo::blunt::woohoo:

The strain was MendoBreathXGoliath. I named it Grapes of Wrath...Pretty damn cool if you ask me...

A 7.9 oz yield sucks? Dude I'd be happy with 2 oz a month. Though if I had a constant supply of my own medicine I might wanna try for atleast 4 oz a month.

Nice name for the strain! Grapes of Wrath. I'll be sure to watch you grow some of those. Dunno how you'd still have room to grow new strains though. Though I'm sure you'll find a way to pack 'em in.

lol Yeah mine is a $20 grow-store special. Though I was quite amazed I found an even cheaper looking GE brand one at the True Value. I got it pretty much to just get through my last harvest and I kind of forgot about replacing it since then. Should have splurged on better bulbs when I was buying my new tent and such.

Where did you see the 400s? Looking on the river and can't seem to see any.

They told me the bulbs worked well and everybody uses them but with all the money I spend on genetics, electricity, soil, nutes, tents, fans and the mass amount of my life I feel like I'm dedicating to these grows I just can't see myself risking my entire grow so I can save $40..

Here's the 400watt version... nice price too..

Ok, I over exaggerated.. Yeild was "OK" and the naturally low yielding Urkle turned out some nice nugs.. I could blame it on this and that but I need to find a higher yielding strain to run with my low yielders to balance everything out.

The name game was fun and it was pretty funny seeing so many people's minds in the gutter.. I'm so glade he didn't name any strains Big Black Johnson.. lol

Sweeet. Thanks, gonna give it a try. Looks like it has a better spectrum than my Ushio did. Weird shaped bulb though. I better check the draw just to make sure. *hates playing with a 30 amp service*

Yeah like I said I'm kicking myself I didn't get a nicer bulb. Spent a ton on a new tent and the T5 and all that, couldn't toss $50 at a decent lamp lol

All of them....... JK I hope. In Oregon, they had a cap of 15 mills. They did nothing to me. But it takes ALOT for me.. GL and Keepem Green

Eat 'em all and blast everyone with your bright red lazer eyes.

I decided to chop the Birthday Cake last night and found a little pm. I gave all the buds a h2o2 bath due to me being over cautious. Good tho g to because there's a ton of buds on these ladies... just a sneak peek
