Greenlizard's First Grow: Purple Kush & Hash Plant, October 2018

Also here are some photos of the plants starting to show sex. Is it normal to show before the flowering time switch?

They can show that early. Van Stank and Ase have been discussing it in their threads. I never noticed mine doing it before the flip but to be honest I don't look that close because I buy femanized seeds.

It could be. It could also be a strain trait. Like i mentioned i havent paid much attention to them until I flip. When i start growing regular seeds i will be looking at them. The guys I mentioned have been sexing normal seedling to early veg plants.

My scrog soon to be set up is 4 feet by 8 feet. I have run one grow with it. W

hen i finish this back to the scrog still not a lot of veg time i will bend then into it as soon as they begin to veg some.

Happy Holidays everyone!
I switched my light cycle to 12/12 today and did a little more defoliation. The pots were nice and light so I did a watering as well.
I also bent a few branches into the ScrOG.
Next time they need a drink should I start with Bloom nutes?

Only two days later and I took a bunch more fan leaves off. I also took clones today. At what day after light time change do I consider them into flower?
I hope I did the clones right. I cut on a 45, scraped the bottom portion of the stem, diped them in root stim, then put them in the pucks. The humidity dome is on a heat mat as well.

I switch to pre-flower or flower nutrient schedule when I flip. For some nutrient packeges that means different bottles and others it is just a switch in the N-P-K ratios.

Some people consider being in flower with the flip to 12/12 others wait for the plant to start throwing pistils. I don't count the days between the flip and when pistils start to appear as flowering but you said yours were already showing. The time to finish listed by the breeder is a guide. Most of the time they take longer than what they tell you to fully mature. Like all crops when they get close to being done you will watch the thrichomes to determine ripeness.

5th day into 12/12.
Been spreading them out with the ScrOG. Seems to be keeping a nice even canopy.
At what point should I stop bending the tops back down under the net? Also when should I do my last defoliation?

It appears you got some more tucking to do. It's hard to see, but going by the second from the top row 5th from the right side square, that plant appears to be tucked under maybe just one square to the side of the one it would have gone through naturally. If the others are like that it means you have a ways to go; they need to be tucked under several more so when you finally let it through it grows as an even canopy.
If you can lower the screen it will hasten the process; some also continue to tuck even after the light flip before allowing it to grow through, but I'd wait awhile before flipping (and deciding to do that).

Ok so I am 9 days into flower and they have started to grow faster. When should I do my last defoliation? I was thinking about almost stripping the plants right down today and remove any suckers that haven't made it up to the scrog at this point. I don't have a photo yet because the girls are still sleeping for a few more hours.

Well I went ahead and did a major defoal and a bit more tucking. I don't think I will do this again now being in flower. I just wanted to get the most tops up into the canopy as possible.
I am preparing their feeding now so they will at least have a refreshing drink after such an ordeal.

Any advice on defoliating during flower? Did I do a bad thing? I'll get the glue out and stick em back on if I have to. LOL
Here are some after and before photos.

Just a little update.
The plants are recovering from their defoal. Going to do some more tucking.

Also the clones are doing pretty good. Almost all have roots. I think I will plant some now.

Thanks guys.
I ended up planting them into solo cups and watered with 1/4 strength nutes.
4 of them still need a little longer so I figured I wouldn't give up on them just yet.
In the photo you can also see the 3 seedlings.
The seedlings look a little wilted because I let them dry out really well. I watered them about 15 minutes before taking the photo.

12 hours later and the seedlings perked right back up. I am a firm believer that letting the soil dry out almost completley between watering makes for stronger, and healthier plants.
