Greenlizard's First Grow: Purple Kush & Hash Plant, October 2018

Well I did a full dosage feeding to my more mature Purple Kush (PK1A) as I call her.
The more mature of the seedlings now has it's second true leaves developing nicely. I cut the remaining mixture I fed to PK1A by 1/3 to 2 parts straight water. Will see how a very light feeding goes. The next down the line are just beginning to develop their second leaves so I watered the mixture down again to 1/8 to 7 parts water. This was probably not even considered a feeding but I thought I would test the waters.

I am very curious about the growth pattern of my PK1A. She looks like she might have split again? I'm new to this and never seen a cannabis plant through it's development stages yet so I don't really know what I'm looking at LOL.

I don't think she split again, she has started growing alternating nodes like in the flower stage.

Put a link to your journal in your signature and post a pic of her in the FAQ section, should get some interesting replies from those who have seen this before.

Well I had a feeling I should transplant PK1A. She has been growing very well and I didn't want to hold her back.

Turns out she was just about ready to start getting root bound. I raised my lights and wet the new pot with just PH'ed water since I just fed last night.

I also had to give the seedlings a booster seat.

Well it's been about a week since I updated. I have watered and fed this past Monday. It is now Friday and the pot is just starting to get light. I am growing in Sunshine mix #4 and it holds water like crazy! As of right now I can only water every 5-6 days or else I fear it would be too much. I was curious if my grow mix is holding moisture like this should I still only feed every second watering or should I feed every watering? If I were to feed only every second watering the plants would only get fed once every week and a half or close to it.
The other plants are doing well too. I have transplanted two of them into their veg pots this past Monday, and I will transplant the remaining two this weekend as well.
Well here are some photos.

So just a little update...
Last night I re-potted the last two little ones. Everyone seems to be in full veg now and growing quickly.
I did another full feeding and watering on the first 3 and the two newly potted girls got a half dose of food with their watering. That's 6 days since the last water and the pots just finally got light but the plants didn't even show signs of being thirsty. This Sunshine Mix #4 is crazy for holding moisture. Should I just water with PH'd water next time since I have been feeding? I understand that most people alternate between just water and feeding but since this soil only allows me to water once every 5-6 days should I be feeding every time?
I should also mention that I topped the larger plant last night as well. I might be mistaken but I believe I Fimed the two tops. I carefully cut the top 3/4 off of the newest growth in the center of each top. I hope I didn't screw it up.

Here's a few shots immediately after the transplant and watering/feeding.

Well there isn't much to update but I did LST the larger Purple Kush. Due to the strange growth she has two main branches and when I started pulling down on the branches she split a little bit down the center. I used pipe cleaners and I used one of the pipe cleaners to somewhat tie the two branches back together in order to take pressure off the split. Hopefully she heals. That was about 3 days ago and she still looks healthy so I guess she is recovering. I was able to get light down to a lower branch and it is starting to take off now. That was my goal.

I call this photo "attack of the white caterpillars". LOL.

I am personally feeding both times I water each week. However, this is per Fox Farm's Gringo Rasta feeding instructions (they want you to feed 2x's/week but you can water with plain water additionally). What are the feeding instructions of the nutes you are using? If they state that this frequency is OK and the plants are responding well, then go for it.
Keep in mind that with Fox Farm they recommend an initial flush after 5 weeks (1 week in seedling+4 in veg) then 2 more spaced 3 weeks apart to keep salt buildup down.

Just tightened up the pipe cleaners tonight. Hoping to get a few more tops.

Well I purchased two more four foot Sunblaster T5 lights last night. I also purchased reflectors for them as well as the two I already had. I hope to see a boost in growth. My watering / feeding requirements have increased due to more growth. I am now alternating a watering, and a feeding about every 3-4 days. As the plants get larger they drink more. Also with the addition of two more lights I suspect I will have a little more heat and in result have more evaporation.
I have been very aggressively training all of the girls and so far they have responded very well. I only topped the larger Purple Kush (PK1A). She has given me 3 tops from both sites. I attempted to FIM so I guess it was a success...
I only trained the rest. Not sure if I will bother to top them or not as I want to encourage more growth to help catch up to PK1A and topping will likely slow down the growth of these slightly smaller plants.
The last feeding was this past Saturday night. They will get watered tonight or tomorrow depending on how light they feel when I get home from work.

The first photo shows how wide PK1A has gotten from training and topping. Keep in mind she is a double plant and that helped spread her out more.

Should I start to defoliate some of the larger plants? I don't want to slow down the growth but I could get light to a few more tops if I were to defoliate I think...
I have been training them and tying down some of the fan leaves but it's to the point on a couple of the plants that the foliage is too bush to manage... at least for my lack of experience.
Thanks for checking out my grow.

Is there any way you can go to a larger size pot? Your plants would fit nicely into 5-gallon fabric bags.

Yes actually I have 7 gallon pots to transplant them into when I switch them over to my tent for flower under my 315 Watt Ceramic MH. Or should I transplant now and veg under the MH for a couple weeks before switching to flower?
I was trying to save power by vegging under the T5's.

They are ready to transplant now. As to the lights, I do not know; I'm using LED's and QB's.

Transplant early! I used to go from 1 to 3 to 7 to 15 gallon pots but now I just go from 1 gallon to the end pot. I don't touch the roots at all, just drop it into more sunshine #4 that is fairly wet with a 50% nute solution , and have yet to notice any transplant shock. They are looking great.

Your only saving 100 watts or so, and won't they just get to flip size faster under the bigger light, saving you a little power there? I used to flower under MH and I still think that it made for stronger herb, just not quite as much production.
