New City Grower 2.0

How can you not like root riots? I think they're brilliant & are easily the best medium to see the moisture content.

Anyway, if you want to save the seed & think it could be the peat moss then you could gently remove it & put it in perlite?

OK, ok already! We're taking another shot with the Rockwool cubes & will also try the Rapid Rooters again. This time around we'll try using the Ziplock bag technique that got me out of the Dead Clone Society. We'll be popping nothing but bag seeds until we get our groove back. It's time to re-negotiate our germinating method.

Also transplanted that little seedling into PJ's start up Soil Mix.

I think the sprout you're worried about will be fine. sometimes when the shell of the seed gets removed too soon or too late the round leaves will be damaged like that. don't let it scare you.

FIFTH WAVE STREET GIRL

This work in progress is getting close to where I want her to be before letting it grow out.

I agree Magic. It's time consuming but it's fun.

QUICK UPDATE
Jan 16, 2014

I may have jumped the gun with the peat-moss/perlite/vermiculite seedling start up mix. As of today 3 out 5 have broke ground with the two bagseed beans that were planted after them waiting to pop. It may take two, three, or four days longer but if the percentile rate proves to be greater I'm all for it.

LEMON KUSH (Feminized) Day 1

This is the one for fluxing.

BAG SEED Day 7

If you notice, it takes awhile to get started if you wait & let the seedlings remove their head gear on their own but it seems to encourage strength.

CARAMELA
Day 123 / Day 81 under 12/12

We had planned on chopping her this evening or tomorrow but after checking the trichs she's still only about 75/25% clear/cloudy. Her buds are as hard as a rock but she's still producing fresh pistils.

We also had 4 more bag seeds tap-root.

1 each was placed in a Rapid Rooter cube & a Rockwool cube.

1 was placed in the Perlite/LI Grower's Mix SIP.

And the last one was placed in our perlite/vermiculite/peat-moss starter medium.

Let's see who sprouts first.

Now the Upper Deck of the Veg Tent is full.

Here's some advice Reg & you can take it or leave it :)
I find I got better results when I didn't have the rapid rooters too wet. If you soak them, give them a gentle squeeze to remove the excess water & that's as wet as you want them. If you give the top a squeeze & see just a touch of water, they are perfect. As they dry, you'll notice them turn a paler shade of brown. Use a syringe & re-moisten with a few ml of water. Don't have them sat in water as they draw too much up & get too wet :)

I do not use a humidity dome when germinating seeds in Rapid Rooters. I have tried both using Rapid Rooters without water in a tray and and with water in a tray and found I preferred to hand watering daily with a syringe and not using water in a tray when germinating seeds in Rapid Rooter's.

I also no longer use my dome when using rapid rooters. I just open the hole in the lug a bit deeper and wider, pop my bean and then tear a bit from the side to pot the hole.
Currently have 4 seeds in rapid rooters, humidity a bit too low at 37% and the temp a bit too high at 77f but one has already popped her she'll of and started climbing towards the light.

I use XLR's seed germination technique for rapid rooters and so far I have 100% rate. Making sure the plugs are not too wet is key.
