Relaxed's 2014 Outdoor Medical Grow

Good news, I successfully scored some of the legendary "Panama Red" seeds, as well as Santa Maria x Blueberry which I think is supposed to be a cross between Planck's cut (later named Santa Maria), and DJ short Blueberry. Thanks to my good 'ol friend OG(1969), an amazing grower, member, and friend here at :420: Santa Maria x Blueberry "Santa Maria, a variety of marijuana stemming from the Brazilian Amazon where it has been used in a spiritual context, is now available in the Netherlands"

The Legend of Panama Red

:cheer: Score!!! :cheer:

I got my juicy purple Panama - now I want me some genuine Santa Maria ... :cheesygrinsmiley:

I think I may be partial to Brazilian strains. I absolutely love my Utopia Haze and the current Carnival is interesting as hell!

:bravo:I was showing off your garden to my lady, she said to tell you "a beautiful garden and she loves your turtle, what's is the turtles name? Also we are giving you reps for your garden. She also wants to know if you have seen a rose that is white ivory with raspberry or burgundy tips, extremely fragrant like old fashioned ones? If you ever run across one, please let her know, she thanks you very muck Mr. Relaxed Lester.

Thanks! Our pet tortoise is a "California Desert Tortoise", he is about 50 years of age and his name is Methuselah.

About the roses, I'm not sure, MOST of our roses are extremely fragrant, the pink and white ones are a bit less fragrant, but the purple colored ones smell like pure perfume, our rose plants were grafted about 30 years ago, and so depending on how low we cut them back each year we may see a set of different blooms on the same plant. We have to use a pretty powerful system insecticide to keep the aphids and spider mites from eating them up. I probably have not been tending to them as much as I have been the other plants right now, but for things growing for 30 years they tend to get by pretty good on their own!

I know this is a little off-topic conversation, however it certainly does relate to my cannabis, as my roses are only a matter of feet away from my medicine, and whatever plants are doing in one part of the yard can certainly have an effect on plants in the other part of the yard. I try to treat everything as equals, the more beautifully fragrant flowers and lush vegetation around the yard, the more chance of luring a female moth into depositing its eggs elsewhere. As long as I can get trick them into wasting all their energy into larvae in a separate location I have done my job.

Anyways thanks for the kind words. :thanks:

Aloha Brotha Relaxed Looking good out there im seeing a new part of the yard now well it looks like a different spot lol

:lot-o-toke:Thank you for all your information Mr. relaxed, you made her day & cool pet. A smart man you are about putting lush plants next door to your meds I'll keep that in mind.

Panama Red, you say. That will be a sight for sore eyes :yummy:

Hey les how's it growing? The girls are all looking lovely over there didn't realize you had a new journal lol had to hop over here. Just posted pics finally of the new set up over here in Flexible lol well anyway keep up the good work.

Happy sunny California day Lester! Your garden is incredible. Growing anything and everything makes life so much more worthwhile. Thanks for the peak into your world. It warms the heart and mind to see it!

Still squeezing on these fan leaves for juice though!

Bob ;)

damn we might have to make some moth nets. lol. I will be spraying my raspberries ,grapes and cherry trees this year. The all had something eating on them last year.
Funny you got a Panama Red and a friend gave me some cuttings. one was Acapulco Gold. to funny. also gave me a purple.

Great ladybug porn. Have you ever found eggs? I searched all last year for them. Never found any. Found larva, but no eggs. I'm wanting egg pictures. They love to be misted. They come out and do a happy dance when they are misted.

oh yea so i just read through yea lol i post then i read lol
so i think another good reason to have other plants around your med plants
is some plants are better at attracting pests than others itll keep em off your meds

It's going OK, I'd say. This year is really going to be kind of experimental towards which strains I want to run, it's really hard to imagine being able to replicate last year, it's hard to fit in all the strains I want to grow and revisit into my measly 12 plant limit (6 budding at a time lol),so timing and choice of seeds are critical but we'll see! Just checked out your new pics, looking good! :bravo:

Thank you Dr Bob, I could not have said it any better myself! I am so glad that people can appreciate and see my garden as it grows. :Namaste:

Some kind of netting can't really hurt, unless its inhibiting sunlight or airflow. And obviously as you know with the mold problems we have we need airflow! I think you more than anyone knows what I mean when I say "I pray for dry conditions". Rasberries huh? You know I gave some thought into this, as well as Blueberry and/or Blackberry, still gonna try one. Boisenberry is supposed to do very very well for our climate though so also thinking about that one. I noticed I could buy the "stump" of the plant at the hardware store and regrow it from just a "stick" lookin' thing. Reminds me I should pick one up. Growing grapes is an art man I'll tell ya, I haven't made any wine ever but maybe one day I'll be motivated to start up some grapes..
Not sure if you ment ladybug eggs or worm eggs. But I'll say this, I never found any ladybug eggs, maybe once, I've seen a lot of different creatures on my plants. Last year when I had the "jungle" that had ladybugs and praying mantis at the same time, you know what it was is when the plants are big and bushy I do not like to spray them whatsoever because the inner-bushings traps the moisture, and I've had to kill off entire bushes just to save the other ones from a possible infection. Like grape growers who use botrytis mold to suck the water out of the stems holding the grapes (concentrating the sugars), however I've seen it growing on my weed stems too. Not a good thing to let go unseen. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but my point is that the ladybugs prolly died or left because I neglected to really water them. Kind of a one trick pony for me unless the plants are in veg. About the worm eggs, you know I do inspect the buds as thoroughly as I can, but the worm eggs are placed in secretive areas, they've adapted to hide them so animals and humans don't find them, so I can look as hard as I can and still find nothing, I just try to find the pupae before they get too big and eat too much buds, so I kind of gave up looking for the eggs and counting on that method, even though if you can find 'em more power to you, to be quite honest I don't have the time everyday to inspect the plants daily with an ice-pick, that is part of the tragedy of these worms is sometimes I got to leave for days and so unseen eggs can turn into pupae in a matter of ~48 hours or less and I could return to bad buds quite easily. Those green loopers are so much better(comparatively) than the corn borers, the memory of that still haunts me, and no one should have to deal with what I have had to deal with when harvesting some of the garden's most precious crops. :Namaste:

I read an article in my local newspaper a couple of years ago

about ladybugs. It seems that there is quite an industry in these parts

hunting and gathering ladybug clutches in the spring. They need evergreen

forests to propagate according to the article. I guess that is why we have so

many around here all summer. :ciao:
