1st Grow - Soil - CFL - High DIY Level

So, I'm about 2 weeks into flowering, and the screen is filling with the ones that I thought would make it, so that's great. Now I need to get rid of that undergrowth.

Can I just cut it all off, taking care not to damage the main stems ? Should I do bits and pieces for the next few days ?

If you are going to trim her back 2 weeks in to bloom would probably be the latest I would do it, and all at once. I doesn't look like they should need too much snipping though. Looks good though based on the last pictures!

Day 45

I plan on cutting most stuff below the screen. As I understand it, this is the way to go, right ? Do I need to take special care with how I do it, or can I just cut out all new growth and buds, leave the fanleaves in there for their nurtureing properties, and keep pruning new growth popping up under the screen ? Would this be a bad idea ?

Input very much apreciated!

Based on their looks .. naming a plant helps :goof:

As always, thanks for your time, I'm a terrible showmaster, I hope my plants speak for themselves ;)

Hi Planet J!

Subbed up to watch the finish, I see you have CO Finest & Virgin Grower following, among some other good growers. Thanks for stopping over & like I said I backed off of my potential Scrog, so I'll stick around and watch this to the end.

:peace:

If it were me I would take very little off those plants. You should have veg'd for a few weeks under the screen to fill it better then you could have afforded to remove lower stuff, but it looks like you would be taking more than you are leaving which would be very bad at this point. Your best bet is to try to get some light to the under screen growth however you choose to do that. Your plants are real huge for a scrog grow method, but you do have the idea just need to veg longer under the screen and tuck and weave till the screen is almost full then chop lower growth and swithch to flowering.

Day 46

Just a quick update .. nothing special done yet. Just gave them water with fertilizer again .. about 2 hands full ... going on feeling here as I cant be bothered to convert 2kg per 100 m2 to my pot size area .. they'll just have to find a way to deal with it :p

You can fit about 10 plants in 1 m2 (square meter) so divide 2kg by 10, then multiply times the number of plants you have :)

In this case, 3 plants.

2,000 /10 = 200 (This number seems high, I would guess this to be more of an outdoor number perhaps?)
200 x 3 = 600 grams.

And your plants have gotten huge man. The CFL looks like a decent success so far! Keep on going :D

Lil error in the math I think..

2kg / 100 m2 = 20 gr / m2 = 6 grams going with 10 plants per m2 ?
10 plants per m2 seems a bit much tho ?

You are right in that it is for outside use. Regular garden fertilizer.

I'm going by information I've read on the forums here, the rule of 10 plants per square meter :)

kg = kilograms. There are 1000 grams in a kilogram. The math is correct.

2,000 grams = 2kg.

2,000 / 10 plants per square meter = 200 grams from each plant.

In your first math equation, you are calculating 100 plants in a square meter.
In the second, you are calculating 20 grams from 1 square meter.

Just take the total harvest weight from 1 square meter, and divide by 10 plants per square meter.

Outside numbers are also much bigger. You can probably achieve similar numbers indoors with a really good HPS/MH setup, or possibly LED as well, but I don't think we'll come close to those numbers with a CFL grow.

Most indoor harvest weight will fall between 15g-50g per plant.

Except that the 2kg is for 100 m2 .. not 1 m2. So that would be 1000 plants on 100 m2 or 2 gram per plant. I highly doubt that.

Also, this is for lawns and stuff .. nothing special for cannabis ;)

Ohhhhhhh I follow you now. Sorry man, I had a moment of coffee lag there.

So with those new numbers I agree with you 100%. 2 grams per plant doesn't sound correct at all.

Someone's math is very, very wrong lol. Maybe I missed it, but where did you get those numbers?

Honestly mate, I would say 200g /m2 or 20g /plant indoors is probably more accurate.

Day 48

So I found some time and tried not to cry too hard while doing it. I so hope it's worth it ....

Edit: (was on phone earlyer) As you can see, I left quite a lot of fanleaf's as I understand them to be the first line of defense in both nutrient overdose and shortage. A few of them on the plant will probably be a good thing. If anybody can persuade me otherwise, they're going off tho.

I also left a few branches on there that I want to use as clones, they will be cut tomorrow, if the plants still look happy. I held off on Benjamin, as she's showing pretty nice budsites all over, and I wanna make sure that my plants like this kind of sadomasicism before I hurt the one looking most promissing :)

The two others are almost a week behind on her I think .. while she was the worst seed (white) and smalles plant throughout the grow ... I feel like I need to take a few clones of her and keep her going .. if that kinda seed produces this sort of plant .. I have a keeper I'd say ..

Thanks for watching, any comments and advice very welcome .. be blunt .. I have issues with 'between the lines' ;)

You took quiet a bit off. You're not going to get too much lower growth anymore, so it's going to be a non- issue. Let them recover now & I think they should fill out.

for sure. Your under screen looks pretty clean I would not worry about it much more but if you do see a little fluff node down there trying to make a comeback you can always pluck it. It will not produce much now. I would not take any more developed growth off that plant. Looks good!

Day 49

So, a day after taking quite a bit off .. had to restrain myself from opening the box to look how they where doing. It seems they took it quite good:

I left a few to-bo-nugs just below the screen .. if they make it up there within a few days, they shall live :morenutes:

Thanks all for watching, and giving me feedback. It is much appreciated. I could not do it without the hints and tips from you all!

:thanks::420:
