Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - Perpetual

nothing short of amazing!!

GKA looks to be very very good.

cant wait to see the final product.

you gonna stick with SLH?

I do intend to keep the SLH until I have had a few more rounds with it. I over-dried it a tad before and I think it could be grown better more tree style. Thing is, I'm currently juggling ten strains and I only bloom six at a time. It'll be a couple months before it goes again, and a couple after that to have finished bud.

I'm actually expecting to start growing for a long time friend. That doubles my opportunity to 12 bloomers and 36 veg and will allow me to do more strains at a time if I want. I may even take on a third grow card, but I will hard pressed to get 18 plants blooming in that room without reducing their size somewhat. We'll see. The third card is still in flux at the moment.

Beautiful Aberration. Great info on previous page about diluting equation to get to a specific PPM target. +rep for that and such a well detailed journal with amazing plants. Nicely done! :high-five:

I'm just trying to remember to document and explain whatever it is I do whenever I think it might be useful. Thanks.

I took down the last two lights in the old bloom room finally. I cut, marked, and drilled the ceiling rails, but I don't have all the pullies I need. Nor do I have the four 8" duct elbows I need. I need a few other items as well. SO I'll have to pick that stuff up and try to get it all hung in the new bloom this week.

I also moved the CO2 system into the new bloom. It's just a temporary setup in there right now. Later I'll be running the gas from outside tanks, but right now I just put the tank in the room with the controller and a regulator and plugged them into the power panel that shuts off with the lights. There is no point in running CO2 in the dark.

I also scrubbed the veg room table. It was clogged with sediment and goo. It's not good enough to eat on, but the water drains quickly now.

your blue dream is always so dreamy when trimmed up. Very nice job yet again, and a very nice haul. Things are looking great as always :bong:

Thanks. You're makin' me blush over here. The Blue Dream almost grows itself. It's the easiest AND the most productive strain I have, and the smoke is pretty nice too. It's hard to imagine getting rid of it at this time.

It doesn't hurt that it produces well either. Even when you don't sell, big hauls are cool.

of course, I'm at the same place with my wonder woman strain. I got lucky with this one pheno and have kept it around since I first started growing, I even flowered my last clone of it and after smoking it, I had to reveg her so I could keep it going.. There's something about that plant, it yields insanely heavy, the top colas when you grow them tree style are thick as a 2L bottle and dense as a rock. It grows really quickly too, nice tight nodes, and has a decent amount of growth during stretch. The high is great too, nice and uplifting, so even though I only grow for personal, it's always great to have a huge stash lying around for those days you just want to smoke all day and be over productive. The shame is I've grown a ton of good genetics so far from a lot of good breeders, and this Nirvana strain is one of the best I've come across so far.

I only ever had blue dream once, and it was just 1/8th I picked up, which consisted of smaller sized buds, but it was very memorable. I remember the first bowl I smoked of it had me feeling like I was on top of the world. Seeing how well you can grow it makes me want to throw on my next order

I worked on moving the 5th and 6th lights into the new bloom. I finished deleting the old temporary wiring job that let them run off this board from a different room (ROMEX extension cord anyone?). I put up the two 2x4 'rails' that the lights will hang from. All the hardware is up and I started the rigging. There is still much to do: finish the rigging, clean the lights, re-duct the lights, hang the lights, finish the duct-work, and hang or rehang a total of 3 inline 6" fans. <whip cracking noise>

it's always a ton of work, but oh so rewarding when you harvest :bong:

you need those breaks to stay sane with this hobby. You ever run any landrace strains in your garden? I just had my first malawi gold break soil this morning. I was very excited, there's something about making a form of life , I'm sure it's nothing like having children, but for the time being, these are the only kids I want around

We had two children 20-odd years ago. They are in college now. I'm old. :D

I haven't tried a landrace yet, but I have a list I want to try somewhere around here.

There are 11 new veg plants from the cloner, freshly transplanted to little pots. Some will do fine. Many are marginal. There just isn't much root after > 4 weeks. I think maybe I'm keeping the clone domes too cold. Everything used to root well in 3 weeks or less. Now I'm lucky if I'm viable at 4 weeks. Hrm.

In any case, there are 4 new Cheese and 7 new Blue Dream, hiding in the shade of the bigger veg plants tonight. They'll get a brighter spot soon.

I prevented wilt issues with L.6A (Lavender) by putting her in a bigger pot. I moved MTP.3D and MTP.3E (Matanuskan Thunderfu@k) to the 9 gallon pots they will bloom in. I'll give them a day before I put them into the HID light.

If you remember back to the end of 2011, I gave a description of the dry box I built. I have decided to dismantle it.

I know, I know. I just built it. I will be rebuilding it - just somewhere else.

I have been thinking about it for a while, and I didn't think it through properly when I sited it in the bloom room. In the past, I didn't have room in the veg space for a dry box, and bloom was the room with better atmospheric controls. Once I got the last one (made of styrofoam) dialed in as far as airflow, it worked great in bloom.

When I went to build this new dry box, I saw a good spot to put it in the bloom room and never thought twice about it.

However, I now have plenty of space for it in veg, the atmospheric control in veg is as good as that in bloom, and it would be a lot less hassle, both to use and to dial in, if I didn't do it in bloom. The need for uninterrupted darkness during lights-out makes going in there problematic at times. The air is much dryer in bloom than I want, making it easy to dry too fast, whereas I can pretty much change the humidity of veg to match whatever the drying bud needs. Plus I could use the space in bloom. Not for plants so much as for room to maneuver and to place other equipment.

I will rebuild using the same design, but in the new veg, so it might be a while. Meanwhile, now that the old bloom is decommissioned I can dry bud in there.

:peace:

I gave away SLH.1B, L.6C, and BD.7H.

I am still getting those last two HPS hoods put up. One is cleaned, reconditioned, re-ducted, sealed, and hung. Except the rigging isn't done, so you can't raise it up yet. The other is cleaned and reconditioned. I am re-ducting and sealing it now. I hope to have the two Matanuskans in bloom tomorrow with the new lights finished and working.

Remember I was talking about taking on another med grow card and maybe two? The first one is about to hit me. I should be fairly ready, plant-wise, to double up bloom. There are some final details to agree upon and it will be on.

That will raise my legal limits to 12 in bloom and 36 in veg. That will make it much easier to maintain my list of strains. I do my best to stay within the legal limits and this will reduce my stress about it.

Needless to say, I'm excited about it myself. :D

Today I got the last two lights in working order in the new bloom room and put the two big Matanuskans into bloom. So there are 6 x 600W in there now. It'll stay that way for a while until I can buy 3 more hoods and ballasts. For now with six lights it is plenty of light for 6 plants and it will be acceptable for 12. Finally.

:peace:

are you still keeping SLH around or are you done with it now?

I love it so much I don't think I'll ever phase it out :)

Newly transplanted clones BD.7E and BD.7G have failed. They died back with blackness on the growth tips and leaf edges. It's been hitting the cuttings in one of the domes and I have lost 6-8 out of the dome directly. I'm sure it's a mold or something similar, and since I sterilized the tray and dome, the issue lies elsewhere.

Remediation plans:
  • a little more light
  • look into sterilizing the sprayer I use
  • look into sterilizing the cuttings
  • re-instate carbon filtration of veg
