Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

I harvested BD.4A and BD.4C tonight. They look great. I have some medium to closeup pics I took before cutting them, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to post them. Delicious.

It looks like BD.4B and BD.4L will come down Saturday. That's 2 days early, but then again 70 days is a bit longer than needed, so 68 days will be just fine.

I'm replacing the above 4 Blue Dream bloomers with a pair of G13 x GodBud and a pair of BigBud x BlueMagoo. I have lots of Blue Dream now, so it's time for some variety. Hopefully soon I am going to order some seeds as well. I need to bone up on sprouting seeds again.

Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

Sounds great! Variety is the spice of life! I love ordering seeds I have a small seed bank myself!

Yes, indeed! I'm excited, but worried I'll kill them getting from just sprouted in a paper towel to successfully rooted and growing in either a coco plug or soil.

Nice to see you.

I found a significant spider mite infestation in veg. I will delay putting G13xGB.3P and G13xGB.3Q into bloom until Sunday, after I have had the chance to hit them with azadirachtin and spinosad 3 times. I hate spider mites.

So until then there will be no changes. Just 2 more feedings like the last one. Plus bug spraying of course.

Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

Gdp? Grand daddy purps??

Yes. New clone line. :D

What problems do you have with sprouting seeds if any?

I've only tried once. I sprouted fine, but I probably transplanted early. Plus I think I made a mistake using the existing hole in the coco plug. I think it left an open area below the root (dry). It's when to move from the paper towel to some medium and how to treat it after that until it is established - that is where I need to do some reading.

:peace:

Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

Also...

I am seriously considering sacrificing two plants to get rid of the spider mites. The two oldest, BD.4B & BD.4L (Blue Dream) are likely getting harvested tomorrow, and I have beat the mites back on that front, but that leaves BD.4G and BD.4K that are 36 days in, but have 34 days to go. That's a long time to battle mites by plucking leaves.

Plus BD.4K decided to lie down. She was horizontal when I found her yesterday, cranked over just under the soil. It's not disease - she was too heavy and went down. I staked her back up, but I think she ripped a lot of roots. I should have staked her sooner. Now she's starting to look a bit droopy, like she's not getting the water I know is in the rootball. Or not enough anyway.

So with one of the last two in ICU and both fighting mites badly, I'm thinking I might down and bag both proactively. That could leave the room empty tomorrow night. I could take a few days to clean and sterilize in there while I continue to spray liquid doom in veg.

I also have been seeing ants lately. I'll be damned if I can figure out where they are coming in, but I sprayed my foundation and around windows and doors and they seem to be dwindling. Maybe I can get everything under control at the same time for a change.

Last, I got the insulation in above the new bloom room. R-38 - woot! But my back feels like I've been sleeping on a pile of sledgehammer heads, especially my lower back. Still, I just need door shims and I can install the door and seal the room.

I have found for sprouting seeds the very best method is jiffy pucks no presoak , none of those fancy coatings like greenhouse uses , no paper towel , Just put the seeds directly into a presoaked peat puck and keep it moist I have had 100% success with this method so I dont waste time presoaking cause really in nature the seeds is designed to sit on top of the soil or just beneath the surface all winter then sprout so how much help do we really need to give them? As far as tranplanting goes as soon as the roots protrude from the sides of the starter puck move it to 1gal pots and then move up from there.

Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

Thanks for the advice, Cateros. Do you think it would work to use a Rapid Rooter plug in a cloning dome?

Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

Well with rapid rooters you always have that opening at the top but if the hole is deep enough I dont see why not I have personally seen plants grow at the spots where me and my friends used to go and smoke and all we ever did was toss seeds into the dirt never worried about covering so I think they prolly would work if you wanted you could sprinkle a small amount of your soil mix into the hole ontop of the seed just to make sure it stays dark at first.
Personally I have always found that the simplest methods work the best.

Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

I place my seeds in a dark warm cabinet at 80-85degrees ,in a paper towel soaked with bottled water until germination happens
IMG_44791.JPG

I then place it in a pre soaked rockwool or jiffy cube -just water NO nutes..I poke the seedling down as low as the pre made hole will allow while being careful to not damage the tap root....then i fluff the top of the cube out, so the seedling is covered and in the dark. place under fluro and keep humid...

Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

Thanks to both of you. I guess I should start those two seeds I've been hoarding.

Yesterday I harvested BD.4B and BD.4L (Blue Dream). Not as much as the last two, but a lb between the two - I'm confident.

Speaking of the last two, I got it back from the trimmers. Looks like near two lb to me. I need to finish weigh, and jar it.

As the for the final two in bloom (BD.4G and BD.4J, both 38 days today), there is too much of this:

20110308Aber-01.jpg

It's a shame too. Look how big they are:

20110308Aber-02.jpg

But I need to rid myself of the spider mites, so I'm going to bag them in the next few days sometime. I'll be fine. I think 2-3 lb will last the two months, don't you? :smokin: Because in two months, a few of these could be harvested:

Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

For the rare close reader who remembers my experiment with a different nute regimen for BD.4G and BD.4J, I have a conclusion. But only on pH. I am convinced the wider range is better if only because it is faster. I am going to continue the experiment by shift all of veg to that pH range. As for the nute recipe, I am convinced only that it produces healthy bloom plants. I need to smoke some bud done that way first before I can fully embrace the nute recipe itself.

One last thing.

I was posting in another form, and a poster made a very lucid and insightful post that was concise and elegant. Then later that evening, he posted again. It was long, rambling and just trailed off into random gibberish. All I could think of was "Dude, what did you smoke?", but it wasn't 420mag, and I couldn't post that there. Too bad. :tokin:

Re: Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - 2009

So I weighed up BD.4A and BD.4C; together they were 656.8g, or a tad over 23oz. However, my old bulbs are showing. If I was a selling man, only 16 oz of it would be considered dank nugs; the other 7 oz is fluffy. Since I'm not a selling man, it doesn't matter except as an intellectual exercise, because it all goes through my 'cano the same. :tokin:
