Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Strains

Great Job Art! Very damn impressed! Your first grow made people who have been growing auto's for years, look like they are greenhorns..:thumb: If you're ever in the Okanagan hit me up & bring some of that sweet candy. In return I'll take you out on horseback and give you tour of everything :) Job well done brotha.:high-five:

I'll bring a bit, but I expect if I trek outside the safety and security of my house, you'll be walking me through a taster of your special strains! See, I'm a bit of a hermit... :)

When you come around my neck of the woods, the sampler menu is on me.

Thanks for the kudos man, one left to go and Brit is getting fat fast. I think Early Miss may be CKS's strongest auto, takes slamming into lights and later lollipopping just fine.

Straight sexy.... It's crazy at 9 weeks she looked ready. How did you know she would keep packing on the weight?

Camera trick really I think. She looked fat in pictures, but in person it was easy to see she needed more time. Calyxes weren't even swollen at all at 9 weeks. Britney got delayed by about three weeks in all, based on how long she'll take to finish she'll go probably 14 weeks total. Not sure if the delay rather than denial is typical of autos or not, but we figured we experiment with less extreme training and see what happens in our second grow.

:bravo: A grow well done

Thanks man, I think we did above average for our tools and skillset. Can't be disappointed by that.

Wow great grow and journal! Can't wait to hear dry weight. Maybe so,e jar pics after all said and done?

Don't even have to ask, I've kept a running total on dry weights and pics of each plant when it makes it into jars. But I will do a final post once Britney finishes and we have all the numbers and all are into curing.

Off to do up my daily journal posts. Later all.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Not much left to do for this grow with only one plant remaining. Britney has taken everything we've thrown at her, including some very late lollipopping, and it's mind boggling to me how quickly she is getting fat. She's got Candi's length with tall northern's fatness. We had to string her up at a higher level as she was already too heavy to support herself.

Anyway, she got another round of full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 866ppm PH'd to 5.7.

In the tent with three of her sisters from our second grow:

Out for feeding, likely her last time out of the tent before harvest:

Her underbits got some extra support as well:

Couldn't help but grab some more pics of Candi and Tall NL's bottom still drying. We'll manicure up NL tomorrow and lose a lot of the stems:

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Brit didn't get moved out of the tent today, I weighed and watered her in place instead. I think we'll pull her out one more time, very carefully, and spend a few minutes building her some better support. Once she starts fattening up she's going to be so incredibly top heavy. Thinking of seeing if I can stuff her into another pot just so she has a bigger base to sit on.

Hmmmm, might work as a swick as well if I seal up the drainage holes.

Next few weeks is going to be interesting with this big girl.

Are you talking about sealing up the drainage holes of the bigger pot and using it as the SWICK? That definately would work. If that's what you mean, instead of taping off why not set a heavy plastic liner inside it?

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Forgot, we also manicured up the bottoms of our tallest Northern Lights and hung them up for another couple days of drying. Stole a bit more than 10g of popcorn for our immediate consumption upstairs. So so far we've got 34g from her and whatever this will weigh when we jar it.

We'll clean up Candi's trim likely tomorrow. Jaybiz has more than enough oil for a quite a while and ounces of trim still in the freezer, so we gotta get on some extraction soon.

Another project, another day.

Yup, you got it. I'll have to look around for available material, but glad to hear you approve of the idea. She's in an airpot, but I've got enough perlite on hand for that not to be a problem.

She's dusty bone dry in 24 hours, the 3 liters it takes to soak her to runoff isn't quite enough to get her through the day, IMHO only of course.

Thinking we'll drop her down to half strength for the next two weeks as well, then flush her for the last 5-7 days.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

IMO, the best time with a SWICK is during the late flowering stage. I leave mine on from the time they bloom, but I don't flush.

Cajun shared with us today that he recommends you raise the lights up another foot for the last two weeks to force trichome development, terpene expression and color without sacrificing finish. I'm assuming he meant finish weight. He works as a professional cultivator, so I tend to listen when he speaks. I thought that might come in handy with you so close to the end with her.

Excellent, then my timing is perfect. Brit deserves as good a finish as I can give her, poor thing.

I read that discussion, Cajun's in one of the first journals I added to my subscription list. I'm not sure I can get my light up another foot, but she's been too close for quite some time, so again I should really look into that tomorrow

As always Sue, your visits are a highlight. How lucky am I to have the reigning, defending, undisputed MOTY reading my journal, right?!

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Hmmm, what happened to the upload photo page? Suddenly I have to select each individual picture one at a time. Not a fan, so much less convenient. Did I miss a notification about this change somewhere? I have uploaded over 2000 pictures now, is there a limit at all or something?

Anyway.

I did end up sticking Brit in her airpot into a 3 gallon pot with a hill of perlite under her and perlite spilled down around her. Was a massive plain in the ass really and I'm not sure I'm getting much more out of it than I would if I just left the perlite out. I'll review my implementation tomorrow. For now it allowed us to dump 5 liters into her rather than the three she was getting before. I'd like to see the top of her not being dusty dry tomorrow night.

  • Brit got 75% strength DNF Bloom A+B and 50% strength calmag+ at 725ppm and 5.7 PH.

After, I know, it's 30 minute later, not a lot of change in that time :) :

I'm happy I finally dropped in to check out your grow and can I say WOW. You grew some incredible crops my man! I'm going to have to go back through and eat up this whole thread.

I noticed the picture upload change and I can't say i'm a fan either

yes yes bruva coming along nicely!!!! One question... do you take of higher fan leaves or are your babies naturally like that?? peace x

Okay - I'm caught up on this magnificent soap opera - First Droopy gets terminal ennui and then just as the light fixture fails Britney is nearly killed in a tragic accident and must be nursed back to health but she triumphs back; all the while her roommates disappear one by one and their lives flash before our eyes just before we see the images of their dismembered remains.

Seriously. I think there's a screenplay here! AWESOME grow RTK!

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Looking lovely as always.... I hope my garden looks like that 1 day. How tall is Brit?

I had to check, I haven't taken a height measurement in weeks. She's 37 inches from dirt to her tallest top, but she's got four others that are over 33 inches. She's been lollipopped the most of any of our first 6, so I'm really hoping she just keeps getting fatter and heavier up top. Her hairs are just about all still plump, white, and sticking straight out, so we're thinking she's got at least another two weeks.

I've seen your garden bud, you're well on your way. In a lot of ways, I just spent my way through to a reasonably good harvest.

Thanks so much Nugwrasslin, I've been a little disappointed with how airy our last couple of chops have turned out, but since it's just for personal use only I'm not sure that matters enough to me to do much about it. Our low end basic two part nutes likely have a lot to do with that, along of course with the early life issues we put them through.

Our second grow is still using the same cheap nutes, but I'm considering picking up some better stuff for their flowering cycle. First grow was to get off other people's weed, the second one is to play and improve.

It's a bit of a long read for sure, being an excited newbie caused me to treat this journal as my system of record, so daily posts are required. :)

Besides Britney getting lollipopped, on this first grow we mostly only pulled off leaves that were dead and empty of anything the plant might have wanted to take from it. There were a few of the very first leaves we took when they were still relatively healthy as they were in the way for watering and/or sitting on the medium.

Other than that, we really only tucked leaves during veg and they've been natural since.

I keep saying they/them, forgetting 5 of 6 are no longer among the living.

I am completely blown away at how impressive Britney is! What a gorgeous plant! I will be paging back to read about your adventures during her formative weeks.

:thumb:

That she lived at all is a minor miracle really. I had her nearly severed main stem one node up from the first three fingered leave node wide open for like 4 or 5 days before we cut off all the wilted stuff and fixed it properly. We always read that if you screw up in veg you end up with tiny flowers as the lifecycle of an auto is so short. Somehow she put that clock on hold while she repaired herself.

We decided to pop another Early Miss for our second grow, not expecting Britney would turn out so well. And the new girl is going crazy and is loving the training I'm doing on her. I'm a little scared of her now honestly, she may crawl up the stairs one night and exact revenge on me for how I treated her sister.

Bahahah

Best laugh of the day, and I had to google a word... "ennui" was new to me, or more accurately I don't remember ever reading it rather than hearing it spoken. +reps for that!

It's going to take quite a while now for this shit-eating grin to disappear! :thanks:

Curing Update!

First Curing Post

Second Curing Post

Today we finally jarred up our tallest Northern Lights girl, harvested in two stages and documented here.

The top we cut off first was jarred on Jan 30 and weighed in at 24 grams. When we manicured her bottoms up a couple nights ago we took 10 grams of lower nugs for quick access in the living room. And finally we jarred up her bottoms tonight and that weighed in at 57 grams. So our final total from this plant is 91 grams, or 3.2oz.

New totals:

Trudy (CKS Candy Cane) final dry weight 45 grams.

Droopy (CKS Northern Lights) final dry weight 23 grams.

Rev (CKS Revolver) final dry weight 88 grams.

Tall NL (CKS Northern Lights) final dry weight 91 grams.

247 grams or 8.7oz, well ahead of our original goal of an ounce or two per plant with one more still left to jar, and one still in her pot.
