Here's my tea I made today. I'm using mung beans the last 2 SST we made. I'm getting more "stuff" from the mung beans I think at least the tea looks like it. Here's a few pics of me making some tea:

There's the goodn's - white gold for organic gardeners

I'm stirring in the mash and lifting the strainer letting the white liquid drip into the water

I added a handful of Kashi - this has lots of beneficial bacteria that will start to grow almost immediately
I'll let this pot sit overnight with the strainer and mash in the water. I wait till tomorrow before lights out to water the laides

This is the Kashi on top of my soil I have cooking ... Always cooking extra soil trying to accumulate enough to go no-till.

Notice the white stuff - that's the mycelium living in a symbiotic relationship with the bacteria introduced by the Kashi. Bacterial growth spurs the growth of the mycelium which is eating up the goodies in the soil breaking down the soil goodness in preparation for plants. This here is LIVING ORGANIC SOIL. This is what makes the ladies grow so well. No need for fertilizers or meters or anything. A little work up front before transplant and all I will need to do is water... amend with ACT and SST.

Next up some bud porn waiting for the sun to make its way into the flowering tent - be back in 10...

Sure thing Rado - Kashi or Bokashi as some folks call it is nothing but leftovers from I think beer brewing, the dregs from the mash dried out outdoors which when laid out to dry outside (think coffee beans), the local micro-organisms that are floating about in the air along with wild naturally occurring yeasts and bacteria will inoculate the kashi (kashi is a fancy Eastern European name for cereal/grains) that was used in the beer making process and is the spent grains left over basically malted barley laid out to air dry. All the local airborne bacteria a yeast will land on the grain mixture and will begin to grow and break down the Kashi. Then the folks that make this stuff dry it with all the goodness package and ship. We get this Kashi mix and what I do is sprinkle it on top of my living soil and pretty much over night is breaks down into beneficial bacteria and mycelium/hyphae that begin the process of turning my soil into super soil I can run no-til for literally years.

Here it is after 24 hrs sprinkled on top of my soil mix

Here it is after 48 hrs working on the soil, you can see the progression. Very fast kashi here today gone tomorrow, no kidding and whats left is going to be working with the cannabis plants. This is basically what you have going on in your back yard I'm just bringing it indoors, nothing special just mother nature doing her thing. I'm just taking advantage of what is already there for ALL of us.

I've got about a month or so to go here - you can see the main cola as wide as my arm already!

Hows the Sleestack Skunk I was gifted those beans but never ran them?

Sleestacks were males, they were easy to grow tho.. ah well.... Replaced with 3 Blue Thai (fems) a Kali-AK (fem) and a Paradise Opium (fem) they are a month behind the Krystalica that probably has another month. Shooting for a June harvest. I have another grow going with Autos - Sweet Black Cream and Sweet Dark Devil all to finish late June.

I was disappointed they were all males!! I had a lot of males this round for some reason. Those Sleestack plants were big and healthy. I'd grow em again but putting that much time/space into growing males for 2 months doesn't do it for me. I suppose I could clone em and run the clones to flower and cull the males but then I'd have to be organized!

Yesterday I came home from work walked in the front door and I could immediately smell the blueberry skunk male I had in another part of the house... yikes he was getting ready to pop some balls. Cut that bastard down and bagged it (no composting for that). My ladies could tell he's ready cause they were all smelling sweet and stronger than usual.

Thanks Doc - they smell like mango with a touch of skunk. Pretty sweet. One of my plants that's in a 4.5gal container - (all the rest are in 7.5gal containers), is starting to finish. She's not drinking as much water and shes starting to burn off her fan leaves and shes got the thickest colas even tho shes a little smaller than the rest. The fan leaves at the btm of the plant are turning gold and loosing all chlorophyll, no spots no veining nothing that would indicate illness just looking a lot like fall colors. Maybe we will be getting some early finished bud, she's way way far a head of the others.

MY auto sweet dark devil she's only about 6" tall, is showing pre-flowers already. That was fast, I think like 18 days from seed to flower!

I'm at 53 days of flower so yea this beats my last grow which went 100 days in flower! Hehe I really milked them last time.

Looong weekend coming I don't have to work until Tuesday so tomorrow more pics of the flowers and the young ones for next round. I'm going for a harvest every month or so and trying out some different strains to get some variation of flavor/meds. I'll see If I can find something I really cant go without!

I'm really loving your garden Brother Bo! I tried the coconut water and it actually made my Kali #8 that I burned with Seabird Guano perk up. The leaves that were turning crispy are now all viable and reaching for the light! Thanks so much for the tips my friend. I went to Fred Meyer (local grocery store) and couldn't find Mung beans. Where have you found the most cost effective quality beans?

Thanks Rado they are starting to smell REAL tasty - +1 on the Indian grocery store - we actually bought ours at an Asian grocery store. It's a staple in the Asian cuisine also a staple for Vegan Diet as well. Not that I'm vegan but I used to be... ate enough sprouts for a lifetime. Now that I'm growing sprouts for the ladies I keep finding some on my dinners.... hmmmm.

I should have thought of that but my brain is on overload with my work schedule I ended up ordering 8 lbs from amazon for 40 bucks shipped. The brand is Jiva - Jiva USDA Organic Whole Moong (Mung) Beans. Looking forward to making my first SST!

Ok the fun part of the grow; at least for me, is here.

Bud porn!! Woohoo the sweet smell of success, I'm coming down the back stretch and the ladies are looking fantastic. I had to steak up one plant the buds were falling over - that's always a good problem to have. These girls are not as dense as the last grow but they were in flower for 100 days yikes. This is day 54 I think.

Just hangin in the grow room soaking up the late afternoon sun with the ladies

Here we go.. bud forecast is Frosty with a coating of resin late in the day followed by more frost in the morning

This one is for SS - here's the Sweet Dark Devil auto - day 25 I think just about ready to flower going 20/4

in the tent - hard to see with all that LED lighting but hey too heavy to move these!

this is the lady that wants to finish early I think due to smaller pot (5gal) notice some yellowing she may or IS rootbound I bet 100%. Future grows will be in the 7-10gal pots. I'm moving in that direction but building enough soil takes time.

Keep it green everybody!!

The flower room smells absolutely amazing, a danky pine with a strong overwhelming smell of mango, pungently sweet. But its changing very quickly day to day stronger and sweeter going less and less dank to sweeter and sweeter. Gonna have to keep an eye out for mold - the buds are VERY sticky and dense/wet with resins. Overall I'm getting happier with this strain as the finishing time is more realistic I'm gonna bet 70-75 days (hopefully), the one finishing probably 60-65 days.

Nice Doc very nice. I found the mung beans to be the easiest and shortest time to sprout and be sure to mix with lots of water the PH will be low too I usually throw a few tbs of calcium carbonate in with the finished tea just to keep things in order. I didn't used to do that but I watered some little girls in smaller pots and almost burned their little bums off. The big girls no problems but I still add a little calcium for good measure, it buffers the change in ph. I don't use a meter but I know the mix will be pretty acidic say in the 4-4.5 range. If you soil doesn't have enough calcium added you "might" have an issue.. I haven't but the "ounce of prevention" thing I go with it. Extra calcium cant hurt. I've got worms in all the pots so I don't want to hurt the little guys either.

I'll be checking out those mung beans you bought - me likey organic beans.

Maybe that's a good reason for me to start using them. I pass a number of such markets every day when he's in the hospital.

Dale and I were talking today about running a dedicated circuit for the tent. I start adding in more LED panels and it becomes a necessity. How things change.

Dedicated circuit - that would depend on what all you have connected to the circuit that you use for your lighting. I've got my lamps on a circuit that just feeds the flowering room. I'm monitoring my wattage use - 3 lamps 2 450w and 1 900w all together draw is 1180w which is a little short of 10amps. So for a 15amp service I probably have room for 1 more light which I won't be adding as I've got enough light for a 4'x8' grow tent. I could always add side lighting which might be nice like you're doing with the CFL's.

I did blow open my circuit at the mains panel but that was due to a faulty surge protector. I plug all my lamps and fans into surge protectors. When the timer switches on & off the power, 10 amp draw there is a pretty good surge at lights on. Enough to beat up even a very good power strip/surge protector. The power strip/surge protector is the first line of protection and we all should have a good one. I know of several folks that have had them burn out. Always happens at the worst time too say when you don't get a chance to check your ladies shortly after lights on and come home 8 hrs later and lights never came on....

If you're not sure you about your house circuit you can turn on ALL the lights in the apartment/house and then go start the toaster oven and see if that trips a fuse. If not yer most likely in good shape.

Post strip/ surge protector strips ARE the weakest link, which is why I don't use them for a grow room.
If your 10 amp (steady) load trips a 15 amp (surge) circuit breaker, then I would consider a surge suppressing circuit breaker.

You can check with actual electricians on the electrical forums, but in my opinion, power strips and surge suppressors are a bad idea inside grow rooms.

My load didn't trip the breaker the power strip was old and worn out. The surge protector shorted internally similar to circuit breakers do, which is what tripped the circuit. I think the power strip was like 20 years old. Surge suppressors, IMHO are a decent first line of defense.
Circuit breakers wear out, same as surge protectors, doesn't mean they are unsafe.

The timers we use to turn on the lights at a given time take the same beating as the power strip and it's safer to have an organized way to wire up you lamps, fans etc. Power strip WITH surge protection 15amp protection on a 15amp circuit will work fine. Just look for the "UL" rating on the back of the surge protection device.

Dark Devil Auto today day 33 ( i think) :

Female bits on the Kali-AK just going into flower 7th node. Little white pistols at the node branch..that's what the ladies are supposed to look like after a few days of 12/12 soon there will be flowers and skanky smells. I think the sweet smells of mango are already being covered / intermingled with some skunky smells from the next round just getting going in flower.

So It's Kali-AK and 2x Blue Thai in flower for the next round and they are about 35 days behind the current ladies. Oh and the Dark Devil Auto in at 33 days from seed; she's flowering already Look up ^^

Just one of the Krystalica ladies is getting ready to finish. She's stopped uptake of water and her fan leaves are changing colors... more and more still no orange pistols tho... and she's putting out more white pistols. She's in a smaller pot than the others and I think shes rootbound... should I transplant at ~55 days, or just let her finish early... OMG I'm over thinking again... Should I ????? transplant???
OR let her finish early so I have some early buds to bong about with! Let's go smoke on it!
