Doctor Dread
Nug of the Month: 3rd Place Winner
Greetings 420 guys and gals! I'm starting my new project and I cant help but make a journal to document it. I have a 10gal, six plant DWC setup in my closet. I will be using my 400w HPS the entire grow. I'm growing bagseed, as always. I do not have the means to order seeds or buy clones locally, so I will be making do with what I have, which are six seeds from various bags of dank.
I germinated six seeds altogether. I placed them into a glass of water and as they cracked, I planted them in rockwool cubes. Once in the cubes, I placed them on a heating mat and they were above the cubes in a day or two. Then it was into the system!
This brings us to the next item: Nutrients. I am using FoxFarm nutes. Grow Big Hydro, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom. I will also be using Open Sesame, Beastie Blooms, and Cha Ching once I begin the flowering cycle. I am following FF's hydro schedule and will see how that goes. I also use Hygrozyme for root health, and will be using Floralicious Plus once they have gained some size. I use a TDS and PH meter to check water quality daily.
My first attempt at hydroponic growing ended in all male plants. I had some soil plants growing at the time and was not prepared to handle both mediums, so I gave up on hydro. I now have the instruments and nutrients required to be succesful at hydro so it's time I said goodbye to dirt.
My system is just a basic 10 gallon DWC tub. I first gave the tub a few coats of black spray paint to block any light. I also put duct tape on the lid for the same reason. It has two 5'' airstones on the bottom of the res to oxygenate the solution. I bought the best dual output pump the hydro store had, and it was well worth it. The amount of air this thing cranks out is insane! All six plants have roots in the solution already. I am using my 150w HPS until they gain a few nodes, then it will be time to fire up the 400w!
Right now I'm running a ppm around 600 and a ph of 5.8.
I always wanted one of these...
Questions and comments are always encouraged!!
