no updates today....the girls are looking good since the res change the other day.
so...right now i am trying to plan the light set up for the new cabinet... i am leaning towards 2 - 600w HIDs in some sort of air cooled set up. not sure if just cool tubes would work or if i need to get two hoods like the xtrasun hood i am using in my current cabinet.... this set up will be one big screen of green. so i should not need to adjust the light height.
i am searching for a light hood test i read a while back that showed the light output of all different light hoods... if anyone can help me find it please post up a link.... thanks..

I've recently started using a cool-tube with a 400w hps. Great results. I'm dealing with a cabinet with pretty severe height constraints. The cool-tube has about 1/3 the footprint and the surface temp is never beyond 78f. I'm using 160 cfm fan to pull air through the tube.

day 46
i just topped off the res with another couple of gal on RO water. i have noticed that my plants are developing some spot on the leaves ( i suspect it is calcium deficiency). so i went down and got some Cal-Mag plus. i added 140ml to my res. i will keep a close eye on it for the next couple of days.
i also built a quick/cheep fan box to help quiet the in line fan down some. i took a Rubbermaid tub, cut out (2) 6 inch holes, installed the fan and ducts, then filled the tub with packing peanuts that i picked up from the local office supply store, then slapped on the lid. i will post up pics as soon as my digital camera battery is finished charging.
i also started germinating two seeds today. one Dinafem California hash plant and one Dinafem sweet deep grapefruit. i got these free with my easyryder seed order. these will be ready as soon as these easyryder are finished and will be grown in this same cabinet and will be my experiment for SCRoG and cloning. i figure "what the hell? it wont cost me nothing but time"

update: day 47
added 3 gallons of PHed RO water to the res. there is new root growth visible since adding the Cal-mag yesterday. and there is a very noticeable increase in the amount of stink coming off these plants. i am running out of room in this cabinet now for sure. i have to slightly open the front doors so the lights mounted to the door wont get to close and burn the plants. this doesn't help with controlling the smell but the carbon filter and my DIY "toadstool" are helping.
so... onto the bud porn.....
and one of my largest buds... already at over 9 inches long....
and this is one of the buds that got too close to the light before i raised the light up....

added 5 gallons of PH-ed RO water this morning. i am adding frozen water in gatorade bottles to the res a couple of times per day to keep the res temps down. this along with the cal-mag i added the other day have made improvements in the bud development. new root growth and the buds are packing on even more weight now. i am finding some dead leafs between the plants. so i remove the near dead leafs (only ones that are about 75% dead) and i have now had to screw the net pots down to the res lid to keep the plants from tipping over. these plants should be ready to come down around Dec 9th maybe even longer... it will depend on the plants to tell me when they are ready.

How big is your system? My entire unit only operates with 6 gallons, so it is really temp sensitive. Being a home-brewer, I've become adept at keeping vats liquids at specific temperatures, but through ignorance, ran my whole first week at about a 74ºF res temp, luckily I didn't fall into too many issues.

some root shots i just took....
i am wondering why they are leaning over like they are.... and the leaves are curled.... they have been like this from day one.... do you think i over did the ferts? i am a total new guy.. i check on them every hour or so... just like a dad with newborns.... i added about a gal of just water.... if they don't recover I'm draining and adding just water to flush it and start the ferts over but more diluted...unless some one has an idea of what's going on... i going to do more research..... thanks for you input.
Rock Wool, huh. I see a pattern here. See my pic showing 3 plant roots. The 2 on the left are RW, the one on the far right is in S2G. RW is problematic. It holds too much moisture

i have been reading your stuff... i would change the light schedule BUT the breeder recommends a strict 20/4 schedule for the duration of the grow... these are autos and i do not want to hurt yield. i think the high pressure set up is very cool.... thanks for the heads up.
