AMENDMENTS READY TO GO UPDATE

Good Monday everyone! On this rainy day it's "gather the amendments time." And laundry since I'm a chronic, wait until there's no more clean before I do it guy. Today's the day. So for the 44 gallons of soil (one barrell) this is what goes in every time. It's amazing to be part of the process really. I can hardly pick the tray up to get it to dump over the used soil and I have to replace it every time! Mind blowing for the simple man I am. Anyway here's the piles and an easier to read list of components. With any luck tomorrow I'll get it all mixed. The pelletized lime is at 12:00. I worked counter clockwise through the list ending in the middle. Last 3 and first 2 are to come.
Happy holiday if you're in the states! :peacetwo::love::woohoo:

That looks lovely. Awesome pile of goodness.

Looks like a curry mix for cannabis customers eager to have good food.

:green_heart:

Hey Otter, something I've been wondering for a while is whether ingredients are ethically and sustainably sourced. My soil has some of these ingredients so I've been pondering this question. I imagine there is quite a high demand for these substances in the industry and possibly very little regulation. Do you or anyone here know anything about regulation and the ecological effects of harvesting some of the amendments?

A smorgasbord of delight for microbial snacking!

Hi Carmen. These are not necessarily. When I was starting out I picked a book with a recipe that included reusing spent soil. The Rev's True Living Organics was the one I seemed to understand a little so I went with it. I hear a lot of that talk over at Build a Soil, I don't know why they aren't a sponsor here. Sustainability is important. One day I'll drift over to it. Rev has a new book coming. I suspect he may be including that aspect? I'm waiting for that before I make any major moves. When this stuff is mixed up properly it makes them grow like crazy! I'm not really in a hurry to change things. At the same time I don't want to be a menace to the earth so, we'll see.

Oh sorry Otter, I didn't mean to imply that you or anyone were doing anything bad. I just wondered if sustainability was part of the conversation anywhere in organics circles, and whether you might know about it. I am also growing in a complete organic soil using the same ingredients you are using, and I just wonder how some of the stuff is harvested, like guano for instance. No worries.

That's the reality of it Carmen. Like I mentioned, Build a Soil's website should cover a lot of what you're talking about. I can't remember anyone here going that route. I've planned to use up my stash, though it's huge, I panic bought at the beginning of covid, then move on to components more friendly for all.

Highya SO,

Quite the collection of cannabis nutrients! Good work getting all the ingredients together. I think this rain will do some good for your candida ladies. Hope there's no damage. I need to tie up some more branches so they won't break. Hope you're having a nice day!! Happy Smokin'

They're loving it Bode! It's been so long my trees are falling over. We had to cut our way out of the yard the other day with the chainsaw. It's been steadily raining for a day now! YAY!
I need to get my second one trussed too. Hoping for heavy:cheesygrinsmiley:

SOIL MIXED READY TO COOK UPDATE

Good day all! I did it again! I got through a mixing session without the Mrs seeing the laundry desecration! Whew! It went well and I'm happy to have added new things like malted barley and insect frass to the mix. The pile filled up the 44 gallon barrel plus a partial tub, around 50 gallons of the best smelling future cannabis soil I can imagine! it'll sit and cook/compost for a month in the basement off the floor to keep warm. That was an added benefit to getting the wheel setup for the barrels beside ease of motion.

Edit: Water!
I look for a consistency that when a handful is squeezed, it should fall apart but in clumps. Just wet enough. This batch went with 4 gallons of ro water.

Here it heaps.
As I sit and relax now, the area is like I was never there. Happy Wife Happy Life! Have a great day!

If I have my way she will never witness it Tim! She knows I'm doing it as I ask if the laundry is open for my soil mixing. Long as it's cleaner when I walk away, things are good!
I would get to do that ONE time! :laughtwo:
It's not for everyone. But it pays off later when there's little worry and almost nothing to add. And it's not expensive.
Not only is that a great looking mix, but I love how you tucked the tarp in the washer and dryer doors and are repping the Magical Butter machine too!
Hey Shed! Gotta make the surroundings work for us! I can't wait to fire the MBM up with the Candida!

Fantastic :yahoo: can't wait to see it in action. :thumb:
Do you wet it?
I throw a little B1 in a spray bottle and mist it before I mix it in.;)
If I spread that tarp out in the house I'd be single.
Take care my friend. :ciao:

Stay safe

I'm glad you asked! Just came back to add that. Thanks !

Vitamin? Go on👂🦻I'm all ears!
It's a mix depending on what I'm doing.
B1 / superthrive / roots excelurator gold.
Just activating microbes in soil or coco 5 % B1 in a spray bottle to activate everything right away.
Gets the microbes and fungi life instantly, then mixed into the soil it's like rocket fuel.
Gets all fuzzy. :yahoo:
It'll help feed her the nutrients .
I can find you a few pictorials if you like. ;)

Stay safe

Well took me a few to catch up, but I finally did. I don’t know what’s sexier, the harvests or the soil! You are amazing. Great work, great harvests.

Highya SO,

I agree. Great job! Should rival a nuclear fertilizer! I think Bill is talking about microbes. Don't you put the microbes in soil when you plant, SO? I use a microbe solution myself. Must keep wifey happy! I'm the same way. What are you going to grow next? Happy Smokin'
