Shadowmoses 1st Grow - Northern Lights - Short Rider - Autoflower - LED - Soil - 2015

Re: Shadowmoses 1st Grow - Northern Lights - Short Rider - Autoflower - LED - Soil -

Looks super nice:thumb:

I think you have some time to go before you need to start the two week flush, those buds look like they'll get alot fatter in the next couple of weeks.

Look at the trichomes under a microscope/magnifying glass x60+ and see the colours on them clear/cloudy/amber and then chop when you're in the zone of the kinda high you like, 50/50 clear/cloudy for a very head orientated euphoric high and 100% amber for the ultimate couch lock body stone.
Of course the strain affects the high but it's a nice rule of thumb:)

You probably wanna go somewhere in between, I like it the most in the 25+ amber trimcomes area - if I want a head high or get some cleaning done, I'll just buy some sativa;)

Just caught up with your journal! I'm gonna stay till the end now.

I can't help you with that defficiency of yours, as I've never seen it before. You're using bloom nutes on a higher dosage now right? I was going to say P defficiency but that isn't possible, the leaves are not getting yellow on the tips.

I've looked at some deficiency photos and it sure looks more like a Magnesium Def (or both Calcium and Mag)

Let some more input come so you're sure what it needs

Good luck

Day 48 Short Rider - Day 46 Northern Lights
Hello 420 family, time for an update.

Northern Lights #2 has been a little sad as of late. I do believe I have nailed down the problem to being a PH issue. The run off on all the girls has been extremely low (around 5.6 ish). For whatever reason NL #2 felt the effects of this harder than the other two. Today I flushed them hard with PH 7 and up water till the runoff was about 6.3 to 6.5. It was a long process of putting 6 or so gallons through each one, but I think it will pay off in the end. After I flushed them into an acceptable range, I went ahead and fed them with week 7 flower schedule for Fox Farms Trio. I am hoping this fixes my issue and pulls us through harvest.

On a side note NL #1 has really been packing on the bud and is pretty far ahead of the other two. Not sure why she decided to push hard through the PH issues, but her buds have been filling in quite nicely. Short Rider wasn't affected too hard by the PH issue either but hasn't put on nearly as much bud as NL #1. It looks like NL #1 will be harvested 2 weeks or so before the others.

Hope you all enjoy the update.

Thanks Purple, will do. I did get one of those 60-100 hand held microscopes so I will be checking shortly. If I can only keep my hands steady enough to see hahaha. Some of the hairs are starting to turn orange on NL1, I think the other two will be awhile before I have to check though.

Awesome, glad you are here Groovy! Yeah, I was having a hard time reading the chart as well. I thought Cal-Mag as well because it really doesn't look like anything else. However, I think since the PH runoff was so low that is my issue. Hopefully, the work I did today (flushing and all) will solve my problem. I would hate to get this far to see it all turn to poop lol.
:welcome:

Re: Shadowmoses 1st Grow - Northern Lights - Short Rider - Autoflower - LED - Soil -

When in doubt, flush. I feel you on that flush, 6 gallons to each plant would wear me out.

It's probably a calcium problem related to PH. But, you caught it early and will be ok. I have had some plants look 10 times worse that made it to harvest and smoked good. At least no one that tried it turned it down :)

Yeah that was pretty brutal. 18 gallons in all whew. I did get it under control though. Fed the girls today and the runoff was spot on so it has seemed to pay off.

I wanna camp out in your grow tent lol
Haha, you are welcome to it. It will be kind of cramped though with you, me, and the plants though :) .

Update coming shortly!

Day 51 Short Rider - Day 49 Northern Lights
Update time 420 family.

It seems the flush got my PH issue under control. I fed the girls today and the runoff for all the girls are great. Hopefully they can repair any damage that has been done by nutrient lockout.

Looking at NL #1, I think she is ready to be flushed for 2 weeks and then harvested. Please let me know what you think from the pictures. I know I don't have and trichome shot but just based on the hair turning amber I think I am close.

Short Rider is still looking great and packing on some bud. She probably has a while before harvest.

Northern Lights #2 on the other hand is starting to concern me. Her buds are very wispy and hasn't really be bud building. Not sure if she is going to. She make just have a lot of thin wispy buds by the end. Any thoughts on this or has anyone seen this kind of issue before? Possible causes?

Hope you all enjoy the update.

Re: Shadowmoses 1st Grow - Northern Lights - Short Rider - Autoflower - LED - Soil -

Imo I'd say start flushing and in 2 weeks time if you want her go for a few days longer just let her go. A couple of extra days with just water past the two weeks flush wont do her any harm anyways ;):goodjob: give yourself a pat on the back they look like beautiful plants man

Re: Shadowmoses 1st Grow - Northern Lights - Short Rider - Autoflower - LED - Soil -

My NL went 85 days before the chop with only around 10% amber if that helps when to start the flush?Mine also had bad troubles with low ph issues in canna terra pro mix which I couldn't flush out so glad you could and the buds seemed to stack on weight pretty late in the grow. Nice looking grow

Thanks Spart. Sounds like a good idea to me. The other two look like they will be going for a while though.

Yeah the PH issues with Terra are surprising to me. Thought it was supposed to be good soil. Thanks for the input Todd. I am not sure why NL 1 looks like she will finish so early, the other NL looks like it will take about that long. Not sure about the short rider yet. Probably sooner than the NL #2 though. Buds are already fattening up on her.

Re: Shadowmoses 1st Grow - Northern Lights - Short Rider - Autoflower - LED - Soil -

I'm fixing chop one at 15 on ambers . But I need something take the pstd down some. Works well on that

Re: Shadowmoses 1st Grow - Northern Lights - Short Rider - Autoflower - LED - Soil -

Autoflowers are a curious bunch I've had some that took 8 weeks while others from the same strain even the same pack of seeds that took 10-12 I'm starting to think that it all depends on many different out comes.

Yeah they certainly seem to be. Same with this batch. Both the NL came together and have the exact same growing environment, yet one looks like it will be ready in 60 or so days and the other who knows at this point lol. Thanks for sharing your experience :) .

Day 56 Short Rider - Day 54 Northern Lights
Hello all, been awhile since I have done and update.

The girls have been doing pretty good up until today. You go without cal-mag for once and you can see deficiencies with Short Rider. Looks to be a Mag deficiency. She will be okay though, going to give them all a feeding tonight and will definitely be adding some Cal-Mag.

I also did some defol on NL2 and SR underneath. If this wasn't my first grow I would have considered pulling NL#2 because of all the wispy buds. She does seem like she is starting to beef up though, so hopefully it is not going to be too bad.

Other than that NL#1's buds are looking fabulous. I pulled out the microscope and pretty much all her and Short Rider have cloudy trichomes. Not sure how long till they start turning amber. I was going to harvest before I went away this weekend, but I think I will wait until I get back and possible do NL #1 Monday or Tuesday. What do you all think?

Well here are some pics of the girls, got some nice bud porn in there :) .

Looking good man:thumb: seems to be still producing pistols so I recon at least wait till you get back.My NL didn't start to show amber until most of the pistol growth had stopped

Thanks Todd. That is some really good info. +Rep :)
