1st Ever Grow, LED, White Widow Auto

If the full spectrum LED strip is extra then it will definetely help! extra light is always good! Although I prefer LED because LED lights are not so hot as the other light sorts like HPS or Metal Halide. I'm not even close to being someone who is specialised in growing Cannabis. I'm also still not yet done with my first grow and so far everything worked out almost perfect!

I like the low energy consumption and cool operation of led. I feel like my grow is slow moving. so more light should be goodm

You should be able to acquire these at one of the bigger box DIY stores. If thats not doable I'm positive you can get them online. String em up to and extension cord as I said and dangle them from the top of the tent or fix them to some kinda homemade pedestal from the ground (essentially making a homemade lamp if you will) or attach them to the pot's rim. Like i said be creative and there can be endless applications.

You can do all kinds of different things with lamps and strips! For example, a LED light strip provides more light but you can also make it look nice and fancy!

You shouldn't top autos!! Instead try LST. That way no stunting her growth. And you will get a bigger girl that LST makes it have a bunch of budsites with no lost time for her to heal. I don't really like autos BC they have less THC from being cut with ruderalis. I prefer photo beans that are female. Or regular beans BC they aren't genetically fucked with so they are stronger than any bean out there. But autos are great for putting outside during summer and having a mid summer harvest. For all my indoor projects only photo beans. My lights come on at night to conserve electric. And I only gotta run them 12 hours a day. With a 1000 watt and 250 watt HPS and 300 watt LED a bunch of CFL and fans air pumps, EVERYTHING adds up so I just like to save on my electric that way. Plus it's colder at night so you don't gotta run a heater. I have the heaters come on 45 min then 45 mins off. And my temps and RH are perfect for flowering. On your next auto try some LST to see if she gets bigger than this one I bet since she won't have to heal from top cut that she will be just a lil bit bigger.

It is safe to top your auto's just make sure you do it early enough. Like I said I'm not a experienced grower but I do definetly know that you can in fact top your autoflower. I've done that too and no problems with it anyway. So I've learned it from Pigeons420, now known here on 420magazine as Rex Pigeons. But he is still Pigeons 420 on youtube. But he is a 3 year experienced medical grower and I did learn it from him. I don't know if all autoflower strains react the same on it though...

I am going to LST without topping for this grow. I am only 5 days since sprout so I have time. :) Many thanks for the feedback.

You can top them it's just that the internal clock keeps ticking on autos so if topped and has to heal there goes a week of veg from her which could equal a lot of smoke gone. LST is definitely the best way but I have heard topping northern lights autos are OK BC how much they grow. But like I said I am a photo bean guy I just don't like the ruderalis in autos taking away from the THC.

Hey man! I feel pretty confident with topping as off so far I have seen and experienced great results. So much down to genetics I guess. I do grow autos for the exact reason that you don't hehe I am looking for high CBD, low thc easy to grow and quick turnaround. HPS is a complete waste of money and imo only reason you would go for HPS is quantity over quality and thereby I guess that the motive of growing is selling. Not been very impressed with cfls more than for vegging.
I did not experience any stunted growth when I topped one of mine, it was still the strongest and best producing out of 6 plants.

Id say not much really happens until day 20ish as the plant is usually growing width until pre-flowering then shoots up vertically.

That's pretty funny because my plant is a Northern Light autoflower! And that guy where I learned it from also did it to a Northern Light autoflower. So maybe I missed something that he said about other auto's but thanks anyway!

I had one plant that grew crazy and by day 20 was about 3 nodes taller than the others:

420-magazine-mobile1316604523.jpg

So I did some research here on the forums and found threads with people topping at 3rd or 4th node (they did the chop much earlier than i did though) and since I had no alternative. LST would not have been an option at that point, if I would have done it sooner maybe but I would still have faced space issues in the tent hehe.

So I did the cut to even out the canopy:

Same plant with 2 weeks of difference:

Haha I feel like I am walking in the dark with sunglasses and headphones to be honest. Just trying things out as I go, I love this way of changing ideas and experiences with people on 420 Magazine. Everyone has been extremely helpful and none of the flaming and shaming that usually goes on in social media nowadays. :) I come from a background as artesan baker where the approach to the dough is very similar to growing weed. You give TLC and thy will receive it back! I'd love to retire in a french village spending my day baking bread and growing weed! Haha

With the current breeding advancements made you indeed can achieve comparable THC levels to what you would get with photos. Autos can be topped if you take care when doing it and if you do you can actually increase the yield. The proof is out there, its up to you to find it and discern fact from fiction.

Your crazy if you think HPS is a waste of money. I have been growing since 98. I have done out doors I have done indoors. I have mixed LED with HPS and HPS by itself. But nothing compares to the dense high quality of meds you get from HPS super-lux bulb the spectrum is better than LED. But you can think what you want but you might want to do some reading first. Check out grow weed easy . Com or anything written by anyone worth while Ed Rosenthal, Robert Bergman, Ryan Riley. Just to name a few of the best growers of our lifetime will all agree. But hey more power to you. And no I don't sell my meds I like high quality meds and dense nugs. I will compare yeilds and quality anytime you would like to.

Hey nugz :) I am definitely no expert on the subject and I am sure there are HPS that has great output in both spectrum and quality final product if used correctly as with everything. When it comes down to efficiency though, from what i have read there is currently only one type of light that outperform LED and that's LEP. If a 1000w hps got a max value of 35% convertible power into photosynthesis then it would naturally make more sense to use a 400w LED and get the same turnaround. It's an interesting subject and I am happy to learn more on the topic, thanks for your feedback mate!

Peace!

Day 6, only 1 seedling thrived. 2 seeds germinating and will be potted in the next 2 days. Seems like the seedling is growing slow as molasses, but I know it's just working on its roots, hoping to see some growth spurts soon. thinking I need to drill some more drain holes in my pots. Also think it may be ready for its first water soon? I want to be proactive, not reactive. but I know being over eager with these will cause more problems. ohhh man... *twiddles thumbs*

I use as thumbrule 50ml of H20 until day 14 where I use 150ml. The idea is that from watering to watering it should pass 3.5 days and the soil should not stick to your finger when you dig down below the superficial soil.

This is the chart I've used for my last batch if you wanna take a look:
