GlimmerGrass's Maiden Grow - Crop King Seeds' Early Miss Auto Fem in Coir - 2015

Thanks, Henry! They smell fantastic! I can't stop sniffing my hands :)

I forgot to mention, but yesterday was 10 weeks/70 days above ground. They've been showing pistils since late September (about September 25, I think) so around 6 weeks of flowering. The strain is Early Miss, Crop King Seeds' name for a Big Bud x White Widow cross, and CKS says it'll be 7 weeks in flower.

That would put us late next week. We'll see -- I'm in no rush. I want them to be beautifully ripe. I think my digital microscope is in the mail today, so I will be able to post TRICHOME PORN :)

Okay, here's my first attempts:

I'm using a generic Chinese digital microscope, Neewer USB 2.0 Digital Microscope 1.3 Mega Pixel Video Camera 10X To 200X It isn't marketed for Macs but does actually plug and play through Photo Booth. Cost about $20.

It's a bitch to focus so I found myself having to trim a small bud and then use the stand to get any kind of photo.

I think what I'm seeing is a lot of clear still :) It's fascinating to see the different kinds of trichomes -- the tiny sparkly ones, the cystolith hairs without heads, the capitate stalked ones that we watch for signs of ripeness.

Good morning!

During my reverential communing with the girls this morning, I noticed that there's some heat burn on the tops of some of the higher colas (maybe 4 of them)-- so I removed the SWICK, lowered the plants and got more space between the lights and the plant. Hope this takes care of it!

Here's a top down photo of one of the affected colas -- some of the leaves were super crispy, in fact. This one doesn't look too bad ...

This one shows the damage on another cola's leaves better:

And here's another bud, actually looking not too bad.

Should I trim off the damaged leaves?

see, and I thought with autos, the round about weeks they advertise, was seed to harvest?

im still learning.

and BTW, good job, they look great!

Thanks, Brewer! I thought that, too, at first (it's one reason why my grow extended over my business trip) but it became clear that there would be 3-4 weeks of veg time before the listed time started :)

So I guess, for indicas at least, autos aren't that much faster than photoperiod plants. For sativas I suppose you would save some time though. What I most like about autos (and this is my only grow :)) is that I don't have to worry about strict periods of light and dark.

Time constraints are forcing me to harvest my auto fast and vast plants at 85 days (breeder claimed 63 days) and I'm thinking they should probably have gone another 2 weeks. I've just started a second grow of autos but will probably go with some photos after this. With similar seed to harvest time & burning lights 18-20 hrs rather than 12 for most of the grow for photos, I just don't recognize the advantage. But being an FNG, perhaps I'm missing something.
