I have just begun my very first grow. I bought 20 feminized White Widow seeds from Dutch Passion. And since I am an absolute newbie, I did not know how to create an actual grow room, so I bought 2 grow cabinets that I just finished putting together. I also bought a DVD recommended by High Times called Jorge Cervantes' Ultimate Grow (Step By Step Instructions for Beginners). It called for me to put the seeds in water to germinate them in 2 to 7 days. I followed this to the letter, but since I live in a VERY old house, regulating the indoor tempeture is close to impossible. So the water containing the seeds went from warm to cool...back and forth. By the 6th day there was no change whatsoever in the seeds. Then a friend of mine told me to place them in a wet paper towel, put the towel in an empty egg carton, and keep it someplace warm. I did this and within 2 days I had tap roots about 3/8 of an inch long. So I am guessing that I didn't screw them up.
Today I planted them in 8 starter cups I got from the local (and ONLY) store that deals with gardening. The cups state that when they are ready to begin vegetation, that I can simply place the cups in the soil and the roots will force their way thru and into the soil. Now the ONLY potting soil they carry is Miracle Grow which says it has a fertilizer in it that feeds for 3 months. I hope this will be alright So now...I guess it's waiting time. I am a little concerned about the lighting. There are 8 fluorescent lights 4 feet long in each corner of the cab. It is my understanding that the plants reach toward the light. And other pics I have seen have the lights directly over the plants. I hope this way works...guess time will tell. I am enclosing some pics of the cabs and the starter cups containing the seeds. Since I have NO idea of how to include the pics in this thread...you may find them by looking in the members gallary under grandpastoner. And I am leaving the lights on during this period for 18 hours.
