High Pressure Areo, Galaxy Hydro 600W LED, WW, GC, BB, 2016

yep i was at the shop today eyeballing the buckets...making plans for the future eh.

good info and advice ..I will pondering this today as I go look at buckets . So many ways to grow lol .

And for the first time now that I know where the button is +reps !!!

Good stuff ! Well some bucket advice . I originally went with 5 gal because I did not know what to expect from the root zone in this system . Now that I am in the last 1/3 of this grow . I would do 2.5 -3 , 3.5 gallon buckets .. I lean slightly to the 3-3.5 gallon buckets because they have roughly a 12 " diameter compared to a 10" on the 2.5. With this type of system it's all about the surface area of the root mass . Right now my root mass is about 1-1.5 " thick on the bottom of these 5 gallon buckets with a beautiful fish bone structure .

So why a smaller bucket ? Well mainly due to the height of the bucket. When you grow in a tent and extra 4-6 inches is a lot during flower . So to roughly sum it up I am extremely confident that I could achieve the same results in a shorter bucket. A shorter bucket isn't going to affect how tall your plant can grow but would give you the ability to veg a little longer or not stress about head room during stretch /flowering.

My Aeroflow20's grow chambers are 4"x4" and I grew 5 footers in that with root masses filling the chamber traveling down 2 + feet .lol

Hope this helps you in your design .

thats exactly why i was looking at 3 gallons lol. headspace..

guess you an i are in the same headspace. lmfao

have fun eh

Lol ..yeah it's the tent makers fault . Lol. Anyway didn't find what I was looking fir around town . Came across a 10 pack of 3.5 gal 12x11 for 31.00 + shipping

wait is that a 10 pack of square buckets? 12x11? interesting...

No that is a clear tub Unforgiven . So it would need to be painted or taped .

I would just paint it flat white

The only thing about tubs is the mobility of the plants and let's say you are running non fem seeds .. If you get a make in there the root mass is going to be tied with all the others ..there are others but those are the two main draw backs.

I was think just one plant or two and having a divider between the two. I would like to see how big the plant would get with 27 gallon lol

in regards to size I would say it all depends on how long you veg it as well as genetics .I would definitely use a divider .

You haven't mentioned any brand name hi-pressure pumps... I found this shurflo pump, was wondering if it would work, and how many spray heads this pump could support... Shurflo Pump, Diaphragm, 115 Vac 8000-813-238 | Zoro.com

Hey there Dr.Fish ..did you get a chance to look at my DIY ? I also posted a parts list its on the second page of the DIY I believe . I looked at the pump you posted . Yes it would work but I would go with the one in my DIY for two reasons ..cheaper and higher Mac pressure . Right now I am running 8 spray heads @ 140psi . Minimum psi you want in this kind of system is 80psi . I can't really say how many spray heads that pump would support I would like to think atleast 16 so 8 buckets . With the one I have I'm pretty confident I could run atleast 15 buckets @ 80 psi . Unfortunately I do not have the space to even come close to maxing it out .

My spray heads are .8 gph and @ 80psi give off a 50 micron mist .

So if you hadn't had a chance to view my DIY click the link in my sig and post your questions I will be more than happy to answer them the best that I can .

Okay so here we are at 4 weeks from flip to 12/12 . Flower are growing and glazing up nicely .. I'm embarrassed and upset that I have done sick looking leaves that will not recover and only get worse as time goes by mainly due to me leaving the lights to close for to long and not enough cal/mag . I will let them get leached by the plant and then pull them off , after all it's part of their job , right ? The bud pic is the control bud that had been posted previously . So we can monitor progress . Enjoy the porn !

Are you using just the gh calimag, micro, grow and bloom or are using any of their any products?

Thsts all I am using with the addition of hydroguard .

simplicity eh, not like my batch of nutes. lmao

Yes it's pretty basic , just like when I first started out . Now I'm not saying that I don't want to try a run with all gh has to offer . But with this system being new . I wanted to keep it all pretty basic . As I know what I have pulled out of other systems with the same nutes

I've been toying around with ppm/nute levels looking for what I consider the sweet spot ( equal uptake of water to nutes , that maintains a constant ppm level in the res) for these strains . Now when I put this number out there most are going to be like WTF?? But what you have to realize is this style system is its more efficient at feeding and you will also have an understanding of how you save on your nute costs . Now for Gh flora series nutes at this stage of growth it's recommended to have a ppm reading of 950-1400 in a recirculating system . Right now and I'm getting closer to the true value for these babies . But it's looking like a total ppm level of 600-650 is the sweet spot :) and about 250 of the is cal/mag :) . Go figure right ? Lol .... I'll post a little porn later tonight :) .

Okay ..so I did a tad bit of cleaning today . Here we are 2 days short from flip to 12/12 . Right now I am extremely happy with the preformance of this system . I am unhappy with the lids on the buckets ( poor design on my part) these girls are heavy . That is one change that will be done for the next grow , bigger net cup with rods to stabilize the lids , heavier gauge lids , or lids with netcups molded in .

Now I have always used gh nutes and when designing this system I didn't really know what to expect so I limited my variables . The nutes have preformed well to this point. So with the system working extremely well for me I have been thinking about switching to AN nute system I'm leaning towards a master kit . It's hell of pricey but if it performs as well as this hp Areo system I see nothing but great things coming out. Any thoughts on this ?

Today I have also decided to start again from seed , going to start them this week. The only thing I'm wondering is do I run a multi again or a signal strain ?

Well here is the porn And aside from some light burn due to my error everything is looking good . Hope you enjoy!

Why not use 5 gal bucket lids? They're strong enough to support any size net pot and a scrog screen... But then, they are a real bitch to get off.... If you cut off 8 of the locking tabs, they come off easy and still seal...

Hey there Dr.Fish
What you have there is what I meant by different cups . The 5 gallon bucket lids that I have now are holding up , it's the netcup that's wanting to go through the lid because the lip isn't that broad and the hole I put in the lid was just as big as the upper base of the cup.

What size net cup is that ? Thank you for the advice .

hey no pain, i also like the fishy way of doin it, but here's a thought i just had. if you cut a piece of panda for your lid, cut a six way cross in the middle for the net cup, cut the very center of it out, place it on the lid, then put the net pot pushing it down with. it would snug it right up i think. also, cutting the hole in the lid a tad smaller would help too.

measure twice cut once, check fit and trim if needed, but remember to allow for the weight of the plant and roots pulling it down too before you trim.

i however like the molded net lids, to each their own. but i do like the fishy way of doin a scrog on dwc with the mater cage.

lookin pretty darned good anyhow bud.

have fun eh
