How are you finding the first nodes in SIP pots generally Jon? My first SIP has all her first nodes. Kind of interesting.
Hey @StoneOtter - well, I’m not doing any SIP. My bucket grows are coco up top and water below when the roots get through the bottom. But in the buckets, I find I get pretty serious production from the first node. Especially the dominant side. I am pretty close to permanently deciding that chopping the first node is useful depending on what you’re going for, but ideally I want to keep it cuz it rocks. Ie, the first node being unproductive is a complete myth.

Congratulations on that amazing harvest Jon! No way you thought that was a 3-4 ounce plant unless you were only ever looking at one corner of it. ;)
Thanks @InTheShed - no I really did. And now I can see she’s only around 6. The buds are dense and sweet as hell, but each individual one is a little on the short side. I’m not sold on finishing filling the screen with the stretch. That’s what I did this time. It doesn’t allow for enough stem under each cola. Next time I’m going to fill completely THEN flip. Betcha I get a lot more stem and bud that way. Thanks! And right back at you on the harvest. I lurked in your journal this morning.

Btw - this will maybe be the easiest trim ever. This plant is made for the easy trim.

Remember the one branch I wet trimmed? I do for a couple reasons.

- it allows me to compare drying times between wet trimmed and non-wet trimmed buds
- in case the buds are very dense, it shows me if I need to wet trim all of them
- it dries much faster and it allows me to test the bud long before the rest is dry and without the use of any oven, thus not destroying trichomes as toaster oven testers do

And it is this last point that brings is to this…that wet trimmed branch, thanks to a touch of moving air, is dried. I’m getting ready to test it. Very excited.

Here’s my Arjan’s Strawberry Haze. I posed her a couple different ways.

Very impressive grow and looks delicious!

Enjoy the smokes! 😋

That bud in a joint = heaven!
Thanks @StoneOtter - It’s true, but that’s gotta wait like three weeks. I’m not gonna waste a joint’s worth of this gold before it’s cured a bit. The terpenes are screaming at me to smoke it, but that was strictly tester bud. Tonight I hit trim jail in the hanging buds. Only got six days of dry out of her. Like I said, the buds are dense, but small. They dried more quickly than I expected by a day or two. But they’re ready for trim and jar/burp.

EPILOGUE

Wow. The @ViparSpectra KS3000 is an excellent light. My Strawberry Haze is fabulous! Thanks so much Valerie at ViparSpectra for the sponsorship and this lovely light.

The KS3000 has:

- extremely even coverage
- detachable driver
- superior heat dissipation
- can veg a 4x4 and flower a 3x3
- perfectly sized for a 3x3
- professional, very high build quality
- extremely easy to hang and clean

My buds came out dense and frosty and even across my scrog, as well as dense top to bottom on each stem. The light performance was great. This light is made to flower at around 1000 ppfd. I was able to get even closer than the suggested distance due to the driver being outside the tent. When the heat is almost zero you can get closer. I got around 9-10” away, which gave me around 1100-1150 ppfd for those colas. Most of the scrog was about 12” away, and all the buds came out very nicely.

I will be doing a start to finish grow in the 3x3 with the KS3000 as soon as I complete my move and get started again.

Here’s a few shots of the finished Strawberry Haze and the KS3000.

Thanks so much for following along and all the magic that comes with it.

Moderators, if you can please move this to completed journals I’d appreciate it.

KS3000 is rocking the tent!:theband:

Happy growing and Congratulations on your excellent grow!

:bravo: Way to grow Jon!
Thanks @StoneOtter ! I can’t tell you how much I love this strain. It’s addictive. Even though it’s low thc (for me, around 20-22% I estimate), it’s the kind of strain that smells and tastes so good you just can’t stop smoking it. The lower thc only facilitates that, lol. So no, it doesn’t smack you in the face upon exhale like a higher thc strain often will. It’s connoisseur weed. The buzz is great. Uplifting, highly mood enhancing, and produces extreme clarity. It comes on subtly and gets more pronounced after a while. And the taste…it just started curing and it already tastes great. In a month it’ll be fabulous. Very happy with Arjan today. Lol!
