Let's Give Pan Cyan And JMF A Spotlight

Time to bring this up to speed.

Here is where I am currently at. The JMF gave me a couple dunks and then started to get green mold, so out the door she goes.

So what's growing? Glad you ask.

I have a Red Boy and APE are growing on the slow side, and the two Blue Yeti's are colonizing very well. One of them has the jar about half colonized.

Here are some current images.

That's all folk's.

Stay safe and grow well my friends,

Looking good. the red boy and some of the jars in the beginning apear to have what we call wet spots (the grain being stuck to the side of the jar with moisture. Just keep a close eye on them. Also Yes sir!! all Contam goes in the compost/trash bin.

Time for another update.

I started by cleaning house. Meaning that all attempts to cultivate Pan Cyan, Red Boy and APE are now in the compost pile. They where all over a month old and two appeared to have wet mold and the Pan Cyan seem to have Trichoderma or green mold. Trichoderma, commonly known as “green mold,” poses a unique challenge in identification and containment. Among the various species, Trichoderma harzianum is the most prevalent culprit for infecting mushrooms. Last the JMF when to compost also, for this.

Here are some images of Blue Yeti, that I am doing now.

Well the dirty deed is done just right.

I transferred one rye grain jar of Blue Yeti into substrate today, with a little bit on coffee grounds. The colonization of the mycelium was thick in the center of the grain.

Here are today's images of the process.

I believe I will have fruit by next weekend.

Time for an update of my Blue Yeti.

I have already mixed the colonized mycelium into the the substrate and is now in a shoebox getting ready to start fruiting. I was thinking I would have fruit by this weekend, it will be close. I have another jar of Blue Yeti in a rye grain jar that I will need to mix with substrate today.

The Blue Yeti seems to be a strong growing, but I noticed it seems to like the cooler nights, and warmer days. This is not fact, it is just an observation, but it will be interesting to see if the next shoebox reacts the same. When I am inoculating the rye grain jars, I let it get a little cooler at night or just a cooler temp for 6-10 hours. that's what I was doing with my jars.

Since, I was gifted the Blue Yeti LC I have been keeping it in the refrigerator for storage. The funny thing is when I inoculated my current jars the LC was cold and I inoculated room temperature Rye grain. The colonization was very quick, but LC is faster than spore syringes, but in less than a month it when from LC to colonizing the substrate. that quick in my book.

Here are some current images of Blue Yeti colonizing the substrate.

Now it's time to see if I have enough or if I need to make some substrate.

That's all folk's.

Good morning 420 Magazine

Time for a shroom update.

I discarded a couple fail attempts due to a few problems ie: wet and green mold, and taking to long building mycelium.

Anyways, I am down to Blue Yeti which should start fruiting within the next couple days. The Blue Yeti LC I was gifted is a strong strain. I am going to make this the last strain for this diary, and will start a new one soon. I have a Bull Run and a A+ waiting in the wings for the new diary.

Here are some current images of Blue Yeti.

One of mine, the bulbous stem got to almost 2" diameter, cap was 1-1/2" and it was something over 3" tall, @Tokin Roll. Another got to 5" height with less girth. I seem to remember reading about it being a lab developed mutant that forms all the organs and then never sporulates, hence it is only available as a liquid or tissue culture. I don't recall where I saw the info.
Like all cubes they recommend harvest when the veil tears if possible for max potency. I let a few go and they had gills, but if any spores dropped, they weren't visible. Like you say, though, a print on foil may prove me wrong. Most cubes have dark colored spores.
Yours will look like this shortly:

I did some more harvesting today and also, trying to make spore prints @BeccaBuds

I see what you mean about the spores being very light/transparent. I will get a print of two with a lot of luck.
The Blue Yeti is a PITA to harvest with as big as they grow and growing on top/next of each other.

I have some Bull Run recolonizing in a rye grain jar and will be starting a new dairy soon for new strains.

@Tokin Roll, if you've got an agar petri dish try taking a slice of flesh from within the cap using a sterilized scalpel and putting in the dish, or take a slice of tissue and put it in a grain jar. It should start to colonize. Another handy trick to keep the strain going without spores, though I'd love to collect some of this one for extra long term storage.

Thank you for stopping by @BeccaBuds

I took two caps yesterday and will check on them a little later. The main reason way I like getting prints is they are easier for long term storage, but I am sure you know that already.

My second tub is currently pinning now, and there a still some growing in the first tub also. Have you tried flushing them before?

Tok..

I'm really curious to see if you can get a spore print of the BY. Mine didn't appear to have dropped any spores at all!
Sometimes if they don't drop spores you can take a small tissue sample from the inner stem and place it on agar and it will grow out. If you run into contamination just transfer to a couple plates of agar and clean it up and boom. Not really easy but I have seen it work.
Happy Friday!!! Congrats on the BY fruits!! I've never had them before. 😎✌️

Well things are moving right along.

No luck on the Blue Yeti spore prints and I already have some liquid culture (LC), so I won't be making more at this time. On the positive side the second box of Blue Yeti is now in the fruiting stage. Have you try dunking the cakes @BeccaBuds for a second round? I am thinking this may be a one round type of mushroom since it is incapable of dropping spores. What do you think?

I will be starting another shroom diary later today or tomorrow for Bun Run and A+ that I have colonizing in the background. The Bull Run is about ready to be added to substrate, so fun, fun in the future.

That's all folk's.

I got a second flush, not as many as the first, but I didn't dunk the All-In-One (AIO), @Tokin Roll. I dunked it after the 2nd flush but it just got fuzzier. I still have it sitting covered in a germination tray, covered with white fuzzy growth but no mushrooms.

Two days ago, though, I inoculated the AIO I got from Mushroom Supplies, so the old brick is more or less mulch.

It will be interesting to see how this one does. The AIO from MGK was 4 pounds while the MS cake is 5, and the grain is already blended in the MS so maybe it will be easier to shake and mix in a week or so. The MGK cake colonized rather slowly.
Your 2nd BY shoebox is looking awesome! :circle-of-love:

Thank you for your kind words @BeccaBuds

I have been pretty busy lately with growing buds and mushrooms. I think I am starting to get a clue on the environment for mushrooms. Things seem to be moving right along. I just placed Bull Run in substate the other day and have A+ recolonizing after the shake and break, but that is my new diary.

I harvested the second shoebox of Blue Yeti the other day and they are still drying. I have not been able to try them yet, but soon. I like to try everything before I spare so I know the proper dosage is to share.

I will be close this diary soon and start working on my new one.

That's all folk's.

Stay safe and grow well my friends,
